I got a real charge out of how you electrified us with this very Smart new charger!!! Seriously, this technology is so good for our hobby and those just entering into it! Takes all the fear and trepidation out of charging Lipos, etc.

I am going to be honest, when Horizon first came out with these batteries I rolled my eyes because I just saw yet another battery connector attached to a gimmick. I have been in this hobby over 40 years, including several years working in a local hobby shop. Battery connectors have always been a hot topic as there have been many. Once I realized it was just a new version of the EC series connectors I started getting on board. The EC series connectors have been a very good choice for both capability in service and ease of use. The handling has been decent (plugging/unplugging) and soldering them is very easy. Now the evolution brings it to the IC series, and applied to the new Smart Technology they have developed I actually feel like they are worth their cost. I am actually very impressed so far, we will see how it progresses.

    I love it.
Simple and charges all my batteries well.
Still use my other one for a slow balance charge.

Honestly, I think it's worth it just for auto storage discharge. I've been known to lose track of what day it is, so not having to remember to storage charge batteries is a huge boon.

I've got a couple rigs using the full smart system.
Smart 2 in one reciever/ESC, Spectrum Radio showing battery data in real time, smart charger, battery.
I've pretty much delegated it to my fun class cars, My drift car, an old RC10T, I started a drag car build and used it in that for a bit.
It's not a bad system, good for beginner's wanting to focus on learning mechanics or whatnot and just want easy battery maintenance.
My crawl stuff does work well on the Spectrum radio, although I do wish they could lower the price on their receivers.
Looks like a decent small charger. Wish you had done a quick rundown on it charging non smart batteries, but I'm sure it's prolly the standard toggle, select, start.
Thanks for the info have fun.

Is this an early ! early release ???, I have just got into the Spektrum Smart stuff as not cheap to get into but needed now that everything I have is LiPo now and been looking for a good one, but also need a 4S & 6S also so hopefully they will bring out a more budget friendly one for the bigger batteries.
Being new to LiPo I have killed a couple of new ones just by forgetting to unplug them on my UDR I just turned the ESC power switch off and forgot to unplug and went to use it and the batteries were dead flat and would not charge OUCH.

@@scalebuildersguild get that, usually we only charge the batteries while we are working on the cars. She knows better then the wife why you don’t walk away from a battery plugged into the charger! She’s been building RC cars with me for going on 4 years now. But some of these chargers I’ve come across are hard for me to figure out and I’ve been around RC’s since the 80’s. Just need to upgrade from out single battery 2s & 3s LiPo charger without complicating use. Plus considering 4s with these comp rigs we’re now building. So either way will need another battery charger.

It's easy to find an 'octopus' that plugs into an XT60 (being the "dominant" connector type)...but, I haven't seen any with EC3/EC5.

This charger destroyed one of my new 2200 LiPo batteries by allowing the battery to be updated, which immediately turned the software backwards. Now it won't auto start; won't show individual battery cell voltages and won't charge up with an auto stop at the end of the cycle. Whatever happened, the charger now asks for a balance lead connection like the older batteries and without that will only charge up with no data about how each cell is doing. So this new charger virtually destroyed this G2 battery by loading old software on the newer technology battery. That is NOT good technology whatever else it can do. And tech support is absolutely no help.....
