I have a Mitsubishi Lancer 2005 model. It is a Top of the line variant with Sunroof. Engine is 1.6 liter with CVT transmission having S mode. This S mode is sports mode which is specifically mentioned as Sports mode in its Vehicle Manual issued by Mitsubishi. The S mode not only increases the RPM but its torque converter increases torque as well to provide spontaneous acceleration for a thrilling speed. This CVT transmission is called INVECS-3 and the technology was quite ahead of its time which was not available in any locally available cars in Pakistan.

Cvt doesn't have gears,so it doesn't change gears,s mode just holds the revs high, whereas in d mode, it goes lower

There is no need for hit and trials, observations and analysis. Just pickup the owner's manual and read about the transmission modes. As the Japanese people don't trash books hence manuals are not available in the JDM crap that is imported to PK. Rather they are preserved in automotive section of libraries in various small and big cities in Japan. This is Something unknown to the car enthusiasts of PK.

Main apna experience share karta hun mery pas honda city vario thi 2004 modal us mai bhi s ka mode tha laken woh second gear ki tarah kaam karta tha aur ek move custom thi 2013 us mai jo s ka mode tha woh sports mode ki tarah kaam karta tha . rpm high ho jaty thy laken gear akhri tak shift hoty thy 660cc car bhi secondo mai 100 per chali jati thi . dono hi cvt transmission thi mery khayal se yeh company per depand hai k woh apni cvt transmission k sath kia change kar k aap ko de rahi hai. Yeh mera experience raha hai cvt transmission mai S mode k hawaly se.

If the vehicle has pedal shifters then S is for manual shifting / racing / down hill assist as well. I have Japanese Honda having CVT but no L or B mode.

2 is 2nd gear ..It doesn't engage first gear ...If u start from zero it will not give u torque and will feel as if u r taking a start in 2nd gear of a manual car....However it gives engine braking on downhill and more torque uphill if u are experiencing less torque in D3 while climbing steephill but mostly D3 works in 1.5 litre and more powerful cars...

This 2 in Honda is just 2.... Its just 2nd gear.... Don't confuse 2 with d3..
D3 is like 1st 2nd and 3rd gear
2 is just 2nd gear.. It starts in 2nd gear and stays in 2nd gear only...
2 is practically for slippery surface start... If u r to move your car on snow / icey conditions and feels like car will spin wheels in 1st gear due to more torque than u put it in 2 means 2nd gear for a gentle thrust / power on wheels....

You’re dead wrong bro ! Even in 90s 4 speed automatic was common and D2L does not mean 3 speed 😂 normally they used to have OD for overdrive or 4th gear. Honda used D4 & D3 just as an additional mode for 4 speed autos in EXI & VTI. I had 87 Galant Royal and 88 Corolla 1.5 SE Limited - both 4 speed auto with PRND2L. D4 means drive up to 4th gear and D3 means use up to 3rd gear which was the function of OD button which Honda never had. I think you’re a Honda fan boy. BTW I own E60 535i and F01 750i now and grew up in same 90s you did although in Lahore 😂

Aslam Alaikum Omer bhai, i have the same model of mira and also the newer model. the issue that iam facing that newer variant has lower engine response, i was told by my mechanic that it was because both older and newer mira had different type of CVT gear box, one of them had ATF hence the newer mira lackeed initial kick compared to older model. i would love that if you could highlight or share your information on this topic as it would help me allot. older mira is 2016 x memorial and newer model is 2019 x. thankyou.

Yes i would say older mira is much more snappier than new one....new one is just more refined in features but practicality wise old one is best among mira all gens and all the other 660cc and even 1000cc category
