  • If you've never tried editing a RAW photograph before perhaps because you were scared of the complexity, then this is the video for you. I use the beginner-friendly Photomator 2.0 for Mac to process a RAW photo showing the entire process from start to finish.

Great video Andy! Very informative, more people should watch this and learn more about Photomator and editing in general. Well done.

The Photomator/Pixelmator combo is brilliant & everything I need IF I first send the OM/Olympus raw file through DXO PureRaw’s basic camera/lens/noise process & export as a dng. For now it still feels like DXO’s treatment remains indispensable as it makes everything that comes after easier, faster, better.

Also a nice lightweight setup that will run well on fairly modest Macs too :)

Thanks for this. I have Photomator on the Mac, MacBook and iPad. I just followed the video using the iPad version. It’s missing a few of the options that are on the Mac, but that’s OK. I learned a bit tonight about what the basic functions do.

@@Andyhutchinson thanks Andy. I have your video open in one window and Photomator open next to it (I have a 32" widescreen monitor - an el-cheapo from Kogan), so I can follow your lesson.
I'd love to see more of these types of videos which are aimed at people at my level. Where I live there's nothing that I can go to to learn. TAFE and other places seem to focus on aged care and social work, these being our two largest growth industries around here.

Thanks Andy and I do use Photomator every now and again. Right now I'm travelling and taking Fuji raf And Ricoh dng (and done iPhone dng). I processes on the iPad with LR Mobile. I must see if I can do some raw processing with Photomator - I guess I'll have to copy the files into Photos if that's possible. I'll try it and report in.

You can open photos from iCloud drive without having them in Photos on iPad/iPhone :)

I love that you're not focused on Lightroom, Capture One or the other professional software packages. I do use Lightroom, and I do love it, but I hate the subscription model, so I've been thinking about quitting Adobe and get Photomator instead as a companion to my Pixelmator Pro. Haven't been able to yet though, but I'm working on it 😀

Thank-you. There are some really good alternatives to Adobe around at the moment. :)
