It might be worse than you all think: If the restaurant collapsed a month after he left it's pretty clear the chef was doing most of the work. And the fact that he put enough stock in Manly's opinions that he left for Cali means he might have also been thinking about what he said about his attitude. That means he might have gone to Cali with the work ethic he needed to succeed, and the intent to fix his shitty attitude, which is a combination that would make him do well over there. Manly might have inadvertently fixed this guy's life and fucked everyone else over.

Encouraging someone to move to California/LA is up there with giving someone who is tech illiterate an apple product or encouraging children to smoke
How though apple is so locked down and streamlined that it's the easiest ecosystem to use. Giving someone who is tech literate an apple device feels like a slap to the face, unless you are an expert in cryptography, mathematics, and reverse engineering to jail break the device it's incredibly limited in what it can do as even corporate licensing certificates are expiring so GBA emulation on unjailbroken devices is being phased out.

As someone living in California: Cost of living is stupid high and the housing market's fucked, because of that there's a lot of homeless people and associated crimes, plus there's the massive yearly wildfires. There's other stuff too, but that's what comes to mind immediately.

criminals just basically get off with a slap on the wrist. Some teenager ran over a woman pushing her baby on a stroller. Baby was fine and mother didn't sustain life-threatening injuries. Teen was caught thanks to a dude in a truck using his own truck as a ram to stop the teenagers car, which was stolen btw. Want to know the teenagers punishment? A summer boys camp, not even those military like camps. The mother and her family moved out of California shortly after.
