- The summer season is upon us here in the US. Summer is the grilling and barbecuing season, and so I compiled a list of the Top 5 peated Islay scotch whiskies (under $100 per bottle) that feature savory or grilled smoke flavors that will compliment the grilled, smoked, or bbq food and/or the atmosphere at your outdoor barbecue. This is NOT a list of whiskies to enjoy while actively grilling (it should go without saying, but keep all your whiskies away from open flames ...) Check out my list of recommendations, and let us know your picks in the comments.

Lagavulin 11 Offerman 4th Edition is perfect for summer!! Delicious!! Ardbeg's BizarreBQ is also a must have for the summer!! 🙂 Perfect for grilling!! 🙂
Great picks, cheers!
I second every bottle on the list and add the Lagavulin 16, bbq tested and proven. lol
There's plenty of room at the barbecue for that smoky finish. Cheers!
Lagavulin 16 for sure!!
I would include Ballechin 10. Savory, meaty, salty, fruity. A beautiful dram. A little lectin funk that some don’t care for but plays very well IMO. But can’t make this list since it’s a Highland.
Ardbeg BizarreBQ would be the obvious No.1 Choice in this category, but it's basically gone, so...
5. Compass Box The Peat Monster
4. Kilchoman Sanaig
3. Laphroaig Cairdeas 2023 (but the 2024 looks to be even better!)
2. Highland Park Cask Strength
1. Ardbeg Uigeadail 👍
Nice choices (with Caol Ila represented again). I love the Sanaig, but think of it as a little more chocolate espresso. Cheers!
@@whiskywhereabouts Okay, Loch Gorm 😉
I just ordered some Ardbeg BizarreBQ from Alberta - thrilled to find some!!
@@christinecamley You're very lucky! Congrats! Really great stuff. I hope it wasn't too pricey 🤞
My personal choice is Talisker 10YO. I have not tried the new bottlings but did purchase several of the older ones. The barley sugar sweetness is interesting with the peat/smoke.
Going a little afield from Islay, but can't complain about Talisker 10. Cheers!
From Islay one of my favorites for summer would be Lagavulin 16. The biggest issue however is the price in Ontario, approx C$165!
That is, unfortunately, about right ...
WTF Caol Ila 12yo $80 😂😂😂 in my country is 44€
Yeah, it's why no one really buys it here, and we go for independent bottlings instead.
