You got a couple of things incorrect.
The pincer movement is not new to Avdiivka, it has been employed multiple times in this war, and is a well known tactic. Oh and the drama you delivered that faux with.
Avdiivka will only become a rail hub should the front move significantly inland. Right now anything big going in there will be missile fodder.
The NATO interpretation is a foil. It is a defense alliance that was considered by many moot before the Ukraine attack. At one time it would even have been possible for the Russian Federation to join it. The only states who could fear that defense alliance are those who have plans to be aggressive in a manner that would trigger its charter actions.
Russia was integrated into the international monetary system, and its trucks, ships, and planes were free to move about the world. There was no aggression against Russia. Had they not taken Crimea and part of Georgia, there would be no thought of defense against Russia even.
Had Russia wanted to influence Ukraine, all they had to do was to create friendship pacts. They could have invited students to study in Russia. They could have extended grant opportunities to Ukrainians. They could have created joint programs in Aerospace and some other fields. In brief they could have made clear they were a friendly big brother. That they did not think of this should tell you something is amiss.
Dr. Sachs a better perspective for understanding the Ukraine War is found in Paulo Freires book "Pedagogy of the Oppressed". The Russian leadership is playing out the culture that they came of age in. They are not aware of the opportunities that the modern world offers, nor the benefits of concentrating on trade and development. Instead they are thinking in terms of territory and zero sum economics.
If you read this, I hope you will take a moment to address these points.
I agree that the current US administration has missed opportunities to negotiate, and the US has made missteps, and even taken actions they should not have. Getting back to thesis of "Pedagogy of the Oppressed", I wonder what the world will look like when modern medicine has people living to 120. I think of Max Plank's comment that physics progresses one funeral at a time. I wonder if the same can be said of state relations.
Dinosaurs will have us living in the age of dinosaurs, and having us all go the way of the dinosaurs.

There may not be many Americans who know this; But one of the main players in the 2014 Maidan riots was the British Secret Service MI6. The British did not want the United States to leave Europe (towards China) before having weakened Russia.
On the other hand, many people thought that after the disaster of the initial Russian offensive, normal people thought that Russia would fail, that the Russian armed forces would take decades to recover their strength, even some naive people even thought that Putin could lose power.
Nothing could be further from reality, the Russian troops recovered in just over 1 year. It has been more than a year since Russia won this war, it may be that the reality of the front is not being explained to the general public, there is a lot of censorship, but since the battle of Bakmut the Russian casualties are lower than expected (proportions of 2.1 X 1 or 2.5 X 1 compared to the Ukrainians of 2.4
Not only has Russia been crushing Ukrainian meat for more than a year, its military complex has been reinforced, they produce more artillery pieces than all of NATO combined, they produce three times as many planes as they did 2 years ago... and all this without That Putin had to declare a state of war in his country.
North American politicians and senators, every time a conflict arises, demonstrate their ignorance and lack of knowledge of the most basic general culture... you should be ashamed of your politicians.
By the way, the United States has already lost more than 450 officers in Ukraine... maybe someone should scratch the surface a little.
Ukraine is not a NATO member and is not a democracy. I wish we were able to freeze or withhold our tax dollars and not support the government, which is GO-Fund Ukraine! It's absurd that billions of tax dollars are going to Ukraine instead of our own country's welfare.

We know what happens when we fund 'our own countries welfare'. We did it during the COVID pandemic when the average Joe got three stimulus checks in the mail, two after the worst was well over. All it did was lead to rage, bitterness, and demands for more and more and more. At least with foreign aid people are grateful.
