He has been around for ever, Prof Sachs. I suspect he wishes he has been a lot more vocal about what he has always know about NATO history and the failures of US foreign policy as weel as its its expantionist program for global supremacy. Its clear to me that he has stepped up his public speaking in a concerted effort to educate us all through public speaking on this specific area. He is very well versed in the topic;more than anyone else I know. We should support Prof Sachs. Its really a shame that the mainstream media stations NEVER bring him on and if they do they always try to limit what he has to say.

Jeffrey you're best of the best .
You're honest, well informed and bringing us "true" and I believe that a lot of people didn't knew above these things You've mentioned.
Unfortunately for NATO loosing support from a lot of countries because "rudeness" . These countries where long time business partners especially with USA . Now most of them switched sides to China and Russia . In the soon future USA won't be having friends and business partners and will loose NATO members at the end USA will be under sanctions from rest of the World if USA/NATO would change their policy.
Worst what could happen that America have their own war between North and South because that way started and will finish that way. I will say "karma" will punish everyone sooner or later.

He's right that we missed an opportunity in 1990 to help Russia become a democracy., but it's plain stupid to conclude that the USA is responsible for NATO expansion in Eastern europe. NATO membership is based on free choice and was a no brainer for countries being suppressed by USSR for decades. NATO expansion was inevitable. For a well respected person this guy's analysis deeply unimpresses me.

    • @dailyrant4068
      @dailyrant4068 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Only the naive would believe that countries join or not join NATO as a “rational choice”, rather than driven by geopolitics and other things.
This is the child’s version of seeing the world because you actually believe there is such a thing as a hero and a villain. This is what Hollywood has done to the general population in the last decades, unfortunately

I have watched things happening in Ukraine since 2014, and Mr. Sachs is right!
I am from Romania, and wanted to know what the hell went on in Ukraine since 2008, because they are our northern, misunderstood, neighbours.
The Ukrainian Parliament always promoted laws that banned Romanian, Hungarian, and Russian languages in schools, public places, thus acting very non-democratic from start.
But EU suddenly started supporting a government that lacked any empathy for it’s minority citizens, things that all other EU countries handle very well.
But that’s just one of many aspects.
The difference between Ukraine hurting minorities like Hungarians, Romanians etc vs the Russians living in Ukraine is that when it came to Ukraine persecuted Russian, there was a response from Moscow.
So the bottom line is, you won’t mess with Russia & Russian and get away with it.
Much respect to Putin for that!
The U.S. looks to me that is a warmonger, a sneaky player going to countries around the world messing with their internal affairs, but never directly, always making it look like it is the fault of their targets, and then “intervening” and coming into the aid of the proxy country.
Of course, this was not the case everywhere, but since the 2000’s this has been going on!

A good summary of the causes of this conflict. Since this video was made obviously Japan has continued to buy Russian oil & last month (March 2023) Russian oil export receipts returned to pre-war levels. By the way, the EU also continues to buy Russian oil & LPG, at a premium price, through Indian & Chinese middlemen. In refineries in those countries, Russian product is mixed with product from other producers &, hey presto, it's no longer "Russian" oil or gas, so not subject to sanctions. Where there's a will, there's a way!

This needs to be re-posted as a new video. I think people after watching this nightmare for as long as we all have our still confused about the backstory. And how we got to this point and we know it could’ve been avoided. I’m the same age as you Jeffrey and have been an antiwar activist since junior high school. I remember being a little kid in grammar school when we had to airy drills because “the Russians are coming the Russians are coming” indoctrinating us with propaganda at a very early age. Intuitively I even knew back then but it didn’t ring is truth. And recounting truthful history has proven that. In the 80s I was an anti-nukes activist and was very involved in that movement being an adult by then and thought with the Gorbachev agreement the world would be safe but just like our treaties with the Native Americans we never honor them once they don’t serve us anymore. No one has more blood on your hands than the United States of America. I’m ashamed of our behavior on a daily basis whether it’s historical or current. The arrogance and the bullying that the US has done over the years is an obvious pattern that can’t be ignored. Just like you say if you follow the timeline the US is really to blame for all of this that’s happening right now aside from the past transgressions that put us into illegal wars And financed coups and other wars. Just like all the blood we have in our hands in Syria right now that nobody wants to talk about. We have to acknowledge that we are the biggest warmongers on the planet even though we only represent about 4.2% of the population.

Study Stalin and what that maniac got away with in ww2. A lot of the weapons supplied by the west for that. Consider that russian aggression in the area pre dates the existence of the USA. I realize that most Russians are probably peaceful people but they do have a culture of aggression that dates back to 862. This guy doesn't speak any truth he just likes the sound of his own voice. Russia is a dictatorship, it would take Putin a couple of years to turn all the guns around and point them at Poland. There is a reason the polish are so against the Russians.

No, it's not. He misrepresented both the history and economic data. He claimed Yanukovych had a policy of 'balance' and was 'overthrown' by the USA, when he was a russian puppet and escaped the country due to enormous, country-wide protests bordering a revolution. This was not a 'coup'. Russia invaded immediately after. He claimed russian economy is 'fine', while all data says otherwise. Rubble's exchange ratio is basically fixed, because you cannot sell stock on the stock market, companies are forced to convert 80% of all profits to rubble, state-run enteriprises were forced to buy national obligations, gold reserves are dumpe onto the market. The russian central bank projected economy contraction of 5% (russian claims!) and has since stopped publishing financial information alltogether. Inflation calculated by independent analysts hits the 60% mark. He's a paid shill.

Equally why does moskow feel so threatened by the mere presence of defense treaties that do not even have the capability to invade russia. Why would the EU and nato solely buy russian energy and completely alienate their security guarantees to give russia a full economic and military leverage over them? If nato disnt exist, we know the kind of power russia could secure over europe and ultimately their cultures and freedoms would drastically be changed.

the fundamental problem in all this is the fact that it is not NATO that expands, but other countries that want to join NATO structures for security against russia. let's just look at which countries joined NATO after the collapse of the USSR, mostly countries that gained independence from the communists
Before the war that Russia started, economic ties between Russia and Germany were huge... in fact, Germany became dependent on Russia for raw materials, which after February 2022 was a very big problem for Germany.
Justifying the invasion of another country with the expansion of NATO is another flawed argument of Russia.
like the food crisis. recently, even putin claimed that he was defending ukraine against a polish invasion. nonsense. He contradicts himself with every statement he makes
