    Thanks to Pauraque for pointing out the bird at 8:20 labeled as Western Flycatcher is actually a Hutton's Vireo!

    We visit the USA every year from England and have just booked to go to Tucson! All thanks to your amazing videos. They are brilliant. Many thanks. Elegant trogon here we come…hopefully.

    Great video, guys! I grew up in Wisconsin, but now live down in Sierra Vista and try to make it to Ramsey often. My wife and i have seen trogons on multiple occasions there, but last August was great. We saw 2 males and 2 juveniles in that area of the canyon. I'm impressed that you can get video of so many birds. Getting photos alone is difficult.

    Derek, once again, you didn't disappoint us. You seen so many beautiful birds. How can I pick my favorite? I can't, but I did favor the hummingbird on her nest.

    Love Ramsey Canyon- I just stayed at the Lazy Cowboy Canyon a few weeks ago. On a hike I saw a painted Redstart. My first.
    I saw an Elegant Trogon at Cave Creek Ranch by Portal AZ when I stayed there. It was wintering there- unusual, but lots of great photo opportunities.

    You guys definitely saw some great stuff! Ramsay canyon is awesome. I've usually had better luck for Trogons (at least from a photography perspective) in the Chiricahua mountains near Portal.

    Very nice with the trogons! I missed that species when I was in Arizona. I'll have to go back some day and try again.

    Thank you so very much for making these videos. I am very glad, too, that you mention even non-bird species in them. I am too poor to afford to travel to these places to see these species of birds and other animals.

    Welcome to AZ. I live here now, and have lived in beautiful Winona, MN. I like Sparky Stensas' Sax Zim Bog vids. A few years ago a friend and I did a hiking trip to Madera Canyon. We knew it was a top birding location but we weren't into birding at the time. We heard the Trogon was the iconic bird here and a few folks said it sounded like a barking puppy....LOL. We didn't see any on our long hike, but when we were walking past Santa Rita lodge on our way back to the car, someone pointed one out..........in a utility pole of all places!!!! No joke, and I got an extremely modest image with my measly phone. I do love takings photos, did some research, and picked up a cheap Canon 7D a few weeks ago. I haven't been to the Chiricahua region yet. I really look forward to that!

    Derek and Ryan you guys need to make a trip to Arizona in August and do a hummingbird specialty field trip and show us all the birds you see because you can have as many as 17 species in AZ .

  • @teetaloo
    @teetaloo 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Wow the juvenile Elegant Trogon is so pretty! I've only seen an adult male, flying above the parking lot at the top of the Madera Canyon road. It was very beautiful and fun to see, and now I want to see a female or a juvenile! Also, this is my first time learning about the Sulfur-bellied Flycatcher, and now I really want to see one! I think it's very funny that the "Arizona Woodpecker" only comes into a teeny part of Arizona 😂 Oh and the lichen nest of the Violet-crowned Hummingbird is so cute, I love that.

    We've been watching your videos and now subscribed to your channel. We're birders in Australia and it's fascinating to see what birds are in other countries. I love the Hummingbirds (we don't have any here)! Would love to see one of those one day!

    • @naturephotographychallenge
      @naturephotographychallenge 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@BadgerlandBirding I live in the suburbs near Melbourne but we get some pretty cool birds. My common backyard birds are Rainbow Lorikeets, Crested Pigeons, Magpies, Ravens, Currawongs & Noisy Miners... but sometimes we get really special birds that pop in, like the Gang Gang Cockatoos, Corellas and recently we had a flock of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos turn up & nibble on a tree in the front yard! 😀

    Hello!
    I was hoping u could assist me in naming a bird I’ve been hearing for a while but can’t pin down.
    To me it sounds like a crying raven. I can’t give a description of appearance
    I do live in Arizona so if u could list any bird species that might fit please feel free to send them over.
    Thank you!!!

      @@BadgerlandBirding not suite but thank you! It sounds like it says “WAH!” Doing this three to four times. I hear only one so they don’t fly in groups. I can’t say for sure it’s even related to crows or ravens that’s just what it reminds me of.
