    Growing up in Northern Kentucky and Southern Ohio I heard the word holiday from various construction workers being used to describe gaps or missed spots routinely. If you Google "The Word Detective" with the word holiday you'll see that it is an obscure but recognized use of the word. Kevin's dad wasn't so crazy!

    Bought a 3039R last year with cab. 70 hours in a heated cab blowing snow last winter and 30 hours spreading gravel in A/C this past summer have spoiled me for life. I use an X710 for mowing and leaf collection although I’m considering setting up the 3R for those duties as well.

    I've been debating about a 3046R and a 4066R. I was leaning more towards a 4066R for the horsepower to run a small batwing mower. However I like the belly mower on the 3046R for my lawn; it's great that I could get a 10ft batwing for a smaller horsepower tractor.
    Thank you Tim & Christy for the videos and information y'all provide!

    I used to help a friend do hay and i did every process. Cut rake round bale square. It was hard to get a square corner with the haybine. I think his was 12ft. I learned how to turn and do regular curves my sickle mower though can be a different story as it a ford 501 sickle and my lefts i do miss some sometimes. I got a 8ft flail from church camp im gonna resurrect this winter (new pto shaft, grease zerts, fix belt tensioner, new idler and belt) and try it in 2021 and see if my 520 can run it. I picked up 442lbs of front wieghts so if loader is off i can hold front down. I need to rebuild my loader mounts since sloppy and twisted loader slightly and fix the twist. My gen and welder are gonna get a big work out next year

    I could make use of a mower like the batwing but too late- I bought an 88" cut Ferri Flail mower. This model requires a lot of horsepower for an 88" cut.
    It is rated at 60-90 HP pto which is roughly 75-105 engine HP.
    I run it on the 2440 (60 PTO) and the 2755(93 pto dyno'd)
    It runs much better on the 2755.
    It seems you are getting a lot more out of each HP somehow. Ive always thought flails need lots of power but there you are running a good sized flail on the 1025r with about 18? PTO HP.

  • @christophersiano969
    @christophersiano969 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Christy's comment on "how easy it drives" is something I really notice when I drive light tractors vs heavy ones. When they are heavy with power steering, the whole job of driving seems much easier. Never tried a cab, but I wonder if the cab isolates you a bit and makes things feel less connected. Who knows.
    Is it just me, or is the drawbar on that 30 series REALLY low? I think I would have expected a bit higher ground clearance. Compared to the air under the front, it just seems a place where you might hang up the machine.
    Just curious... I keep hearing people comment on how valuable a local dealer is. The thing is, nobody I know has actually needed to return a tractor to the dealer. Everyone I know does their own annual service and there are plenty of places around to get general supplies like lube, filters, etc. For me it's not even an option as there are no Ford dealers and the New Holland dealer has to special order anything I'd need anyway as my machine is 50 years old. It's typically quicker and cheaper to just order from the big AG warehouses. Just curious exactly what "value" that local dealer truly gives? Maybe for a big working farm and your machine needs something RIGHT NOW that local dealer can step up, but do they really stock that much? Or is it a mechanic on call service? I can't imagine what that kind of thing costs.

      hood a bit wider and maybe a bit taller. So, lose a bit of visibility.
      Seemed to have more power to me. ...maybe just in my head because I have always wanted one :-)
      Hydrostatic drive feels much different since it is electronic rather than mechanical. We have noticed that with all 3-4 series. The r's have adjustable sensitivity. I haven't driven enough to know where I like the sensitivity setting.
      Feels heavier than the 2R...but hard to objectively explain that.
      Didn't drive it long enough to provide more feedback. Overall, it is a very nice machine.

    Can you say how the mower does on the 3039r vs the 2038r ? I saw a lot of comments saying the 2038r was to small and weak to run that mower. So what’s the difference on the 3039r ?

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      similar. The 2038r handles it well enough that I would rather have the TS10 than a 5' or 6' 3 point mower. Even going slowly in the 'tough spots' it would allow you to get more done and with better cut quality than 3 point mower.

    hi Tim. I have a question. I have a 3039r. I've been experimenting with mine hooked to an 8ft dual spindle. it does well on flat ground and on slight grades but on the steep parts it struggles which is expected. In this video it looks all flat and the grass is dry / dead. my question is, I've seen you also used a 3046r with the ts10 in thick stuff in another video. is there a noticeable difference in power between the 2 tractors? i know it's technically 7hp engine and 3 pto hp advertised difference. I'm wondering if it's worth it to upgrade or just a waste of money.

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is some noticeable difference in HP. Having said that, the 3 spindle mower simple pulls easier than a single spindle (and by extension a two spindle).
      For example, you could never pull an 8’ single spindle.
      The TS10 is sorta magic. 3 spindles makes all the difference.

    To me, It didn’t seem like the 3R series is a big enough difference to upgrade from a 2038R
    If I go bigger I was thinking 4052R or 4066R
    I may have to rethink it because you have a lot more experience than I do

    I want one of those mowers soooo bad for my pasture! But hard to justify since we will eventually be fencing it in and adding grazing animals to do my mowing. Wouldn't have a problem behind my 4066R.

      Most cattle fields still need to be mowed a couple of times per year to control weeds the cows don't eat. A couple of goats would work pretty well too. It increases your carrying capacity if done well.

      @@brianhillis3701 goats are on the list as well. Hard for me to justify another mower since I have a flail and a finish mower. A guy can dream though!

    Tim I know this has nothing to do with what you are doing right now. I thought I saw Ventrac came out with a flail mower. Will you be testing that out? At least I believe it was a flail.

      Yes, it is a flail. We may try one next season. We’ll see.
