I’ve came back to this video twice and both times it’s gotten me taken care of! He’s not joking when he says that those second set of bolts are tough to get off! Thanks for the helpful video!
He made this look so damn simple that I may have to try it! I rarely try and work on my vehicle but I’m sick of paying astronomical prices for things like this! Thank you for the video!!!
I have a 2016 ex optima and i chose to upgrade the rear to duralast gold but the new hard wars/shims were trash and did not allow the new beefier pads to slide in, i see why many ppl said keep the old shims, good idea with the hammer tool i knocked it all the way until it got loose enough to twist by hand. Thanks for the vid
Make sure you pull the slide pins out, clean them and re-lube them too or you'll have the inside pads wear faster. If you dont do it, you run the chance of the calipers getting hung up on the pins and not releasing all the way when you take your foot off the brakes.
Thanks for the help, Straight to the point. No long dialogue. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you very q and q and q and q and q and q and a queue. Thank you, thank you.
I once got a quote a long time ago for rear rotors, pads and flush for $900 at a reputable brake place, no thanks. I learned to do it all myself since then.
😂 you are absolutely right when you said the first thing you do is jack the car up and take the tire off and if you need a video on that you shouldn’t be changing brakes. That is 💯 true. 🤣
Finished mine today. Had to use the Jack on the passenger side in order to loosen those 17mm bolts. (Jack pushing up on ratchet)On the drivers side I used the hammer since I could hammer downward
😂 Dudes clowning his viewers 😂 “if you don’t know how to jack up a car, you don’t need to be changing rotors” 😂 what the hell kind of educational video is this? 😂!!!! Very entertaining. You didn’t lightly grease the shims with heat resistant grease, back of brake pads or the pins. If they don’t move because of friction your brakes will stick and you’ll have problems. Should use thread locker on the bolts. Don’t want those falling out when driving. Should change and bleed the brake fluid while you’re in there. Good job mentioning to pump the brakes. You should test the wheel and make sure it doesn’t stick before you let it down. Good video! Best I’ve seen out there for a Kia Optima.
Not all of the optimas are the same. Some of the brake caliper pistons have to be spun at the same time as pressed in. There is a tool to help do it. Almost impossible with only a C clamp. Im doing a set this weekend, I will try to let you know whats up when I do it.
Quick question. I see the number 14 socket like you said and removed the caliper but when I went to put it back on the bottom bolt reciever was sticking out to far and wasn't loose like the top one was to allow it to spring back and forth. I had to put the c-clamp on it as well to allow clearance. Is that going to cause any problems down the road? The passenger side recievers were both loose and able to move back and forth with ease.
Only thing i seen that should of been done is to grease the pins and the brackets . That is a must . For me anyways. Also to thread lock the bolts before re installing.
I tried changing mine yesterday and I couldn’t get the caliper to compress with the new brake pads in it. Any ideas??? Same exact car 2015 Kia optima sxl front brake pads. I really don’t wanna call a mechanic
15.9 ~ 23.1 lb-ft for the two bolts that house the brake or visit www.kifomanual.com they have all the specs you need as well on step by type instructions not audio or visual old fashion reading hope that helps

Excellent video man! To the point, not long, and covers sizes of everything to make things quicker. Mega props! Keep making vids👍🏻
@@marctingey2117 thank you!
Made it look so easy, I’ll give a go! watch out people on the road
Loved this! Made my install on my 2019 Kia Optima go super smooth! Thank you so much!
Thank you my friend. Don't have the $350 to have it done. Perfectly clear video.

You got this!
Brakes are fairly easy it’s really cut and dry on most American made vehicles

I'm about to do the same for all 4 rotors AND brake pads! How long did your venture take?
My pops always told me to spray the rotor with brake cleaner and clean them before putting them on. Great video though.
Not a bad idea at all

Man I saw like 3 diff videos and all were confusing as shit and this was fukin clear as the sky
Thanks for your video , helped me out a lot

So exited to change my break pads and rotors this weekend all four wheels.

Nice!
Good one man! Nice video thanks.
Good video, but I cringed when the caliper assembly fell twice. Careful with your brake line.
I always cable tie it to the spring so it won’t drop.
Wire hanger or hook to prevent that. Those brake lines can get a leak real quick letting them fall like that. js
Thanks so much man! You’re gonna save me a lot of money.
ChillBro Baggins you’re welcome! Glad I can help
TiptonTv Just getting in to diy car stuff and I have the same car. I’ll watch and like any optima video you upload.
ChillBro Baggins I have more coming and feel free to ask anything
TiptonTv thanks bro. Will do
TiptonTv is love to see a video on how to clean the engine bay!
What lbs/torque did you tighten all the bolts down to? ie. brake caliper bolts, tire lug nuts, etc.
probably around 30

Same process for a 16 2.4L optima right.
Great video. Thanks my man.

It is true, in harbor freight shell the tool kit for 49$
Which model is like that?
Usually it's the rear pistons that require to be screwed back in front OK with C clamp.
I think the parking brake has to be off also (for the rear).
Pro Tip… 1st step push in the caliber piston by prying against the rotor with a large screwdriver. Beats a C-clamp.
thanks for the vid, man! very helpful
do you pump the brakes to tighten with the brake fluid reserve cap still off or after you've put it back on??????
Just goin to ask the same thing
Has to b on

@@barewolffish never done it never had issues. But it is a good thing. Never hurts. Thanks for watching
Did you leave the reservoir cap open while working on both sides? Or only when you compressed the caliper?
I’m hoping you sprayed your rotors with brake cleaner to remove the oil off of them before installing…
Never have and never had an issue. But I will look into in on the next install. Thanks
Do you even need to bleed the brakes ?
It’s a good idea to

@@juancastro151 are you using a c clamp?
Did you have to bleed the brakes afterwards?
Only if u open the line or they feel so pongy
Are the rear brakes different than this for the 2015? I have to do the rears and I’ve heard they are different
Most rears are a little different. I’ll check and report back
Yep, they are different. In terms of center depth, think of a pie pan verses a deep dish pie pan.
First comparison I thought of. 😂
Just changed my front brakes, here's hoping I don't die
You good bro?
@@alvarovalleibarra606 I made it!
Will this work for my 16 Kia Optima 2.4L ?
Yes
Are those two screws really important to put back in the rotor?
Anything you take off is really important
A right minor wanted urgently this same model
😮Ain't no way it this easy😮
Try it out
The bigger size is a number 3 tip
I would have definitely missed something💀. You sure I can't just take it to the dealer?
Haha you definitely can.
Do I need them brake rotor screws??
Same ?
Good video but those bracket bolts have to be torqued so that the bolts are tightened at the same specs.

It’s easy as fuck.. just the bleeding part is a bit confusing
