  • Whats up guys I know this is really simple but alot of people have been requesting I make a how to locktite a yoyo video. I like to apply threadlocker to all my yo-yos so I don't drop the axel and also so it stays tuned how I like it. This is kind of a yoyo hack that I super simple that I don't see enough people doing. I will be having more tutorials in the future both yoyo tricks and yo-yo maintence so let me know what you wanna see in the comments and thanks for watching.

    Another big thing is if you have a bearing seat problem, the vibe can't be tuned out at all. If the yoyo starts to squeak every time you take it apart, you're grinding the bearing post with the inner race of the bearing, basically removing chunks of metal off of the post. A solution I found to prevent the bearing seat problem is to put a pin drop of thin lube on the bearing post. Because the bearing post is all uneven, the bearing wobbles all over the place, and the thin lube allows the bearing to slide in easier. This happened to a 2016 Superstar I had, and I wished I found that solution sooner.

      Bryan Perez Good looks! My shutter squeaks when taking it apart and putting it together and it has vibe I can't tune out. I'll try some lube! Thanks for the heads up.

      Hey man, I have a yoyo that squeaked and thought it was normal. Now when I took my yoyo apart earlier I saw the inner bearing post is kind of ruined, little chunks and ano have came of the yoyo. Any tips?

    Tiny axles are the bane of your existence, i'd say. Great stuff, as always, Dylan.

    Hey, you finally made this video after talking about Locktite-ing your yoyos so much and saying you were going to do this video for a while :P
    Good video man, short and sweet and to the point without missing out on anything important. I enjoyed watching even though I already knew how to use Locktite, and don't even own any metal yoyos with adjustable axles yet lol

    Extremely helpful. Got a SKYVA recently and the axle was loose as hell out of box. I tightened it up by hand and it plays great now. I'm going to pick some of this up tomorrow and make it perma-awesome.

    I have a problem, my axle doesn't sit on the yoyo. Whenever I am twisting my yoyo, I am just doing it forever, without the yoyo getting fixed. Both sides of axle are ruined. What should I do?

    Hey Dyl,
    I'm 99% sure I've threaded/stripped the axle on my Magic yoyo m002. I've ordered a couple of new axles to try out, but if they don't fit, would this be a solution to fix the axle?

    • @JoeyFlowers
      @JoeyFlowers 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yup, the m002 = april.. something about it i guess.
      it was one of my first metals and i pretty much demolished it over tightening it.. the walls are rather high with a narrow gap so every time you get a know you pretty much have to just unscrew it, causing more wear on the axel.

      +Cyanide5 ya iknow :3 but my issue is solve now . my friend rethreaded it . im using a slightly large axel now still smooth .

    hey dylan! can you make a video about how to fix a stripped yoyo (not the axle)

    • @DylanKowalski123
      @DylanKowalski123  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chrissanto Lukito well it is usually ruined if you strip it. In like 20 years of yoyoing I have never stripped a yoyo before. Only thing tondo would be have it profesionally retapped but that would cost more than the yoyo

    • @chrissantolukito3311
      @chrissantolukito3311 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dylan Kowalski so I better throw that yoyo away and buy new yoyo ?

    • @joshuajames6872
      @joshuajames6872 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You Dylan Kowalski With a stripped axle or insert bushing it is possible to drill and tap it to accept a "set screw" or "axle" I mention "set screw" simply because once you drill out the threading smooth and tap it (creating new threads) with a kit you can purchase at your local hardware store, you'll need one size larger set screw for the width of the axle. I've done this on my favorite throws that have short axles which is much more common now that the desired finger spin cups that seem to come standard on any new production yo-yo. The only problem with axles that are 8mil and under is that if you're in the habit of unscrewing your top to detangle, you are slightly changing the solidarity and unification of the two halves. In fact that's exactly how you tune a yo-yo. Take out the axle flip it so its screwed into the opposite half, then if still vibe, pull the bearing and put it also on the opposite half, and try a different type of bearing flat bearings can take vibe out. But when your favorite OG throw is not able to be used, chances are that only one side in stripped which means you could purchase the same yoyo... I have 3 Vosun Vanquishes that I had found the perfect combo for the smoothest throw I've played ...or seen, it literally looks like its dead and not spinning. If something happened to one of the sides of the choice combo of the throw I made, I can always take one of the other vanquishes and find a half that spins well and put the damaged one to the side. Also you could check with your local machine and fabrication shops. When designing prototypes I found shops local that were able to drill and tap my broken stripped throws in under 10 minutes and charged me 10 bucks for 3 yo-yos. its work asking, however once you know they can machine it...its best to just bring your return top there and explain what you want done. Good luck, never throw out your favorite throw! in the worst case you could use JB weld, or even super glue to just hold the yoyo together to be put on your mantle. Good video Dylan, really thankful for your kindness to the community. Feeling like checking out the midwest thrower club contact me, Id like to see the Chicago yoyo club. take care- Josh

      YoyoCuber If you tune it previously to loctiting it, then it won't have vibe

    • @yoyocuber2565
      @yoyocuber2565 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dylan Kowalski if your bearing stops working and you have to replace it, you also have to tune the yoyo due to the fact each bearing is different (in the sense it plays slightly different)

    • @yoyocuber2565
      @yoyocuber2565 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan Connolly think of it this way, why doesn't any yoyo company do this to their axles, and yet they spend hundreds of extra dollars (YYR) to have a smooth yoyo

  • @EOS44
    @EOS44 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dude a would never do this to a yoyo... There's a reason why the axle isn't locked from the factory... If you ever need to tune the yoyo again you are fucked. It's much easier to be careful and simply don't loose the small axle lol

    • @DylanKowalski123
      @DylanKowalski123  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +ErickØSX the blue locktite is removable just makes the axel take pressure to twist apposed to easily turning and falling out. And if u tune it when you do it the axel is never going to move so the axel can't be causing tuning issue. Therefore all it could be is a bearing issue or pad issue.

    • @EOS44
      @EOS44 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dylan Kowalski that thing is removable? I didn't even heard that in the video lol. A method I find equally useful is to put some Teflon tape in the axle, that will just fit more tight in the side of the yoyo and it will never move. And you can always adjust it at will without the mess of the dried locktite.

    • @DylanKowalski123
      @DylanKowalski123  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +ErickØSX yeah I have done that before. The red locktite is permanent blue is removable. The red can be removed with heat tho

  • @obsceneXerror
    @obsceneXerror 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    DO NOT DO THIS TO YOUR YOYO. IT WILL DEVALUE THE YOYO AND IS NOT A GOOD IDEA FOR MANY OTHER REASONS. IT PREVENTS YOU FROM TUNING YOUR THROW AND IS A POINTLESS/BAD IDEA

    • @DylanKowalski123
      @DylanKowalski123  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +ENDRPHN the blue locktite is removable and makes tuning much easier. It's basically like liquid teflon. It just makes the axel harder to turn not stuck.
