Thanks for telling it like it is - I'm so tired of "gurus' preaching the "publish hundreds every week" concept. I know from experience that it doesn't take more than a dozen or so well-designed, well-planned books to make a solid income.

After I watched this video, your "breadcrumbs" led me to the Stacey B interview video.
Two comments especially resonated with me: "It's better to have it 80% and on the web than 100% and in your head!" from Stacey and "Launch it ugly" (I believe you said it.) It reminded me of another such expression that I keep saying to myself: "Done is better than perfect." A constant challenge to this Virgo!
Thanks for the interview and all of your great training. I have been publishing on Kindle since about 2013, with 100+ books - but most of them are heavily researched, non-fiction, time-consuming-to-write ebooks - with a few paperbacks as well. I learned more from that interview than all of the training I've accumulated over that time. Made me want to go back and rewrite all of my book descriptions, making sure to include non-spammy SEO. Thanks for the encouragement Rachel. I have some revenue from my low content books for the past five or so months. Like you said, be persistent and I am doing that. I also have advertised through Amazon. Mixed results.

I love your training videos! Unfortunately, I made two KDP's that suck because I had not found you yet. I am trying to figure out how to remove them from Amazon but it looks like that is not possible (hehe) 🙃

Can you give advice on building an email list without a website or blog?
I'm totally new to this and I love designing. Question: 1/ Can you also publish on Etsy? 2/ Have your own website with a blog that contains a link to the places where they can buy your books?
If you want to publish your books on any other platform as a paperback you'll need to purchase your own ISBN instead of using a free KDP generated ISBN. But if you'd like to publish your books on another platform in another format, such a hardcover, you can do that even if you've used a free KDP ISBN for your paperback. Each format of your book requires a separate ISBN.
Hi Rachel! You video came across and I really enjoyed it. I have a question. So this is my first time and I just published my book on Amazon. When I uploaded it on kdp, it looks great but on Amazon, it looks like the picture is zoomed and blurry, there was no picture of the back cover or inside/pages on Amazon. Is this normal? Other sellers' pages look fantastic with those details pictures but mine doesn't... If you know how to fix this issue, please let me know. Thank you!
I'm just getting started in this low content publishing. I did the journal thing, and practiced creating covers, but already I was thinking that this is not going to cut it, and no one is going to buy those things. Coloring books with a "hook", even adult coloring books, sound intriguing, but when I watch videos where vector art is converted into images, they're just too generic. I considered hiring a Fiverr artist to do specific themed line drawings, but that in itself could get very expensive. Do you recommend laying books out in Word or InDesign, or does it not matter with a coloring book?

Hi Rachel - I have a question regarding puzzle books. Is it fair use to use things like bands names, people, and brand names as answers to crossword puzzles and word searches? Examples: using Metallica as an answer in a 80s music puzzle, Tom Cruise as an answer to a movie puzzle, Coca-Cola as an answer to a food & drink puzzle
It's best to ask this question to someone who is an expert in intellectual property law. I personally avoid using any potentially trademarked words, names, etc because Amazon bans accounts that infringe on copyright and trademark. And I don't know enough about fair use to give you a useful answer.
Hey Rachel, how many low content books do you approximately have to publish on KDP to make 1000$ monthly? I know it's probably hard to tell, but maybe you could share your personal experience with us? Thanks in advance! ☺️
You're right-there's no easy way to give a firm answer on this. It will depend entirely on the skillset you bring to the table, how profitable each of your books are, if you're using ads, etc. Some can start generating $1,000 a month from a handful of books, while others I've seen publish several hundred to get to this mark. Personally, it took me about 5-ish months and I had around 100 or so books by that point, with roughly half of those actually making sales. But again, results can vary dramatically.

How do we get buyers on a email list if books are on Amazon? Are we allowed to put our email in the description? Can we put that info in the book itself?. I hope you do a video on this.
I have the same question.
You can place a URL in your book that leads to a relevant freebie online. The customer joins your list to download your freebie.

▶︎ Hi there @@idimatsaseke1313 - a "freebie" is a free gift which an author can give to someone who signs up to be on a mailing list.
▶︎ The freebie could be a PDF with extra info about one of their books, it could be a short video showing a technique or a How To lesson related to one of their books, it coud be an email Series which is drip-fed over a number of days.
▶︎ If the potential customer is interested in the author's fiction books, it might be descriptions about one or more of the characters or a back story. If it's a Low Content Book it could be a PDF Checklist, or PDF To Do List etc related to the book.
The most important thing is to have this person sign up to a mailing list - they're showing interest in one or more of your books - and sending email updates to them will keep them interested. Hope this makes sense :-)

My kdp account has been closed, is there a way to open a new account safely
The only way to open a new account is through a different legal entity, ie. a business with its own tax number, bank details, etc. Amazon also tracks your IP address, so this might still be an issue.

I got two questions, since I know that you are also experienced in promoting your books via an Email list.
I am currently setting up my PDF-file that I will give away for free with a newsletter subscription on the homepage I am promoting my KDP low content books.
1) I want to integrate Amazon-Affiliate-Links in that PDF that lead to full content books on Amazon (not my own) that might be interested for my customers. I know how it works but I heard rumors now, that it is not allowed to implement these links in an offline-file like a PDF. Do you know if this is true?
2) I also heard that it is allowed by Amazon to link to your own books via Amazon-Affiliate-Links. Which would mean that people could click on these links in my PDF, then get to the sales page on Amazon and if they purchase, I don't only get my roalties for the book sales but also an additional 4% or something of the book price because it was an Affiliate sale. Have you ever heard about that and is that true.

Yep, On Facebook, only about 30% of your followers even see your posts. So, not a good platform for advertising.
Advertising anything on Social Media sites like FB or Instagram is a waste of your money.
Amazon is the most greedy company
