I have 12 years active duty with the Air Force in Security Forces. I separated in 2018 and worked for a contractor in Afghanistan as a K9 Handler for 18 months until the Taliban kicked everyone out. After I lost the contract job, I went back to school. I will finish a degree in Information Technology spring 2025. Should I start looking/applying for govn't jobs now or wait until I have the degree/final transcript in hand?
Get a job with a contractor. A govt job sucks. The chance of getting a raise anywhere near the inflation rate during El Commandte Trump's reign is slim. A contractor position in IT for one of the alphabet soup agencies in either VA or MD will pay you significantly more than what a GS7 step 1 makes in DC. Yeah the govt job has some security but you have leadership that makes your worst NCO look like the best leader ever. Also it a lot quicker to get hired by a contractor and get that security clearance than in the Federal govt. Just remember THC and mj are still illegal at the Federal level.
I just got hired for DOT GS7 step 1.The position has a full potential level of GS-12 what does it mean ? And how long should I expect to be promoted Thank you for taking your time to answer all of our questions
Yup that’s a full ride to a promotion every year for the next three years. Just stay doing your job, contribute and ensure you are in close dialogue with your supervisor for expectations so you can be promoted. Good luck and congrats
@@ssjrose9641thanks a lot while my current contract offers a higher compensation of $65k more.I am hopeful that this decision will prove to be the right one in the long term”.
Thanks for the video. VERY informative.
You're welcome!
Your BOP question. I think they will lose their 1.7 and if transferred to non Leo, will add 10 years until retirement date.

You hit the jackpot! Stay there, out of trouble, and you will be a gs 12 in like 3 or 4 years.

You have to be real desperate to apply for a federal job in 2025 😂
I am desperate because because I have bills to pay and don't have a job for 13 months now
You have to be real rich to not be desperate in 2025.
The trump recession is coming. Can't get fired if you're an entrenched fed
