This was great. I do really love the Panerai design language - the cushion case is classic (literally, tracing back to vintage rolex oyster cases). They just need to invest more in their movements. I don't think in-house movements are the be-all, end-all of watchmaking. But, at their price point, it's almost expected. Or at least a very high level of finishing when they go with a display case back.

I don't disagree and don't agree at the same time. I think the push for Panerai is to move upmarket so going to in-house movements and focusing on high end finishing makes sense. At the same time the design DNA of Panerai is the tool watch watch which definitely doesn't need this. I'd love to see Panerai focus on more exotic materials because for me that is really where they shine. Glad you enjoyed this 🙏

@@MarcoFerranteWatchesI agree - imagine if they were priced (at retail) closer to Tudor - they’d be extremely well received. Criticism of their movements would be blunted. They may have just leaned a little too hard into “luxury” branding.

I think they should invest in finishing as the in house movements are solid. But if they do that then it will affect the sales because it will mean their prices will increase

The Panerai dials in white and light blue are awesome. I still can’t get used to the cumbersome crown guard. I may change my mind eventually, but hoping that Panerai can update its design cues.

If you don't like the crown guard, you can always go for the Radiomir which I think is a fantastic choice!
