    Heather I am with you on the height thing. I am so scared of roads that don’t have guardrails too. Love watching your adventures.

    We’re so happy to see you going down PCH! We live in WA but often take six week trips down there so your going by our fave places. Good to know boondocking isn’t allowed a lot of places now. We’ve never done van travel. Love seeing your reactions to the sunset, the homes, the barefoot surfers, etc. I’m from Hawaii so that’s my life for most of it. Love watching you!!

    We drove the PCH from LA to San Fran back in 1982. We didn't camp or even sightsee, except for St Luis Obispo and Solvang. We just wanted to drive the road and visit San Fran, plus we only had a week vacation. The coast is so damn beautiful. Looking forward to see what I missed by not camp or stopping.

    Excellent start to the Pacific Coast Highway. The beach sunset looked stunning. My family all watch your videos they are best on large screen. We are excited to see your West Coast adventure. I hope you get to see that bridge in the Big Sur and the massive redwoods. Amazing video guys. Heather you are doing great with roads with no guardrail. I'm scared of that aswell. Travel safe

    I lived in CA and traveled many many years and I wouldn’t stay at any rest stop. They aren’t the safest. If the have 24 hr security it might be ok.
    Make sure you stop in at Salvang, very fun to walk around for an hour or two. Also Pismo Beach, Hearst castle and Big Sur, check out their beach). It’s spectacular. I can give you many many places to go if you want anymore.

    Excellent RT up PCH. I used to live in Monterey so please say hi as you pass by, I was walking distance from Del Monte Beach. It's probably too late but jam up to the lost coast (Shelter Cove, CA) just north of Leggett, CA. Cool black sand beaches and awesome hiking along the coast. btw stay off The Million Dollar highway if you don't like edges, no barrier - tight narrow 2-lane twisty roads - w/big trucks - no shoulder and about 5,000' straight down in places where you can't see the bottom. Safe Travels waiting for next leg of PCH!

    Woot woot!! Hope you get to take a little more time visiting California. There is just to much to see if you speed by it.
    I got a little chuckle that one of you is scared of roads up on cliffs, cause I think by now, you know why I am laughing.

    wow the transit made it through all the passes to get where you are? Thats amazing!! Have you traveled i-80 by chance? Were the passes tough for the transit?

    • @mikeandheather
      @mikeandheather  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the van did make it through all those passes! Not sure if we drove i-80 during our time in California but our van has never had any issues getting though passes (knock on wood) it isn't the fastest up large hills but it always gets to the top haha
      We drove it to the top of Pike's Peak in Colorado, through many mountainous National Parks and even the entire length of the Alaska Highway to Alaska and back. We are very fortunate our van has gotten us to many amazing places, we love it :)
      Thank you so much for watching, we really appreciate it!

    hey! how did you guys cover up the pieces of memory foam board tightly that you use on your bed?

    • @mikeandheather
      @mikeandheather  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! We laid the foam on the wooden board then put the fabric over the foam and stapled it to the bottom of the board using a staple gun that we bought for $10 at Home Depot. Basically we just wrapped the fabric around the board and foam like we would wrap a Christmas present and instead of using tape to hold the fabric on we used staples haha Hope that helps! Please let us know if you need more information! Thanks for watching :)

    Whats boom docking plz? im from Sydney nsw n iv never herd that before.

    • @mikeandheather
      @mikeandheather  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries! We actually never heard of it before we started researching van life before as well! Boondocking is dispersed camping on public land, basically it is where you can park/camp legally for free on government property like in National Forests, Access Roads, etc. Hope that helps!
      Thank you so much for watching, all the way from Sydney?! Wow that is too cool!
