Very nice video! We live on the Oregon coast in Reedsport. We were bummed to see you totally skipped over Coos Bay and Charleston ( Shore Acres botanical garden and a photographers paradise ext.) and Winchester Bay /Reedsport ( Banshie Hill Dunes-Dunefest, amazing crabbing, Umqua Lighthouse, Chainsaw festival). If you research these areas you will see they are worth checking out ! Would love to see you include these areas in your video to help grow our community!

I love the Oregon Coast so much. Neskowin, Pacific City, and Bandon are my top three favorite places to visit. The beaches there are so beautiful. All of the coast is amazing.

Love the Oregon Coast, particularly the vibe of Seaside. Love the Goonies and decided to check out the area and fell in love with it. We got married just north of Canon Beach on Chapman Beach last October. We can’t wait until spring to return.❤

Thanks for doing this video. The Oregon coast is one of my favorite places in the USA. I just feel like I'm home when I visit but because of the wind, fog and rain I choose to live a ways inland.

Good video. Seaside, Astoria, Cannon Beach, Florence, Bandon, Tillamook, Newport, etc, etc have all changed so much over the decades. A lot less pulp mills and a lot more traffic. Seaside use to be an incredible place in the 80s. Reedsport had its own cheese factory in the 70s. Winchester Bay use to be dotted with fishing boats all going for salmon. The Shamrocks I, II, and III, and The Holidays I and II use to be the biggest charters at the time. A&W Rootbeer places where all up and down the coast. Definitely wetter too. Alot more rain than in recent decades. Lots of changes. Seaside arcades have changed a lot too but very glad they still survive.
I can only imagine, would have been cool to be here back in the day. The arcade I don't think will ever die, it's such a sweet spot haha. Thanks for the comment and checking out my videos, I appreciate it!
I lived in Cannon Beach for a few years in the early 2000s and love returning for a visit whenever I can. All of these towns are great but CB will always have a special place in my heart. Gorgeous beach and scenery and lots of fun shops most of which don’t sell the usual tired tacky touristy stuff.
Nice video! The Oregon coast is one of my favorite places in the US and I’ve always had a great time there. I especially liked that you covered the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport. It’s one of the best aquariums on the West Coast and really impressive that a small city like Newport built it.
Go eat at Clearwater across the bridge next time you go! I've gone there the past couple times and it's been my favorite seafood spot. I've lived in Oregon my whole life, trust me it's good.
Drive from Florence to Yachats. Or reverse. Done. From Florence to Crater. Stop at Sawtooth Falls. You can go to Redwoods Crescent City up too or down back out Grant's Pass. Up Smith River.
We live in Sutherlin more inland, but do enjoy Coast visits occasionally. I used to live at Lincoln City 90's working at Salishan Lodge-Gleneden Beach and this is an all day as an housekeeper job seeing Golf Balls flying job! I enjoyed living up River along the Siuslaw and picking Chantrell Mushrooms that grow abundantly in the forest. I also enjoyed working at the Ester Lee Motel that is right on the Beachfront.

I personally would stay in Cannon Beach, but Florence will be more inexpensive. Regardless of where you stay you will enjoy yourself. I think the northern region is pretty dense with things, you have Astoria, Seaside & Cannon beach all withing 35 minutes of each other... all with so many things to do and explore and hike. That would be my preference.

Well done video. Gave us lots of ideas for our upcoming trip to Oregon. I found it frustrating,though, that he kept skipping all over the coast. Started in central coast, then went far north, then south, then back north then back south again. For someone not familiar with Oregon towns this was very confusing.
Thank you for the comment and I’ve thought a lot about this today. I can’t exactly recall my rationale for this but I was trying to go from my #10 place on the coast to my #1… which means I couldn’t just go north to south or in some order… the order was what I believe to be the top 10 places on the coast. I totally get that this is confusing and I wish I had more order to it, but I hope you gained some value from it and stick around for more travel videos. Thank you 🙏
@@JacksonMeyer we are staying in Garibaldi and I plan on starting up at Cannon and driving down to Florence. No rest for the wicked :) We are going to use every bit of daylight to see what the Oregon Coast has to offer.

Like your choices, but there are so many more adventures to be had! Also- showing towns from north to south (or vice versa), would be helpful for tourists or road-trippers, so they don’t miss out. Nice work!
I agree with you that there are more adventure to be had, but a top 10 is a top 10... and it is REALLY hard to narrow it down. I have quite a few more lists coming in the future and it is always a struggle to get to that final list.
Great vid. I am in Edmonds WA and I have done the OR coast a few times. I always want to get locals opinions and there were a few that I did not know about.
I've always enjoyed Neskowin. You seem to have skipped Heceta Head and Sea Lion Caves (smelly but interesting). There used to be several local cheese factories - Reedsport was one, Bandon was another, making really good cheddar. Tillamook bought them, and shut them down, to eliminate their competition. Langlois at one time had a super good French cheese. For curvy, slow nostalgia take the Carpenterville Road north of Brookings, formerly 101!
REALLY good tips! thank you for the comment - I didn't skip Haceta, I mean I did in the video, but with so many lighthouses on the OC, hard to find a reason why Haceta needs to be on there when I left out a bunch of them, unless there is something spectacular that I missed? I like it... it's too crowded for me that's for sure. Sea Lion caves are sort of interesting to me, I hate that is costs s much for literally a crappy smell and idk, I don't ever recommend that to people. I didn't know that about the cheese factories, interesting. And yesssssss, I'll check out Carpenterville Road next time.

Yup yup - there are quite a few OC towns that are known for the crabs in their bays… I had to make a decision that made the most amount of sense to the most amount of people. So much to do here…
Great video! We visited spring of last year and fell in love! We ok only wonder about jobs... what types of jobs are there out there for a young family to relocate to the coastline... possibly cannon beach area? We loved Tillamook/Oceanside (where we stayed) but just curious on the financial aspect of things in order to be able to relocate out west(currently living in Indiana)
Super good question, and thanks for the kind comment. So coastal jobs are centered around tourism and education, then there is the stalwart businesses that support local and a lot of small entrepreneurs. Remote jobs are obviously the play... or live inland in Salem and Portland where there is just more commerce and large businesses. I will always Recommend Oregon to people, it really is an incredible state with everything you'd want... could use slighter warmer weather and less rain, but It's very nice!
As someone from the North Coast who loves Tillamook, played them in Highschool as a sports team, and LOVE the factory... just recently on my southern Oregon Coast Roadtrip, I had Face Rock Creamery, and I'm definitely a believer and you have a valid case to be made :)

I wish you had featured Southern Oregon Coast a bit more-Brookings has a lot to offer as well as Gold Beach. That said, Canon Beach was the perfect first choice-even the drive to Haystack is breathtaking.

I appreciate this comment more than you know, no joke - Lincoln city is my 11. We had a beach house in Gleneden, I have a lot of memories there… but I had to make a decision. I had to decide on what town it would replace and it got me stumped.
It's a good question, as many places on the coast can actually be quite expensive in the summer, we actually normally stay in our car (Prius haha) and or stay camp at sites with a tent. I don't have any experience staying at Airbnb's or anything like that, sorry.
I sleep in car at cape Perpetua by the cell tower great internet reception. You go walk beach between churn and thors in morning. Usually nobody else there. If they are don't care park anyway.
Btw you should check out sea and sand campground and once you go down the path to the beach there’s a little stream of water that’s fun to grab a shovel and build a dam make a vid like that pls
This is a GREAT question, as someone who wants to be a respectful drone operator there are some sacrifices one has to make. I try to follow the law,but the law is super grey in some areas so I’d rather play it safe. There are a lot of protected areas… any island off the coast is off limited if flying “near” when there are birds nesting… i didn’t want to take my chances and so I didn’t fly much. In the description you’ll see all the people who did fly in these areas and I used their footage. So in short I didn’t have many issues when I was filming, but you always want to be aware of the law.
Sorry! ;) I do get excited and try to deliver the information fast, but I believe that my top 3 places in CB are Pizza A'Feta, Bill's & Bruce's candy kitchen - make sure to say hi to kyle at Bruces!

It’s a good question, but I will definitely say no. Is it possible, yes… but not to really enjoy them. I often travel and find that I never have enough time to truly enjoy where I am since I am constantly on a schedule to get to the next place. I think it would be better to plan on like doing Northern Oregon Coast, Central Oregon Coast, or Southern Oregon coast… each deserving at least 2 days each. 👍
I am planning to take advantage of a business trip to Oregon, I am planning to do a quick Coast trip, from Astoria to Bandon in 1 day, stopping in key places. Do you think it is doable and worth? Thank you.
Personally, I wouldn't do this, you can't really do it in a day. I mean you can, but you won't be able to stop much. If you do this, it will be one heck of an adventure and story, but I think it would be better to maybe do like the northern or southern half... and stop in those key towns, or attractions, but as it is, the whole state is like 7.5 hours from border to border.... its a lot! Have fun!
Traffic twisting roads and ALOT of small towns that slow you down a lot. Was raised on the coast and it takes hours upon hours upon hours to drive it all. Enjoy a select section
I think you should visit every beach and coastal area in the entire cost of Oregon. However, there are no good motels anywhere north of the California and Oregon border. Period. If you can't afford the higher priced hotels on the coast, don't forget to pack your camping gear. You'll need it. Of course, it goes without saying (but I always say it anyway) Oregon State Parks are top notch...
@@JacksonMeyer I've lived in Grants Pass since 2014, love the southern Oregon coast experience with my teardrop camper, and noticed that right around the pandemic suddenly I couldn't "legally" camp "pretty much anywhere" along the roadside overlooking the ocean. That really put a crimp in my spontaneous camping style. When you do your next video, comment on that, please.

One of the more enjoyable aspects of your work, your videos, is the fact that you narrate it yourself, which gives it a personal, more intimate touch. I typically don't subscribe to channels that use computer or AI-generated voices, or that use someone who has that ultra professional, radio commercial salesperson. It sounds phony and generic, and it's just off-putting. By using your own voice, and putting yourself and your wife into the video, you create an organic, from-the-heart style video. So yeah, Jackson, keep up the good work! Also, like Oregon, Washington not only has amazing beaches but breathtaking mountains as well, with Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker being the two most well known. That too is another potential topic to cover. Oh and let's not forget the Olympia National Forest!
Yes, the Oregon Coast is notorious for rainy wet winters (still worth visiting) but you aren't going to get nice warm days unless you are in the summer or shoulder season. Summer is my favorite time of year, that's for sure.
Rock Stacks, "Sea Stacks". The Iredale is in Hammond not in Astoria. People will get confused. You forgot the South Jetty over look. Great video and nice sellection of locations. Dont forget Cape Meares and its lighthouse for whale watching.
The Iredale is in Hammond/Warrenton area, but If you are going north of Gerhart I kinda put all of Astoria in that range.... My top 10 Astoria video goes into more details about Astoria, and I put the South Jetty Overlook in that one. Thanks! And I actually haven't done cape meares... I know I need to.
@@JacksonMeyer Use to live in Astoria. Did some work at Stevens Historical site (bunker area). I have a couple drone videos in the Astoria, River area. Ya, Cape Meares and Cape Lookout are great places to explore the coast.
It's a good question, I haven't explored as much of the Oregon coast as I have of the Oregon Coast... in all reality it goes without saying that the Washington coast is far less explored and developed than the Oregon Coast. With 101 pretty much going all along the coast, all of it is pretty east to access, Washington has islands and inaccessible by car areas that make it more wild. I love that.
It’s a good question and I have a bad answer: it varies. the OC is super touristy in the summer and prices skyrocket, Cole in the shoulder season to save on prices. And many cute towns just don’t have the demand and it’s low prices year round for really cute stays!

Manzanita is sick, but it’s a hidden gem and just didn’t make my top 10 as it really doesn’t have an iconic features that make it a tourist spot but more of a low key relaxing weekend. I really like Manzanita though. Thanks for watching and commenting!

During all the fires a few years back, my husband and I went down the Oregon Coast, and it was a wonderful ride. Really enjoyed it.

Good video. Seaside, Astoria, Cannon Beach, Florence, Bandon, Tillamook, Newport, etc, etc have all changed so much over the decades. A lot less pulp mills and a lot more traffic. Seaside use to be an incredible place in the 80s. Reedsport had its own cheese factory in the 70s. Winchester Bay use to be dotted with fishing boats all going for salmon. The Shamrocks I, II, and III, and The Holidays I and II use to be the biggest charters at the time. A&W Rootbeer places where all up and down the coast. Definitely wetter too. Alot more rain than in recent decades. Lots of changes. Seaside arcades have changed a lot too but very glad they still survive.
I can only imagine, would have been cool to be here back in the day. The arcade I don't think will ever die, it's such a sweet spot haha. Thanks for the comment and checking out my videos, I appreciate it!
I lived in Cannon Beach for a few years in the early 2000s and love returning for a visit whenever I can. All of these towns are great but CB will always have a special place in my heart. Gorgeous beach and scenery and lots of fun shops most of which don’t sell the usual tired tacky touristy stuff.
Love it, I would have much enjoyed seeing CB back in the day, and I agree - the authenticity is cleansing ;)
Nice video! The Oregon coast is one of my favorite places in the US and I’ve always had a great time there. I especially liked that you covered the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport. It’s one of the best aquariums on the West Coast and really impressive that a small city like Newport built it.
Go eat at Clearwater across the bridge next time you go! I've gone there the past couple times and it's been my favorite seafood spot. I've lived in Oregon my whole life, trust me it's good.
We love Manazanita, We go for a week every year and stay at the State Park. Day trips to Cannon Beach, Short Sands beach etc....

Drive from Florence to Yachats. Or reverse. Done. From Florence to Crater. Stop at Sawtooth Falls. You can go to Redwoods Crescent City up too or down back out Grant's Pass. Up Smith River.
We live in Sutherlin more inland, but do enjoy Coast visits occasionally. I used to live at Lincoln City 90's working at Salishan Lodge-Gleneden Beach and this is an all day as an housekeeper job seeing Golf Balls flying job! I enjoyed living up River along the Siuslaw and picking Chantrell Mushrooms that grow abundantly in the forest. I also enjoyed working at the Ester Lee Motel that is right on the Beachfront.

I personally would stay in Cannon Beach, but Florence will be more inexpensive. Regardless of where you stay you will enjoy yourself. I think the northern region is pretty dense with things, you have Astoria, Seaside & Cannon beach all withing 35 minutes of each other... all with so many things to do and explore and hike. That would be my preference.
I lived in Tillamook for a few years. I miss everything about it.... except the winters.
haha I feel that, it can be testy, but man the summers make up for it, it's unreal!

Well done video. Gave us lots of ideas for our upcoming trip to Oregon. I found it frustrating,though, that he kept skipping all over the coast. Started in central coast, then went far north, then south, then back north then back south again. For someone not familiar with Oregon towns this was very confusing.
Thank you for the comment and I’ve thought a lot about this today. I can’t exactly recall my rationale for this but I was trying to go from my #10 place on the coast to my #1… which means I couldn’t just go north to south or in some order… the order was what I believe to be the top 10 places on the coast. I totally get that this is confusing and I wish I had more order to it, but I hope you gained some value from it and stick around for more travel videos. Thank you 🙏

I agree with you that there are more adventure to be had, but a top 10 is a top 10... and it is REALLY hard to narrow it down. I have quite a few more lists coming in the future and it is always a struggle to get to that final list.

I've always enjoyed Neskowin. You seem to have skipped Heceta Head and Sea Lion Caves (smelly but interesting).
There used to be several local cheese factories - Reedsport was one, Bandon was another, making really good
cheddar. Tillamook bought them, and shut them down, to eliminate their competition. Langlois at one time had a
super good French cheese. For curvy, slow nostalgia take the Carpenterville Road north of Brookings, formerly 101!
REALLY good tips! thank you for the comment - I didn't skip Haceta, I mean I did in the video, but with so many lighthouses on the OC, hard to find a reason why Haceta needs to be on there when I left out a bunch of them, unless there is something spectacular that I missed? I like it... it's too crowded for me that's for sure. Sea Lion caves are sort of interesting to me, I hate that is costs s much for literally a crappy smell and idk, I don't ever recommend that to people. I didn't know that about the cheese factories, interesting. And yesssssss, I'll check out Carpenterville Road next time.

Bandon is also known for its fishing and crabbing in the Coquille River....you forgot to cover the sports side of the Oregon coast.
Yup yup - there are quite a few OC towns that are known for the crabs in their bays… I had to make a decision that made the most amount of sense to the most amount of people. So much to do here…
You should take some adventures inland sometime. The traffic is much better east of the 5. High lakes, waterfalls, and desert so many treasures.

Great video! We visited spring of last year and fell in love! We ok only wonder about jobs... what types of jobs are there out there for a young family to relocate to the coastline... possibly cannon beach area? We loved Tillamook/Oceanside (where we stayed) but just curious on the financial aspect of things in order to be able to relocate out west(currently living in Indiana)
Super good question, and thanks for the kind comment. So coastal jobs are centered around tourism and education, then there is the stalwart businesses that support local and a lot of small entrepreneurs. Remote jobs are obviously the play... or live inland in Salem and Portland where there is just more commerce and large businesses. I will always Recommend Oregon to people, it really is an incredible state with everything you'd want... could use slighter warmer weather and less rain, but It's very nice!
The Face Rock Creamery in Bandon is THE place for coastal cheese, and no reeky smell of cow pie.
As someone from the North Coast who loves Tillamook, played them in Highschool as a sports team, and LOVE the factory... just recently on my southern Oregon Coast Roadtrip, I had Face Rock Creamery, and I'm definitely a believer and you have a valid case to be made :)

I wish you had featured Southern Oregon Coast a bit more-Brookings has a lot to offer as well as Gold Beach. That said, Canon Beach was the perfect first choice-even the drive to Haystack is breathtaking.

Summer can be very crowded! Weekends and 3 day holidays are bad too. It’s my home.

It's a good question, as many places on the coast can actually be quite expensive in the summer, we actually normally stay in our car (Prius haha) and or stay camp at sites with a tent. I don't have any experience staying at Airbnb's or anything like that, sorry.

So did you have any trouble with drone laws when you were filming this?
This is a GREAT question, as someone who wants to be a respectful drone operator there are some sacrifices one has to make. I try to follow the law,but the law is super grey in some areas so I’d rather play it safe. There are a lot of protected areas… any island off the coast is off limited if flying “near” when there are birds nesting… i didn’t want to take my chances and so I didn’t fly much. In the description you’ll see all the people who did fly in these areas and I used their footage. So in short I didn’t have many issues when I was filming, but you always want to be aware of the law.

Oof, I would say I would prioritize time on the coast, not seeing the most, so whatever maximizes your time.

It’s a good question, but I will definitely say no. Is it possible, yes… but not to really enjoy them. I often travel and find that I never have enough time to truly enjoy where I am since I am constantly on a schedule to get to the next place. I think it would be better to plan on like doing Northern Oregon Coast, Central Oregon Coast, or Southern Oregon coast… each deserving at least 2 days each. 👍
Don't waste two days. Instead, give yourself two weeks' worth of thrills and great memories on the Oregon Coast.

Personally, I wouldn't do this, you can't really do it in a day. I mean you can, but you won't be able to stop much. If you do this, it will be one heck of an adventure and story, but I think it would be better to maybe do like the northern or southern half... and stop in those key towns, or attractions, but as it is, the whole state is like 7.5 hours from border to border.... its a lot! Have fun!

I think you should visit every beach and coastal area in the entire cost of Oregon. However, there are no good motels anywhere north of the California and Oregon border. Period. If you can't afford the higher priced hotels on the coast, don't forget to pack your camping gear. You'll need it. Of course, it goes without saying (but I always say it anyway) Oregon State Parks are top notch...

@@JacksonMeyer I've lived in Grants Pass since 2014, love the southern Oregon coast experience with my teardrop camper, and noticed that right around the pandemic suddenly I couldn't "legally" camp "pretty much anywhere" along the roadside overlooking the ocean. That really put a crimp in my spontaneous camping style. When you do your next video, comment on that, please.

It sounds phony and generic, and it's just off-putting. By using your own voice, and putting yourself and your wife into the video, you create an organic, from-the-heart style video. So yeah, Jackson, keep up the good work! Also, like Oregon, Washington not only has amazing beaches but breathtaking mountains as well, with Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker being the two most well known. That too is another potential topic to cover. Oh and let's not forget the Olympia National Forest!
Is this more of a summer thing?
Yes, the Oregon Coast is notorious for rainy wet winters (still worth visiting) but you aren't going to get nice warm days unless you are in the summer or shoulder season. Summer is my favorite time of year, that's for sure.
Rock Stacks, "Sea Stacks". The Iredale is in Hammond not in Astoria. People will get confused. You forgot the South Jetty over look.
Great video and nice sellection of locations. Dont forget Cape Meares and its lighthouse for whale watching.
The Iredale is in Hammond/Warrenton area, but If you are going north of Gerhart I kinda put all of Astoria in that range.... My top 10 Astoria video goes into more details about Astoria, and I put the South Jetty Overlook in that one. Thanks! And I actually haven't done cape meares... I know I need to.

Do you like Oregon coast more than Washington coast
It's a good question, I haven't explored as much of the Oregon coast as I have of the Oregon Coast... in all reality it goes without saying that the Washington coast is far less explored and developed than the Oregon Coast. With 101 pretty much going all along the coast, all of it is pretty east to access, Washington has islands and inaccessible by car areas that make it more wild. I love that.

How much is to rent an hotel on those places
It’s a good question and I have a bad answer: it varies. the OC is super touristy in the summer and prices skyrocket, Cole in the shoulder season to save on prices. And many cute towns just don’t have the demand and it’s low prices year round for really cute stays!

PS my grandson was in town and we flew airplanes off the top of The Column thanks to your video. I've been up there many times but didn't realize this awesome thing to do. Thanks to your video I do now. My son and I collected stray airplanes around and put them at the bottom of the stairs for ppl to fly. Again thanks to your video.

Manzanita is sick, but it’s a hidden gem and just didn’t make my top 10 as it really doesn’t have an iconic features that make it a tourist spot but more of a low key relaxing weekend. I really like Manzanita though. Thanks for watching and commenting!
