i've been clicking my jaw for 4 years and this is the first video that i have found in all this time that is actually useful. i've been doing this exercise for 3 days and my clicking is practically gone! i'm obviously gonna continue doing this exercise for a month but still... thanks for your help, doc! you've taken away the source of so much pain and discomfort that i've been carrying for 4 years in just 3 days. amazing.
I found this very helpful, thank you!! It is very kind of you to offer this advice for free. I went to see a specialist who charged $150 for a consultation and then told me I needed an orthodontic device and braces that would cost $30k in total (mind you my jaw problems are pretty minor). Absolutely nuts to do that without trying some natural techniques first
(Older video, but just in case people still find it...) Thank you for addressing this issue that so many of us face. I struggled with this for many years when I was a teenager and young adult. I had some especially bad episodes when under physical stress (working out, dental work, etc.) to the point where I couldn't open my jaw more than half an inch or so. I want to share the solution that worked for me in case it helps anyone else. Disclaimer: This is just me. I'm not saying it will work for anyone else. If you have any doubt, don't do it. If you can't do it without pain, don't do it. etc. (Do only at your own risk.) This is what I worked for me: A few times a day when my jaw is working properly (i.e., just little pops, but not locked), I take my first and second finger together and set them gently on the soft tissue that's over the jaw joint. To find the right spot: - I set my fingers in the area. - Then open my jaw and feel for the hard bone under the soft tissue that feels like it's sort of pushing out a bit as I move my jaw. - Then I move my fingers (together still) very slightly forward and down until I find a softer spot just in front of the pushed out part. Once I find that spot, I give it the slightest pressure--not much, just slightly more than a simple touch. Then gently open and close my jaw in a normal manner several times. I typically only had the problem on my right side, so mostly concentrated on that side. But sometimes would also do my left side after the right side. After a year or two of doing this, my jaw no longer popped. I also use the same technique to unlock my jaw in the very rare occasions where it still gets locked up. It almost never happens anymore. It might happen if I'm at the dentist for a long time, like for a root canal and such. If it does occur, I can easily unlock it using this technique (though I do have to warn my dentist that I might have to do so :-). Hope this helps someone. Fun side note: Believe it or not, I learned this technique when I was watching some SF series on TV. The series was pretty bad and lasted only one season, but it's the most valuable thing I've ever gotten out of the thousands of hours of my life I've spent in front of the TV. :-)

Thank You so much for this video. I thought it was too simple to work , but it helped tremendously. I had a click when opening and closing. I'm glad I found these videos. Around when I got braces I had a Herbst Appliance procedure to adjust my bite. After that my jaw started clicking obnoxiously when I yawned, ate, or moved my jaw side to side. When I asked a couple years later I was told if it wasn't "hurting me" there wasn't anything they could do/were willing to do to fix it. Its been a little over 10 years now and I feel my jaw clicks more than ever and even gets stiff on the left side every so often. I also had same surgery 2.5 years ago. It turned my life into a nightmare. I had severe jaw pain for a year, 24/7. I've been misdiagnosed many times, spent all my savings on wrong treatments. The pain finally stopped naturally but a few weeks later, I started having tinnitus and jaw clicking issue :( I don't know what to do next... I can't afford TMJ treatments right now, I don't even know what's going on with my jaw joints. Panoramic X rays were showing no arthritis,...
@@rikal2027 I can't say truthfully if the pain and clicking has gone already, but I have been doing the exercises everyday so far. What I realised is that I have to be gentle when doing them or I may make things worse. I also wear glasses. After 2 weeks of the jaw exercise, I noticed that the click is completely gone. Many thanks for what you shared. Hopefully more people will benefit from the video🙏
Going to give a shot. Once I open wide it clicks once on the right side. It stops while I still try to maintain the same path. Also doesn't click at all when I skew my chin left or right while opening wide. What's that about?

I have had clicking jaw for almost 4 years now and doing this for only 10 minutes made the clicking less noticeable, can’t wait to see the results over time!
I don't understand the purpose of this exercise. Isn't this KEEPING the disc displaced? (It never clickes, never reduces and slips back into place over the condyle), and in fact further stretching out the ligaments? Are you basically just giving op on disc reduction, and working to build a pseudodisc?
THANK YOU I'm gonna start doing this and I can feel slight differences immediately. Surgery is so expensive and this might be an alternative. I'm gonna tell the dentist about this anyway to see what they think.

Thanks once again
You are very welcome!
i just watch part 1 and 2,it does have changes in my jaw...tnx so much...
My jaw clicked for the past 12 years. My summer holiday has just begun and I’m going to practice this all time during my vacation. After my vacation I’ll give an update
I’ve been practicing a lot and it is so much better now! It’s not completely gone but I would say it’s like 75% better. I could notice it was going better within the first 2 days! I’m gonna keep practicing in the hope it will get fixed 100%!
@@Sycon-X any update
I had this ever since my braces got removed and 12th grade and I am 29 now. Im definitely going to be doing this thank you
What the hell?! It actually works! Did it for like half a minute and it has stopped clicking!
I took a really hard punch long ago, and my jaw acts up pretty badly sometimes.
Both of your techniques helped a lot, and very quickly!!! Thank you for putting this on TH-cam!! I seriously appreciate it!!
i took a punch at sparring much boxing and it clicks like crazy 3 weeks now...damn...so many people have it !
PRP injections into the ligament attached to the disc can help with permanent recapture. It will tighten up that ligament and pull the disc back into place.
man i felt instant relief thank you!
Just one day of doing this and I feel 100 times better.
Oh thank you sir!! I am trying to stay more aware of my movements. These have helped so much!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

just saw this video. hopefully this will work in me. I've been suffering this tmj pain since college. thank you!

Thank you so much! This technique really helped me. I've been having a clicking sound in my jaw for 5 years. But after doing this for a week, it is gone!
Thanks you Deadpool 😊
😂
Hi,
I had surgery on my mandible a few years ago; and ever since have gotten a clicking and pain in my jaw on the right side. It drives me nuts sometimes, and I feel like just ripping the whole bone out sometimes! I know that's morbid but my joint pain really gets on my nerve. I'm very glad your video came up and after doing the exercises I immediately feel better. Maybe it's just quietly focusing on it and doing the exercises in a controlled manner that's helping me so far.
I will keep doing this.
and thank you, this means a lot to me!
Surgery can be rough on the jaw joints. Quiet focus and deliberate control will help a lot. Anxiety increases pain!
I also had same surgery and same pain :( are you doing any better?
What I have realised is that when there is pressure on my right ear like wearing glasses or over ear headphones, that pressure causes me pain. so I take them off for a bit to ease the area. heat compresses also help when it gets very bad.
are you wearing any splint?
No, my jaw clicks when I close it, and there's popping in my ear when my jaw clicks.
Finally, find your video. Thank you so much
Omg omg i thought clicking was normal. Thanks!!! I'll try to update if it works
@@Ra1WasHere its still there T-T
Me too have a clicking sound when i only close my mouth when its wide open, but i will try this exercise doc then will see what will going to happen after a month, thank you for this wonderful video!
Any improvement?
Great I think this one for me. No results on step 1, where as here immediate. Great so going to see in a months time. A definite Godsend. Thank you.
31st of July 2022, ill go back here and edit my comment what will happen on my jaws, this is my first day of trying these exercises doc, thank yousomuch!
Hi doc! Love that there is a lot of positive comments here..

Right now when i tried these exercises, i didn't feel much of the clicking..
I'm a little paranoid.
Thank you so much for the information.
No need to be paranoid. It's a process! :-)

Did you win?
Ive done both of the techs and my first day it has gone in the blink of an eye
How many times should we do this every day for a month? You didn't mention that and I think it's important to know.
I didn't knew Ryan Renold was also a doctor
I am 16 and its been a year since I'hv this prblm going to do thi daily for 30 days
Day 1 - Done ( got instant relief ) this actually motivated me and give me a relief from tension
I’m glad I found this. It was my first day where I felt that click on the right back of my jaw. It's an uncomfortable and undesirable sound. I'll try this exercise, I hope it works for me as well🤞🙏.
Thank you for sharing this information and thank you for all the encouraging reviews from viewers with a similar condition.
Any improvement so far?
Yes! I do regular exercises for about 5 days now and I have noticed an improvement of about 75%. I rarely hear my jawbone crackling when I eat, which was so annoying. Thank you for asking!
Omg I'm gonna try this! Why didnt I search this up sooner!
Wow..it's really worked😇
Try this its mind blowing 😊😊 my right jaw click whenever i try open mouth wide it svery irritating i tried many exercise but not get result then i found this video and after just 2 days i was shocked to see result my dentist fee saved
THANK YOU 😊😊😊
leaving a comment here so I get reminded to do this everytime someone pings it
Good explanation but requires full live demonstration for the benefit of viewers and how many times we have to do each exercise
This is so helpful! Thank you so much
Doctor I have question how many times I have to do this exercise?? IN A SINGLE DAY
This is good .cured my problem. Thank you. God bless u
I have had clicking jaw for almost 4 years now and doing this for only 10 minutes made the clicking less noticeable, can’t wait to see the results over time!
Really?
4 years 🙄🙄🙄😲
Update?
Did u cured now
@@Ali-hu2qz Sahi hua Bhai did u find solutions
question, what about if my jaw clicks while closing?
Not finished yet but this might be the one for me
Mine clicks when I do this exercise. How do I open my mouth without the click? I don't understand
me too :(
I don't understand the purpose of this exercise. Isn't this KEEPING the disc displaced? (It never clickes, never reduces and slips back into place over the condyle), and in fact further stretching out the ligaments? Are you basically just giving op on disc reduction, and working to build a pseudodisc?
Thank you so much Dr. Impressive I can actually open my mouth without popping in my jaw
THANK YOU I'm gonna start doing this and I can feel slight differences immediately. Surgery is so expensive and this might be an alternative. I'm gonna tell the dentist about this anyway to see what they think.
my jaw started clicking after a dentist appointment 2 years ago, gonna start doing this, ill update yall
My jaw started clicking when I open wide on my left side only after getting a few punches in the jaw while training some 16 years ago. I don't know if this will work for my case but I'll give it a try...
I can't stop it by clicking while doing this exercise
Thanks my dude, ill try this.
God bless you abundantly....thank you for sharing this🙏😊
Ohmy, thank you huhuhuhuh. Relieved in just 5 minutes huhuh
P.S- I experienced having clicking noise for around 2 years
