Crooked believes that we need a better conversation about politics, culture, and the world around us-one that doesn’t just focus on what’s broken, but what we can do to fix it. At a time when it’s increasingly easy to feel cynical or hopeless, former Obama staffers Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor have created a place where people can have sane conversations that inform, entertain, and inspire action. In 2017 they started Crooked with Pod Save America-a no-bullshit conversation about politics. Since then, we continue to add shows, voices, and opportunities for activism, because it’s up to all of us to do our part to build a better world. That’s it. End of mission.

I miss the feeling of security I get when listening to fmr president Obama. We need an intelligent, caring human to run our country in the future. There’s so much more to be done to repair the damage caused by tfg. President Biden has done a good job, but there’s so much more to do. We have to vote in a Democratic leader in the midterms, and in 2024, or we will lose our country to fascism.

PROBLEM with Obama's narrative is, he knows the Democrats are mostly crooked, and its every man for himself. Sure democracy is good, freedom is good, but only if the people in it especially the leadership are good and are people with integrity! Otherwise what you get is a big bunch of self serving individuals justifying whatever they hope to get from their leadership appointments. And this is also why Republicans despite not as focused on liberty and freedom tend to do better as leaders. Because leadership in the Republican's view is a communal drive and less self centered. You don't have individual LGBTFQs coming out to defend their non-binary positions against a common enemy that denounced non-binary people, and you don't have individual migrant relatives and muslims coming out against a common enemy that denounces their illegal status and propensity to kill others in the name of a purported religion. Freedom and Liberty only works when you have an authority that constantly looks down and snuffs out anyone who exerts their own individual rights that is at the expense of others. And Obama does not possess the required integrity and/or moral uprightness and/or power and/or authority to lead them. Vote Republican because its better to have a circus trainer in the circus tent than just opening all the cages of the tigers and lions, including the alpha lion in the name of Freedom and Liberty, the former you have a person with duty and oversight, the latter you have absolute chaos.

My father was a lifelong Republican who grew up in Texas and came from a traditionally conservative family. He read Obama's book when he was in his late 60's before that first presidential election and voted Democrat for the first time ever. And he voted for Obama again before he passed away. He felt that Obama was more in touch with what really mattered to Americans. I wish more people would approach politics the way he did. I learned a lot from my dad about having an open mind.

@@chansetwo For most voters in America I think political affiliation was secondary to ideology which wasn't a forced set of variables that lined up on either side of a defined line between red or blue. While each party certainly had it's fanatics, it didn't permeate our daily lives the way it seems to now. Politics now is used mostly as a social media tool for "engagement" that's measured in clicks per minute. It's a market that's designed to get users angry, then provide comfort among, what they want you to believe, are like minded individuals. The next thing you know, you think Democrats are mutilating kids in children's hospitals. So there used to be a level of respect I think on the part of politicians, to know that we don't want this in our faces every minute of every day. They knew it wasn't good for us, it wasn't good for them and it wasn't good for America. But desperation does strange things to people who don't have the fortitude or servitude to hold public office.

@@Max_Mustermann I feel this. I’m still registered as an independent as I have been primarily centrist for most of my life and would vote for whichever politician’s policies made the most sense to me, regardless of party. But from the early 2000s on out, it became increasingly harder to find anyone on the right to side with as they started to support candidate after candidate whose platforms purpose seems to be just to keep their base inflamed, angry and misinformed.
My dad is retired military and a lifetime Republican. He sat out the election of 2016 because he knew DJT was a great danger to our country and could not, in good faith, support him. In 2020 he voted for democrat in the presidential race for the first time in his life. He said he felt it important and imperative to our democracy that DJT not have a second term.
This week my dad called me and asked if I remembered to mail in my ballot. He has NEVER done this before. He then added that he just voted democrat down the line saying he felt it was too dangerous to give the right any positions of power at this point in time seeing how so many are actively attempting to undermine the democratic process.
The loudest and most followed people on the right are way beyond the right of the 90s. And if they continue to be supported by their caucus, they will be responsible for driving the Republican Party into the ground

That's because unlike modern democracies created in the 20th century the USA's constitution written by White, rich, land and slave owners and the in order to get the 14th state and others to join the Union, had to compromise with the slave owning southern Democrats of that time and created the INSANE Electoral College. The reason it is insane is because smaller states (in population) already have more of an equal representation as every state regardless of population gets TWO US Senators. With the 60 vote filibuster those states with ow populations having two US Senators is a good enough offset of being fairly represented in the Federal Government. But because our very antiquated Constitution in decades and decades back in time, woman could not vote, nor could blacks until 1965! in the beginning WE THE PEOPLE did not elect our US Senators; the Congress did! Also, in the beginning only male land owners could vote. If the powers that be and the voters in all 50 states continue voting against their own interests with rising cost of living with stagnant wages while the wealthy hold almost the entire wealth of our country of 300+ million people, then the USA is DOOMED to fail. And history shows that nation state lasted forever. The Roman Empire fell after 800 years. Egypt ruled the world before the Romans and that lasted about 2,000 years. The USA will bot even come close to Rome's 800 year reign as the world leader if "we the people" don't vote in their (financial) interests and forget about bigotry and hatred. Looking at the earth from space, it is one big globe, but we humans decide to draw dividing lines around continents. Surely if an advanced extraterrestrial race found the Earth and looked down on the way we humans "run" our planet, assuming they don't consider us humans as FOOD, they'd turn their spaceship around and with other extraterrestrial civilizations place a "blockade" around the Earth and our solar system.
