@@MrMonkey2475 I mean the reason I noticed is because the sentences at that moment clearly don’t connect. It was extremely obvious to me the instant it happened.
@ it’s not that obvious. If he started it off in a different way it would have been but the way he started the sentence off and the fact his sentence was already coming to an end makes it hard to notice
Fun fact the reason why tangela learns jack until lv 24 is due to the fact that the devs never listed moves for mons to have before their lowest possible encounter level so since ta gela gets encountered normally in its mid 20s so it was never programmed with moves at those lower levels since no one would encounter it naturally
Basically Gen 1 in a nutshell. Though for some reason low level Mewtwo has Confusion which it'll never have when you catch it as intended. But to be fair, the devs likely wanted to play things somewhat safe when putting the game together and didn't want to include unnecessary stuff like learnsets that you'd never see with normal gameplay.
"When a badly poisoned Pokémon is affected by Haze, switches out, or when the battle ends, its poison status becomes regular poison." I actually did NOT know this. Neat!
I dont know why I always thought sunny day existed in gen 1, I have vivid memories of growth, sunny day, and solar beam venusaur where growth becomes amnesia where it raises the special stat by 2 stages in the sun. Its so odd i thought this was a thing, as I somehow combined a gen 2 move with an exclusive gen 1 effect of boosing the combined special stat in my mind.
0:24 every single challenge is great! Gulpin with Liquid Ooze ability (absorb and leach life reduces the same amount of HP it was supposed to gain) would be interesting!
0:14 happy to see my "sinnoh with only fire types and moves" idea made the poll list! Wahoo!! 🎉🙌 (I have no idea if I was the first to suggest it, but I'm gonna take credit anyways)
Hey, MDB. I'm a trans girl living arkansas, and I really want to thank you. I've been watching for a few years- since before you started doing Bethesda challenges, and with everything going on in the states now, your videos are really helping to keep me sane. Take care, yall.
Having not played much of Yellow, I realize only now that the Exeggcutor sprite here gets reused in Gold and Crystal. That's nifty. Hopefully Keckleon through Fire Red will be a lighter one. It's been a while since he used one, but it's a really strong Pokemon. Starts with Ghost and Dark moves, so he has a way past Brock, and shouldn't be many rough patches. But we'll see.
Team and move runs must be brutal when you're stuck at Agatha and Blaine because there's nothing you can do other than just try to brute force and level up, it's not like you can learn new moves to try for new tactics
2:17 as i recall you can get tangela when you get surf outside of battle, go to pallet town, surf out and theres an island with grass you can wonder in to catch it
Interesting run. Some ideas for you in the future: Pokemon Platinum with only one Vulpix, fire is rare and strong in gen 4, could work out mostly well. Platinum Eevelution Run - yeah, i guess that's easy. But i'm interested in seeing what tactics you might use Pokemon Crystal as Elite 4 Bruno - no clue how this work out. Could go well, could go bad, but most likely should be fine. Please keep up the quality and fun you have on those runs! I really enjoy them!
Week 11 of requesting a Pokemon Game with only Pokemon Go moves. You can only use moves a Pokemon can use in Pokemon Go (For example, Jellicent can only use Bubble, Hex, Ice Beam, Bubble Beam, Shadow Ball and Surf). For some optional rules I used when I did the challenge in SwSh: - Allow moves a Pokemon is guaranteed to get eventually (Pretty much only applies to Starters which haven't had a community day yet, or Legendaries with signature moves. I personally only used it to grind raids a bit more easily while I was grinding to beat Leon.) -Nuzlocke catching rules (First Pokemon on a route). Prevents you from just choosing the best Pokemon available and makes the challenge a bit more interesting. Could also include Dupes Clause if you choose an older game with more limited wild encounters. - Use at least 1 Fast Move and 1 Charge Move (If possible) (For example, with the Jellicent example above, at least one move slot would need to be taken up by Bubble or Hex, and at least one has to be taken up by Bubble Beam, Shadow Ball, Ice Beam or Surf.) Personally, I recommend the challenge be done in SwSh or SV since they make move deletion for moves you can't use far more convenient, though you could probably do it in any game besides Legends Arceus.
Rival’s Eevoltion is based on if you win or lose the first fight AS WELL AS the rival fight Jrose11 calls rival fight 1A (the fight only available before you beat Brock on route 22) If you beat Rival 1A you could have gotten Flarion as a heads up
Best game pre-Gen 6 to do Pokémon Challenges in you may ask is Pokémon Black2/White2 due to how early you can EV train your Pokémon. I've been meaning to do a Tangela solo run in White 2 for quite some time but keep putting it off for so long due to mental health problems...
Not an avid commentator but I would love to see an egglocke in Gen 4/5. I think we as you're community could give you either some really funny or really great mom's.
I’m currently doing my first full play through challenge run on my game boy. Pokémon leaf green only using normal type Pokémon excluding dual typing. Honestly wasn’t terribly hard until I got to the elite four where Bruno convinced me to put toxic on my Snorlax.
If I rememver correctly u still could get Flareon if u win the 2nd rival fight near the Pokemon League So kect tine u could give it a try & see the outcome
I don’t know if you already did it, but what about beating Pokémon Yellow using Yellow’s team from the manga (so Pikachu, Raticate, Dodrio, Butterfree, Omastar, and Golem)?
Movesets really can make or break a run, huh? It can make a low BST mon usable, or ruin one with better BST. That's why I'm once again advocating for a Platinum Lopunny Solo!
Solo croagunk platinum run 🙏 You could also try runs with previous gen teams like Ruby with gen 1 Koga team (and moves) or Soul Silver with gen 2 Whitney team (and moves). 😁
Can you beat Pokemon Emerald with only one Luvdisc? Emerald will probably be harder than Ruby & Sapphire, since you'll be fighting 2 water specialists in Emerald rather than just 1 in R/S.
On our way through, I took the Helix Fossil. I knew if I didn’t say what I took, you’d all ask. Actually, now that I think about it, everyone asks anyway. Comments are good for the TH-cam algorithm.
6:57 feels like there was an accidental cut here as you interrupted your own commentary
That was a mistake! Sorry about that. Not sure why none of the pre-release viewers caught that or I'd have fixed it
@@MahDryBreadthey missed it because it’s not noticeable 😂
How in tf did u catch that 😂

My suggestion : Pokemon White2 or Black2 with only one Maractus 🌵
🌵
Maractus is adorable. I support this suggestion.
I will forever support Maractus runs
Bro has been suggesting this challenge for months at this point.
I respect the hustle my friend 😎

I mean, this is a pretty common trend among Generation 1 Pokemon. Rhyhorn, Tauros, the Legendaries, etc.
Basically Gen 1 in a nutshell. Though for some reason low level Mewtwo has Confusion which it'll never have when you catch it as intended. @@ShiningJudgment666 I think that's because every Pokémon needs at least 1 move at level 1 for debug reasons
Pokémon Black 2 or White 2 with only 1 Maractus 🌵

Now MDB sees why Scott's Thoughts calls Bruno "The Hiker" and why JRose calls Agatha "The Agatha Lottery".
"When a badly poisoned Pokémon is affected by Haze, switches out, or when the battle ends, its poison status becomes regular poison." I actually did NOT know this. Neat!
Tbh I had a thought that's how it worked, at least between battles badly poison becoming regular poison but never thought to actually try it out 😅
There's also another fun interaction: Toxin's ramping up poison damage will also increase the damage the poisoned Pokémon takes from Leech Seed
thats really cool
classic gen 1 jank
I remember taking advantage of this back in the Gen 1 days

Oh my word grinding a Tangela to level 24 before Brock must have been brutal, I do not envy that part of this run 😅
I feel like they chose Tangela’s level-up moves back in the late 90s specifically to mess with MDB’s Pokémon Challenge videos
I dont know why I always thought sunny day existed in gen 1, I have vivid memories of growth, sunny day, and solar beam venusaur where growth becomes amnesia where it raises the special stat by 2 stages in the sun. @27:00 They gave Lance (in fact all the E4) better moves in Yellow to work around the "Good Ai" type effectiveness, no more garbage status moves.
0:14 happy to see my "sinnoh with only fire types and moves" idea made the poll list! Wahoo!! 🎉🙌
(I have no idea if I was the first to suggest it, but I'm gonna take credit anyways)
It's actually just Sinnoh with only fire types, I've had it on my list for years
@MahDryBread Oh well. I'll still count it as a victory 👍

*Week 164 of asking for Platinum With Only Drifloon*
I will never give up
I know its coming eventually, it's just a matter of tradition at this point
I’m hoping for your sake that the Drifloon run in Platinum will come soon 🙏
The lack of learned moves in gen 1 - gen 3 is mind numbing.
It would be cool to allow items of the gym leader for these types of runs. In this case, he would have 3 super potions.
21:05 to clarify Blaine isn’t easy in Pokémon yellow. He is easy in Pokémon, red and blue.
Team and move runs must be brutal when you're stuck at Agatha and Blaine because there's nothing you can do other than just try to brute force and level up, it's not like you can learn new moves to try for new tactics
At 24:49 when you whited out by gengar, gengar totally become a horror monster smiling without eye. Damn scary.
The reason Vaporeon spammed acid armor was because it saw the type poison being super effective against Vileplume
Before the gameplay even starting, I know this will be brutal for MDB 😂😅
2:17 as i recall you can get tangela when you get surf outside of battle, go to pallet town, surf out and theres an island with grass you can wonder in to catch it
You can only get tangla there in red and blue
That wouldn't actually make Tangela accessible any earlier, since Surf is acquired in the Safari Zone anyway.
Still the most legendary Pokemon Challenge TH-camr on the platform

To think that a run with a team is harder than a run with one single Pokémon ...
Seeing Tangela reminds me of how the announcer in Pokémon Stadium says it, like Tanjelluh 😂
i like the "one cuts it and the other chooses it" factor in the vote thingy. lets eveyone have a say

Hey, what fossil did you take?
Comments are good for the youtube algorithm. I watch your videos on 2x speed so that Agatha fight was...something
Really love seeing the bad luck fights
30:55 grimbo and pumbus are the best blue hedgehog from sonic underground characters. I hope you talk about grimbo and pumbus

I just don't like doing nuzlockes
Just started watching and my immediate thought on a challenge was pokemon red with Blaine's AI 😂
I was wondering what fossel u took in this run?
can you beat pokemon sapphire using only red pokemon? or pokemon ruby using only blue pokemon??
Blaine got tired of you mocking his so in other videos 😂
In that Blaine fight I think you might have been outspeeding the Arcanine at level 60 with weepinbell. I think at that point you go for sleep cheese
you beat the rival fight before brock and lose to the rival fight at the start to get Flareon you didnt have to pick Vaporeon
Day 23 of asking for another Shroomish run in Pokemon Platinum.
Day 69 of asking for Skyrim with no weapons and no spells. Punchcat!

Yellow fire gym💀

Still waiting for the return of the dome fossil for the gag 😂, always holding out hope for it
Which fossil did you take in the run? ........... Also, so happy to see a Yellow run, my first pokemon game :D

Question, MDB - what changes to the team would you make if you were keeping Erika's team, but you could pick the moves?
I'd for sure add body slam so that I have a good normal move. I'd also make sure each Pokemon has sleep powder since it's just so good

Oh I forgot how generation one bind worked lol
ANY POKÉMON GAME BUT YOU CAN ONLY USE INANIMATE OBJECT POKÉMON
Why did you use Stun spore with Weepinbell instead of Sleep powder?
Depends on the fight, but I typically use paralysis instead of sleep when I'm spamming bind because they can wake up during the bind
