Interestingly enough, the Gamepad is really comfortable in the hands. I think that Nintendo pretty much made sure that you could actually hold the thing.

This console has to be the most underrated consoles ever. This console was a great emulator for past games, had great graphics ( since some people only look at graphics first), has some amazing First Party Games, and was really creative. Too bad it sold poorly this console had some more potential but at least the Switch has extremely helped Nintendo through the WiiU's rough years.
If only Nintendo gave it a different name at first, it probably would've sold better......

When I first got the Wii U, I thought that you could take the Wii U Gamepad with you and disconnecting it from the TV, and I thought it was portable, but sadly that wasn't the case. The Switch is basically everything the Wii U SHOULD have been. The Gamepad is just a gimmicky controller. I do love the Wii U though, it's a brilliant console, but this has been one of the worst generations for me as a Nintendo supporter, because everyone cares about PS4 and Xbox One, and no one talks about the Wii U, even though it has just slightly surpassed the Xbox One in sales. The Switch is going to change this though, we will get revenge on Sony and Microsoft for ruining our dreams!

It will never die! We love it! We have four of them and play them frequently. WiiU forever! Also the Switch is expensive as heck. We get three to four or more WiiU games for the price of one switch game. That's just crazy.

Technically they had voice chat in Minecraft using the GamePad. Also Wii U Chat utilized those features well.

It's a shame that the Wii U never really took off. It had plenty of potential with the GamePad, but since it lacked 3rd party support, had lower specs compared to PS4 and Xbox One, and terrible marketing (no one knew if it was a new console or a Wii add on) it failed. Not to say that it sucks (I own one), but it could've done a lot better. It's not a bad console at all, but it just doesn't match up to its competitors. ☹️
Even do I think I would still want one just to try out some of the other games aside from the latest Smash Bros.

It's not really supposed to match up to its competitors, Nintendo always likes to bring a unique and new experience to the TV, Nintendo does things differently when it comes to their hardware and [sometimes] their games.

+Dr Plush Wii mote brought Nintendo back to the top in the 7th gen, and revolutionized gaming. It wasn't just for nerds anymore, grandpa and grandma could get into it, and I know mine did. But looking back on it, I think the gamecube controller is still the best, it feels natural and built for anyone's hands, plus it has all the buttons I need for more complex games. ~ VCSGaming (TheVCubeSolver's alt account)

I don’t know why this this console failed, Nintendo. This was so cool! And my friend still has a Wii U! I sometimes visit him and we play games on it. It has a great library of games, and the best part of it is that you can play Wii games on it. Great job, Nintendo!
It failed because of the horrible advertising, and its name. The advertisements made people think it's just aimed at children, and the name made people confused as to what it actually is. Many people thought it was just an unnecessary add-on controller for the Wii.

This and other wii u commercials are why the wii u did poorly, especially the third party support. The commercials make it look that the Wii u is targeted for a kids and family audience. Nintendo really needed better marketing, i mean that the Switch commercial did a really good job, it looks like something for everyone. I love the Wii U and it's exclusives, but it really needed better marketing in those days.
Besides, a lot people thought that the Wii U was an add on for the Wii, or at least a ''slim'' version of the Wii.
Such an underrated console. The Wii U felt like it was too soon and didn't get the love it should have had. I still use my Wii U, tho mostly for the Virtual Console. Shame.

This was a sad generation for Nintendo, but they still pulled through fairly well and the Wii U itself was alright.
Should have just stuck with the Wii. Update the interface, update wifi connection, customization (multitude of console shell and interface design), clock the GPU, update graphics card, graphics option of 1080p instead of 480i, wireless sensor, add HDMI port, and more Wii store game selections. There, will hold up for another 5 years. I still have my Wii, great system. Don't need all that fancy stuff (controller pad like Wii U or switching platforms like the Switch). Had it for... well... five years lol.
