The attackers were like a pack of wild dogs. They were cowards and bullies.
I love how one of the murderer's family ask the media "Do you have no heart?" When the murderer is being filmed running away like the coward he is with his head covered. No, he's getting what he deserves.
Disgusting people. Lukas was such a beautiful young man, I’m so sorry.
It wasn’t a senseless argument. One guy said something senseless shit and someone called them out on it. There was no argument, just a bully ganging up on someone willing to stand up to him.

at least 15 people were involved in jumping him, w/ on stabbing him. Only 4 were actually convicted in his death. INJUSTICE.
If there's a petition out there to keep them in please let me know. That thing would get thousands of signature right now.
Why in the world would Lukas' father get harassed online (like Lukas' sister says at the end of the video)? This family lost their loved one. And for what? Being a good person? Being anti racist? I hope all those guys that were involved in this murder have a hard life. Also, I hope that Lukas haunts them every night when they lay down and close their eyes.

Lukas' dad is a great dude.
Lucas had more talent, intelligence, guts and heart than all of his attackers combined. It’s such a travesty to lose a one of a kind young man like this. My sincere condolences to his family. They did an awesome job raising him.

Wait, a Muslim, black guy, East Asian, Hispanic/Filipino guy and a French Canadian are calling a bouncer racial slurs???? And a white Canadian kid stuck up for the bouncer and received a beating for this? Wow, the Canadian justice system is messed up.
The video of him hugging his dad at the end was heartbreaking. My sixteen year old son asked me for a hug today and that is something that should never be taken away from any father.

The end when a murderer has his family crowding to “protect” him from merely getting his picture taken all bc he took a big part in taking a young mans life in a brutally painful way and drags the victims family thru all that BS bc somehow he thinks he doesn’t deserve to rot in jail. Couldn’t help but hear one of his family members say to the photographers “do you have a heart?” I’m sorry how in Gods name can that woman dare say something like that. I also Really Appreciate that the focus of these videos is on the victims and their families, who are shown compassion and respect.
The way his dad knew it was him by touching his hand and smelling his hair really shows how close they were. Heartbreaking case

He could be in for life...he just has a chance of parole after 25 years...and in thinking it is unlikely that it will be granted.

This is like straight up one of the most heartbreaking and stomach churning stories I've ever heard. I'm so sorry to all of Lukas' loved ones. Their love for him and how his legacy shines through is the only beautiful thing about this.

This is why there should be NO POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE when someone is accused of first degree or second degree murder. You kill. Your life is over. End of story.

The big mistake here was the bouncers allowing Lukas to leave the club before the Police arrived. That should have never happened. Lukas would be alive today had they kept him there till they arrived.
Real men don't group up and attack 1 man!!! Forget the fact it should have never happened at all, it just shows what cowards they truly are. They will answer to God. God please Bless this family!!!

It is against the law to “pull the plug”. I am an ICU nurse and if I had to guess, the nurse most likely shut off the monitor SCREEN at the patient’s bedside while the one at the nurses station remained on. We try to make the room serene, peaceful, and less clinical; the family can be at one with the dying, and not disturbed by the monitor screen displaying the fading vital signs. A Terrible crime. Very sad. So sorry.

Wow this was chilling. My heart is broken for the parents but especially the Dad having to deal with all the trials and appeals and one day parole hearings.

This is a dad that defended his son to death and beyond. I hope that the justice system all around the world will become better and spare us all the heart pain, all my prayers go out to you.

This is the only episode where I found myself the angriest I've ever been since watching crime beat videos over the last 3 days. For some reason I wanted to scream out loud for help as the details of the mobbing were told like what the heeeeelllllllll is happening someone is being beaten to death I don't even like the blame game but it's just so hard not to in this case. My heart ached for him. How awful it is to die by the hands of some ruthless mofos
This made my eyes bulge tears for his sister's and dads/bro's pain ,and the details of what those cowardly rats put badly let down Lucas through ,peace to the family to hell with the bullies😓

Learn damn nightclubs get security cameras also not just out the front but in the ALLEYWAYS. The Bouncers should have kept them in the nightclub period until these coward thugs had left the premises & gone . he was in so much danger bouncers shoukd have made sure Lucas was safely protected there to blame also to what happened to him

This was one of the saddest stories I’ve ever heard. My deepest condolences to the family of Lukas especially his father who was there from beginning to the end. Shame on the cowards who had to hang up on Lukas and for what because he stood up to a racist idiot and his friends.

The argument that he would have died regardless of the others being there is rubbish. It's a lot easier to get away from one person if you're not being beaten by a group of other people.

I’ve been watching crime beat for quite some time and I must say, Canada’s justice system is weak. And this is being said by someone who lives in South Africa, a country where you find one of top ten’s most dangerous cities in the world. Every time I watch crime beat I complain less about my country’s justice system because wow, Canada’s is a joke.
Those guys are animals.
I couldn't even continue watching this. This world is so unfair and cruel.
Every person involved in this should rot in jail and then hell.
i hope no bully ever win like this ever again. we teach our kids to stand up against people who bully, and then you see a kid that does exactly what he was suppose to do and be killed horribly.

Heart breaking. Why would the bouncers have ushered Lukas out when he's very obviously concerned for his safety. Do they not have protocol to try and guide a patron in that situation? To offer to call law enforcement to ensure their safety pending taxi pickup? Or to escort to a safe transport?
He stood up to something that was wrong and they took him away he was an angel in a world full of ugly people full of hatred may he Rest In Peace ❤️

Of all the episodes of Crime Beat this was the hardest to watch. Lukas was a kind young man who was hunted down by a group of insecure self-centered boys who couldn't handle their egos being bruised. Gervais is a pretty boy who was never told "no" apparently or had any consequences for his actions; given his parents seemed to know that he was in Vietnam avoiding the law. Lukas' family shows such strength; I can't even imagine what they are going through. RIP Lukas

Like it said in the video I think everything just happened so fast. Some times our brain doesn’t process things as fast as we like to... Don’t blame the friends. No one could have predicted this tragedy...

Is really hard to lay blame on the friend that was with him while he was attacked. It all happened really fast. Probably in a matter of seconds. As the reporter said it only took for the best friend to bring the car around. So maybe like a minute. It’s shocking and something that not everyone is prepared to deal with at the moment it happens. So please stop blaming the friend.

This absolutely broke my heart. I have a son of a similar age and I just cant imagine the horror of this. What a beautiful amazing kid he was any parent would be proud to call him their son. RIP Lukas you were very much loved xx
