18:00 We do know the ambitions of Griffith. His dream, to which he sacrificed his comrades, his loved ones and his only friend, was to have a kingdom of his own. Everything that followed after his rebirth(including his rebirth) was to facilitate him acquiring such a kingdom. He took Midland, the place that he previously aspired to become king of, and fashioned from it Falconia by defeating the Emperor Ganishka. Everything else was the reckless disregard of his actions. He hunted down mages, who would potentially oppose his plan in facilitating the merge, he gathered the apostles, in order to be able to fight the monster hordes that Ganishka, an apostle, could produce, and he tried to unite the disparate elements of his army, by appearing as messianic/godly figure to the unwashed masses. He manipulated the pontiff, the nobility, the footsoldiers and ultimately even the enemy(both "seen" in Ganishka and "unseen" in the Skull Knight) to obliterate reality as is, to gather everyone under his banner, his kingdom, in the last human nation on Earth(since everywhere else there were fantastical monsters now abound).
That was Griffith's ambition and it was fulfilled to the layman's eye, but as Guts said, Griffith always strives to go higher and higher. His ambition right now may be to become ruler of the whole world->possibly more. It was said that the fifth God Hand was special and it shows if one gets to look at Griffith's history. From rags to a Messiah king of the last kingdom.

I sincerely don't get this idea of Griffith becoming a "false good" or having a hidden agenda behind his rule, he is literally living his dream, becoming the ruler of both men and devil. I think the core themes of Berserk go beyond that, Guts in his rightful quest for revenge destroys the only hope of the world, because in the real world horrible actions are capable to give birth the most stable peace and beauty, only in fiction bad actions equals bad outcomes, and I think Berserk is that raw with his message.

I'll try to explain in a short amount of time.
Berserk shows the debate between Nihilism and Existentialism. In his writings, he brought up that "God is dead" and what that meant for us. The idea of evil is a creation of man to cope with the fact there is nothing to blame our suffering on.
In Berserk, we see there is very little anybody can do to defy "fate". The fact people have this "evil" to blame their problems on, is what created and empowers the "evil", that controls fate.
The thing to contrast against the "idea if evil" is "will to power". Guts starts a Nihilist, and switches to Existentialism when he hears the fountain speech.
You will have to google Nietsche and any terms you don't understand. Forgive my bad typing! I'm on my phone.

I found berserk during the lowest point of my life. It definitely helped it not get any lower. Berserk and manosphere content. ALMOST started doing meth because I had just divorced. Living in hotels driving 2 hours to job sites and the weekends/free time I was alone in a hotel room. My only single friends from childhood or ones not busy with their families are the ones on drugs still. The women at the hotels were doing it too. Everyone was. I did try it a few times and it ain't for me. Stuff breaks people down and turns them into monsters and I can see why. I just layed in my bed listening to berserk lore for entertainment instead of going out. I don't even like anime or manga. Berserks story is something else. It's so real at times. I related a lot to it.

That doesn't sound like a healthy combination at all. Here's hoping you're doing better. If you can, I really recommend trying to see if your city has a sliding scale clinic. Talking to a psychiatrist and therapist isn't always a fix but it can take the edge off and get you moving in a healthy trajectory again. It is very easy to dismiss the idea but getting help before you hit the wall makes a huge difference. Good luck and please be mindful of the content you consume, it may be exploiting your pain more than healing it.

I am extremely amazed you never mentioned the 4 Khaos gods from Warhammer and the crossovers for the God's Hand members with them. Even Slaan basically shares a name, design, and ideology. 12:12Artemis is mostly associated with the hunt, wilderness, and nature. She was also a virgin goddess, without pairing with anyone in the pantheon(pretty unusual occurence). Demeter would come closer to mind, when thinking of fertility, and Aphrodite would be of love and procreation. Societal norms like marriage and household were depicted through Hera and Hestia respectively, with the former also being the goddess of women in general.

I commented the same thing some secs ago. I am suprised that no one wrote anything before or your comment has more likes. Artemis is know for her ironclad mentality about her virginity and her notorious punishment to the ones that even peeked at her by accident, transforming ppl to wolves, bears etc as punisment. She is the perfect hunter, a skilled archer and a wild force. Persephony or Demeter are associate with fertillity and birth. We could even add Gaia(earth) as the Mother, the giver of birth of monsters, giants, cyclopses, titans, Hecatoncheirs and in general a main de facto Cthonic deity in the Hellenic pantheon.

Yeah if Artimis was real she would probably skin OPs alive or let her pack of dogs slowly rip him to shreds.
She was always very obsessed with her chastity.
She really has nothing to do with fertility quite the opposite, anyone who threatened her chastity was fated to die

Also, the whore of babylon is known as the mother of harlots and abominations (ie. Monsters, fiends, demons). Whore of Babylon = Whore Princess of the Uterine Sea. This lines up with your theory, and was the first thing I thought of

Personally I think it wasn’t necessarily the Idea of Evil that was to revealing, what was to revealing was Griffith’s ignorance of the higher, transcendental divine realities. (It also bears mentioning that the groundwork for dualism wasn’t established yet)
What you so lovingly did for Slan, equating her to Cleopatra, and my personal favourite Echidna, I’d like to do for Casca. Personally I feel Casca initially invokes the Egyptian Goddess Isis, and by extension Golden Age the Egyptian myth of Osiris. (In the interest of time there’s two things I’d like to briefly highlight. For starters this equation is but one of a series, synchronicity or not, a meaning to the word cascade; I’ll dive in the other soon enough. Second, and arguably important, especially for what’s yet to come, this implies her so “son” to be Horus; you know, a god in the form of a falcon, who’s right eye is said to be the sun whilst his left eye is said to be the moon, etc. as there’s just to much to type out just on this topic).
Ultimately I predict her true ‘self’ will invoke the Greek Goddess Athena, I think that’ll be her role to come and why she’s in Falconia as of late. (Noteworthy this implies she served her previous role)
If you haven’t caught on yet, I’m beating around the bush know as wisdom and knowledge. (Yet another neat synchronicity, in metaphorical sense, causality, and the cascading there off, can be compared to the acuasition of wisdom and knowledge)
In other words Sophia, specifically the Gnostic Sophia and thus equating Casca’s fall, coincidentally the other meaning of cascade, to Pistis Sophia.
Longwinded as I am, I’m now short on time and thus have to cut this comment short.
That said, this topic bares further discussion; invoking Pistis Sophia, as I did in my opening paragraph, equates Griffith to the Demiurge.
I dare say he is the Demiurge. Thus, making Guts the human soul, this in turn implies the series ends with Gnosis, which is why I implied Casca (largely) served her current role; it is the combination of both Sophia and John that symbolise the soul’s journey. With Sophia out of the picture for the foreseeable future and, surely coincidence, the sudden reappearance of the aforementioned John Rickert, after he’s spoken to Jesus I might add, both even, their teachings must be truly esoteric, I thinks it’s save to say he’ll continue where she left off for now; in the East no less, who knows, some of those esoteric teachings might be very transcendental once shed of orientalism?
Anyway, good video; made for an interesting ponder during lunch break, hope you read, and perhaps taking inspiration, this as it’s a topic I haven’t really seen discussed elsewhere. Aptly, I think this is why Elden Ring is the most Berserk-esque game yet; they fundamentally draw inspiration from the shift to monotheism, or rather the Christian rejection of polytheism, Gnosticism especially but as Casca’s spiritual predecessors show certainly not exclusively.

I really don't see it with Elden Ring. Elden Ring reminds me of an extremely high fantasy world like a dark fantasy George RR Martin version of The Silmarillion. Berserk only recently became a world like that with the merging of the planes. I see the influence in the weapons and the creatures but the structure of the world has never particularly been berserk like.

Amongst the 4 elements , void is the 5th that contains the others . If the elementals are the agents of the idea of good . Evil is the exploitation of good . The collective evil of human consciousness inspired the idea of evil to become powerful . The enslavement and suppression of others is the essence of evil . Souls who committed evil end up in the vortex where they suffer the idea of evil which they themselves contributed to and in the process feed it’s power . It is these souls that fuels the power of the idea of evil and the apostles .As evil is the exploitation of the good either the first 4 angels are elementals who were summoned against evil by the one using them : void but then he himself retained the identity of the void making his own 4 angels in contrast to the 4 angels of good . Also the idea of good doesn’t have a void to hold the elementals and lets the individuals be the voids to hold them .
Or these 4 angels are basically only the positions of the god hand personified and exerted by the idea of evil before the thousand year period of actual individuals acquired to align themselves with these positions , which is why instead of eclipse their is a vortex from where these positions emerge at this time purely created through voids power , or serve to instruct void in guiding others to these position so to fill the ranks of god hand .
Or another theory is that multiple such progressions of god hands habe occurred and in the end they get absorbed into the vortex where in they control or exploit the energy of the respective souls they lead to hell and channelise this to service of the idea of evil , so there may be many god hands but they are in vortex and not in external decision making .
Either way this isn’t eternally a cycle since they were waiting to acquire enough power to allow for the blessed king of longing that is Griffith

    • @buttonsandbrews5497

My understanding is chaos gods are born from the pains and hate of the world so yes you could see it that way. I also heard that chaos gods are infinite but seems the ide of evil is born from humans feelings and pain. Not he came before humans. I see there being some similarities.

@@disturbeddemon828 listen, I've been reading this manga over and over again since the mid 90s. I was the first one to figure out that gaiseric was skull knight ever since the panel of him came out in while they were walking to get griffith in the tower. Also I called out that Griffith is the moonlight child because there was a silhouette of Zodd in a hill. There is only one egg of the king and that is for one to be reborn to be conqueror. its every 1000 years, all others are every 250 years or so area which means if you multiply it by four you will have 1000 years and in addition on the 1000th year you will have the fifth godhand.

How are you going to censor things labeling as family friendly while talking about Berserk?

  • @InTheMindOfDavid
    @InTheMindOfDavid 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Berserk is the perfect example of why some creators should have one story shouldn’t be told over 30 years. There too high a chance of the creator never being able to conclude their story. As each year passes it becomes more and more likely something may happen that prevents their story from ever being finished due to failing health, death, destitution, lack of ideas, but the main one being death.
From what I’m aware of, it seems that even to this day-nearly 30 years after their introduction to the Berserk story, fans still know next to nothing about what the God Hand actually are, what they want, WHO they are, or where things in the story maybe heading. The creator used them so sparingly, and intentionally withheld so much information about them that it’s insanely scarce, and what information there is about them minimal that it’d be nearly impossible for fans to ever accurately formulate an educated theory as to where the creator was taking the story, and how it could have ended.
We know absolutely nothing about Void in particular, yet he’s so clearly central to not just the plot going forward into the future but also the backstory to several characters, and the events that kicked the this whole story into motion. It’s so extremely unfortunate because the creator of Berserk was clearly setting up something of biblical proportions, no pun intended, and it could be likely we’ll never know where it was actually going or that whoever takes up the challenge of trying to finish Berserk may not be able to realize the creator’s vision for Berserk’s ending that would be up to par with what the creator would have done if still alive.
Another good example of why taking this long to finish a single story isn’t the best idea is George R.R. Martin. It’s been what over a decade since he release A Dance With Dragons? And he’s like in his 70’s! And as we saw with Game of Thrones season 8, other writers most likely aren’t anywhere near up to the task of finishing A Song of Ice and Fire of R.R. Martin does pass before releasing Winds of Winter. What’s worse is he’s writing other books set within the Game of Thrones world but for some damn reason just won’t finish Winds of Winter.
As amazing as great stories spanning multiple decades to create can be, it can wind up really hurting the series in the long run if it takes too long for them to finish. And that does a real disservice to the fans, especially fans that have stuck by the series since its conception.
