  • This is a quick tutorial for beginners using Adobe Illustrator. Quickly create die cuts using a few simple commands. This helps you prepare artwork for printing or other production. Perfect for stickers or vinyl decals. I use the Mighty Ducks Logo. You can use whatever you want. But below is a link to the Mighty Ducks logo. You will get sued for sure if you print and sell stuff with that logo, though. So don't do that. This is mostly to practice, cause youre a beginner in Adobe Illustrator. Not an art thief. #DieCuts #PrintDesign #IllustratorTutorial

    Dude thanks. I just needed to know how to make an exact outline of a object so I can make a backer board for laser cut wall art. This video will do the trick. You explained in 3 minutes what others do in 20 minutes without any confusion.

    Don't you still need to make a stroke outline of the white border for the actual cutline?

    How to print and cut on Roland I tried all this when I print the roland started to cut it from different angle?

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Nadia, I'm not sure what you mean. Can you rephrase your question for me? I'm not sure what a roland is.

    • @mikeferretti7422
      @mikeferretti7422 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CoolGuyDesigns roland is a wide format print and cut printer. Her issue is prob with her settings in her RIP software not in the design on the artwork.

    hi, in pathfinder tool, I cant find unite. can I know the reason why ?

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Angie. Unite should be the first option you see when you have the pathfinder panel open. Hope this helps, but happy to keep this thread going if it's still not working.

    Keep getting issue: The filter produced no results. Please select two overlapping paths. I even tried with a different logo

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This means you are selecting shapes that either don't overlap or they have already been uniting. Make sure no art is locked and that you are selecting two shapes that actually overlap each other. Hope this helps.

    • @TenvoZA
      @TenvoZA 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CoolGuyDesigns I'm just using my png logo file, does it have to be some kind of special file?

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TenvoZA Ahh. I see now. Pathfinder does not work with PNG files. What you'll need to do is live trace the artwork, so you have vector paths. Vector paths are what need to overlap in order to unite. In this tutorial, I use an .EPS file, which is vector art. Sorry for the confusion on that, but if you live trace your image, you should be able to unite from there.

    Thank a lot buy How to save files for print ready

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To save print ready files, make sure you are on the CMYK color mode. And then you can export a PDF. That should be all you need.

  • @yonniyon3043
    @yonniyon3043 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    When I clicked unite it said “THE FILTER PRODUCED NO RESULTS. PLEASE SELECT OVERLAPPING PATHS”

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That means you selected shapes that aren't overlapping each other. So, there's nothing to unite. Make sure nothing is locked and you're selecting all of the shapes. Hope this helps.

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could you explain more of what you mean? We make a die cut line when we create the white shape that goes behind the artwork. But maybe you are talking about something else. Let me know.

      I was waiting my self see how He puts a Cut line on it

    • @CoolGuyDesigns
      @CoolGuyDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure what you mean by cut line. What we are doing in this tutorial is creating artwork that has a die cut shape on the outside. It's less about the production side and more about the design side. But happy to answer anything I was unclear about. Thanks for watching.

    • @mikeferretti7422
      @mikeferretti7422 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just take the white layer and create a 3rd layer, and instead of fill change to outline and change color to magenta and thats how we create and submit cut die lines. The print image and white background for border gets grouped and on one layer then the magenta cut line is on its own layer so it can be turned on and off easily for the printer.
