I am biabitic, i have tried white rice at home and south indian festive food with variety of veggies minimum three. Only eating rice raises the glucose level at home, after having festive food with white rice glucose level will be normal So we need to be wise when having white Rice

Rice contain arsenic from ground. In few countries they advise to limit the amount of rice because of arsenic. Its better to throw the cooking water from rice after it's cooked.
Parboiling has been done traditionally in many areas of India. In my ancestral area of South Canara it has been done for ages. Parboiling also fixes the the nutients into the endosperm. So it is much healthier.
I think white rice is not so bad until you eat with high fiber food like dal, rajma , chhole and many more... As we know it's complete food and some of people can't tolerate brown rice because of it has high arsenic element and some people can't digest this much can lead to digestive issue bloating and all... White rice is lighter to digest those who have sensitive digestion. It just about portion contro over foods
Yeah brownrice can have bloating issues ,but we have various varieties of rice which are available in market now (like keral matta rice, black rice , basmati brown rice,etc..), you can try them by reducing white rice to alternative days ,then also it will be a gamechanger for health

True...but ours is parboiled one...have u noticed the difference...if u eat local rice with sambhar and gun powder, ur will feel to be full for more hours compared to if u eat that with the basmati rice So clearly parboiled our common rice has more fibre compared to these rice... Also most of us can't afford these india gate, dawat etc etc. We buy the local brand ones They are only for biryani's special occasions for home 🤣🤣

In Odisha Par boiled rice is very common and eaten on a regular basis. I always feel less bloated and very comfortable. If you have digestive issues I feel it is the best option because it is much easy to digest. It is also less in calories.

I am always cooking with brown or red rice . I have a habit of putting it to soak every night with mung Dahl then when I go to cook it the next day, discard the water, wash again and cook with about double amount of water in open vessel. I add masala and veg and all water gets absorbed . Delicious nutritious kitcheree everyday . And actually it takes only about 25 min to cook well. Just delicious ❤

I have tested Ghantasala low GI rice certified by Acharya NGRanga agricultural university , and I have checked on muself after eating it it is also called Telangana sona masuri, and compared with sugar watchers which was not low GI as claimed. But Ghantasala brand low GI rice certified by NGRAU was definetly low GI rice
I don't know why but the red rice we eat is less costly (40/kg) We use red rice (available mostly in malnad part of Karnataka like sringeri etc) traditionally and I like it so much. Yes Red rice sticks with each other and gives special taste to the food which no rice can provide. Additionally the rice water leftover while washing it is healthy for our body and can be used for hair as hair conditioner and for watering plants.
if you are too health concious and even willing to avoid normal white rice and want to go for not so apetizing brown rice and other stuff, you might as well replace rice with barley.

Hi loved ur content. I just need to ask that after soaking the brown rice for 4-6 hours, do we discard that water or use it in open vessel cooking? Also in open vessel cooking do u strain out the remaining water after the rice gets cooked? Please answer!!!!
I am always cooking with brown or red rice . I have a habit of putting it to soak every night with mung Dahl then when I go to cook it the next day, discard the water, wash again and cook with about double amount of water in open vessel. I add masala and veg and all water gets absorbed . Delicious nutritious kitcheree everyday . And actually it takes only about 25 min to cook well. Just delicious ❤
We used to remove starch during the cooking of rice. That could have made it healthier.

I have tested Ghantasala low GI rice certified by Acharya NGRanga agricultural university , and I have checked on muself after eating it it is also called Telangana sona masuri, and compared with sugar watchers which was not low GI as claimed. But Ghantasala brand low GI rice certified by NGRAU was definetly low GI rice

We use red rice (available mostly in malnad part of Karnataka like sringeri etc) traditionally and I like it so much.
Yes Red rice sticks with each other and gives special taste to the food which no rice can provide.
Additionally the rice water leftover while washing it is healthy for our body and can be used for hair as hair conditioner and for watering plants.

if you are too health concious and even willing to avoid normal white rice and want to go for not so apetizing brown rice and other stuff, you might as well replace rice with barley.
