Hi I love u Dan your so cool not just because u cut open a ton of stuff but I love that u educate us it’s so cool how u vlog this crazy stuff i can think of a ton more stuff but I don’t want to ramble on
Hey Dan thank you so much for visiting my homeland. Im currently in Massachusetts. I had to go there in October for my dad's funeral and it was a nightmare :/ The great thing about Puerto Rico is that it might get knockdown but we NEVER stay down! God Bless you Dan! Keep up the great work!
My dad is working down there on the power lines and it is very surprising what there risking to give the island power. There hanging from helicopters 200 feet above ground and hanging on cliffs working on the lines. ❤️🙏
Big Mouth Strikes Again umm what are you talking about? There is people down there that live in the mountains and they haven’t had power for 60 plus years. They appreciate what those men are doing down there.
Big Mouth Strikes Again because he obviously isn’t great full. The people of Puerto Rico are very great full. Trust me. They are really happy and thankful that the us is sending all these lineman down there. And that the lineman are risking their lives for them. I don’t know if you have heard but the government down there is very corrupt.
It is crazy how much devastation is in Puerto Rico. We were just there in march and they had just barely got power in San Juan. It is awesome that people like Elon Musk are helping out.
As someone who grew up in Ponce until i was 20 and then left because of joining the Navy. It really made me happy seeing someone from the mainland USA coming to PR and ACTUALLY saying youre in American soil. Thank you for what youve done. Thank you.
I've lived in Puerto Rico my whole life. Hurricane Maria was easily one of the biggest challenges we've ever faced. I was out of power for 4 months and didn't have water services or access to the internet for 6 months. A lot of people lost everything. Needless to say, it was a horrible experience.
Had the pleasure of turning on 10,000 people lights while I was there October through February. Most humbling experience of my life. Will never forget Puerto Rico and can’t wait to go back.
Hi, I am from Lajas, Puerto Rico and a big fan of your channel. Thanks for visiting and helping us and letting others know the island’s reality. God bless you and continue doing great videos.
Thanks for showing the actual damage in Puerto Rico - so much destruction and so many types of destruction. Much of this was unfortunately not shown by large TV networks. I hope these people can rebuild.
Thanks for showing this. It highlights how important it is to continue development on ways to make things like solar and wind more robust. As an industrial designer, I can imagine many ways off the top of my head to harden solar farms while at the same time making them more functional as well as designs for wind turbines that would not only allow for easier servicing but would also allow them to retract the head down the structure in preparation for extreme weather conditions. All this is do-able. We just have to make sure that we start to do more forward thinking as we design our solutions moving forward.
Thank you for making this video. I have family in Puerto Rico, and it's important to me to know that so many other people care about the people and power on this island. ❤
This is actually fantastic. I haven't seen anyone really cover Puerto Rico from this angle before. The destruction is so hard to imagine. It reminds me a bit New Orleans was after Katrina in 2005. There are still quite a few parts of New Orleans that, to this day, still haven't come back. The damage is still very present, 13 years later. It's heartbreaking.
This is really like New Orleans struggling after Hurricane Katrina but now it's Puerto Rico struggling after Hurricane Maria my prayers are purteo Rico
I think this was interesting seeing the devastation. One thing I didn't realize until a couple of months ago is that there are major pharmaceutical plants in Puerto Rico which are affecting patient care even here in Utah as there are major shortages even seven months later. I saw a president of a major energy company talk about "wave energy" where they have these bouys on coastal regions they are able to generate power day and night and are extremely reliable. He said that if he had 10 miles of the California coast he could provide ALL the energy for California. I think wave energy has got to be one of the most sustainable energy forms.
Wave energy isn't that practical of a solution, the sea is really unkind to machines. There is no magic solution to keep the barnacles, salt and sand from causing problems. Lots of people have tried, the equipment either got ruined in a storm, or damaged by long exposure to sun, sand and sea. There is a trial tidal power setup in Orkney Scotland, that is more like a traditional hydro electric setup. It works of currents not waves, so far less likely to get smashed to pieces in the next storm. th-cam.com/video/YEQQl-qpkCc/w-d-xo.html
thanks for visiting puerto rico I have lived here my whole life and it feels really good to know that people like you know about this place so thank you. I hope I get to meet you
Hi Dan I am from Aguadilla Puerto rico and that is nothing compared from when the hurricane past. Mountains collapsed ,almost all the trees fell, and the center of the island has still no light
I live in Puerto Rico an I live al that moment when hurricane Maria hit us and that was a bad time for all of the people of Puerto Rico and I love that you come here to see what happen thank you to visit us
This is so sad. I just want to pray for everone who had to go through this.If I was able to I would love to help people get all the debri and electrical problems fixed and cleaned up. All prayers for Puerto Rico.
Nice video, I spent the winter in south Texas helping rebuild after Harvey. These storms cause some amazing damage. I will post some video's on my channel about this too. Keep it up
Ok so i just stumbled upon this video even tho i am not subscribed to this channel i am to your other channels i am born in the United States were i lived until age 7 my mom passed around 2009 and the remnants of my family decided to move to Puerto Rico were i lived for about 8 years now and its been quite the experience. But by far my worst experience was hurricane Maria I live in a place were it didnt affect too much but i was still pretty bad 3 months no water and 2 weeks after the water got back my areas electricity was restored so yah im pretty grateful that it wasn't too bad were i live but there are still many places that dont have electricity or water and i appreciate you going over the damage done and sorta explaining it, hopefully this will get help to some of the places who still need help.
Thank you for showing what's going on in our Island... Yes Puerto Rico is part of North America and it is hard to see the devastation...after 7 months already. God bless you ...great job.
It makes me sad that people fail to realize that the reason the island is still a mess has nothing to do with politics, corruption, or greed. The coordination and the logistics alone are mind blowing. In addition the need to provide people with food medication shelter and water through humanitarian shipments take priority over the shipments of heavy equipment and the materials required to repair and rebuild the infrastructure. Every worker brought to the island has to be taken care of and provided for further exasperating the supply issues. People fail to realize these facts.
You could scoop up the broken solar panels by the road and solder the pieces into a functional panel. It would take a lot of labour as you need to test each piece, match them, decide what to put in parallel or serial and try to maximize the surface area of the plywood panel you would glue them to but it would be an almost free solar panel. It's basically an off gridder or prepper bonanza.
This is a US colony. You are absolutely right. It's a corruption playground for the US. We get the shortest straw due to such corruption of the republicans and the government here.
I just subscribed and rang the bell!!!! LOVE YOUR VIDS!!!!! Ps Dan you are a true savage Edit Thank you so much for giving me a heart!!!!!! You made my day!
Dan you make my day when you post I love your vids thanks for the vids. I live in Florida Tampa it was scary. We have to leave on my birthday and pack up your house it was horrible and scary but you’re vids helped me go through that.love vids
the power company is turning off solar farms and wind parks in favor of their oil burning generators, they call it curtailing but basically denying the rebuild of solar farms.
I really like that they are trying to make solar panels that would survive another big weather event. Or at least have a chance. The ones that are at ground level and bolted down is a great idea. Maybe some underground battery packs could work to..
It's almost as if solar panels and windmills that are exposed to the elements on an island that gets hit with hurricanes and relying on them for a huge chunk of your power is a really really bad idea
Hey man, love how you did a video of Puerto Rico. I currently live here and lived thru the hurricane. solar energy is a big deal in Puerto Rico. since the grid fails all the time, solar systems are common. Though this amazing country could also use a sprinkle on top of Tesla cars, its almost impossible to buy one here because of the transportation tax and Tesla's don't have warranty s or charging stations in Puerto Rico. Plus, entry tax into the Island. Trust me, if we dint have those factors, at least 30% to 50% of the population would have Tesla's and eventually become supper famous here. If you ever want to talk about solar energy or PR, hit me up man.
Not surprising that reconstruction is slow. Parts of New Orleans are still just like PR, and that doesn't have the transportation problems of getting parts and supplies to a distant island with no land connection to the mainland US.
Hi dan you should have gone to the center of Puerto Rico. I own a national park in utuado Puerto Rico called “parque ceremonial indígena de caguana” it’s a really educational park about Puerto Rico’s and the Spanish’s past.
The park is not owned by the government, my great grandfather was the one who discovered everything in that park in his land that he owns. Just so you know
1)NO! We don't want that crap off of the North Carolina coast. 2)Thanks for the great informative video! 3)Keep Praying for the people of Puerto Rico 4)Let's hope this is a learning experience that we can turn into a positive. Now to be honest When Coastal Carolina gets hit, it generally takes about 2 months for every neighborhood to get power restored. Hurricane Irma was on my birthday.we had to pack up my house with my pets hoping my family would not die. And driving to my ants. We could of lost my house and our life and car. And it was on my birthday. You vids help go throw that and forget ever thing
Yes it is American but it is an isolated island and that is one very big obstacle to overcome. I was born in Oklahoma and the tornado damage can take a very long time to repair and or cleanup. Its also 1000s of times easier to get support into places that are in the states. Not saying Puerto Rico does not need our help. Just saying yes it's America, yes it shouldn't be this way, but it's an isolated island and it will require a lot more effort .

Uncle Sam has kept me away from home Puerto Rico, “Duty Calls”, many of us are grateful to people as yourself for posting this awesome video 👍🏼🙏🏼🇺🇸🇵🇷
Your a nice TH-camr you care a lot about other countries and other people, keep up the good content 😁👍
Puerto Rico is a US territory . Not a country.
You know what I mean
Awseome video Dan!!!!! Left a big like and you guys are my inspiration! Keep up the amazing work.
This is my favorite video you’ve ever made
Joseph Sautter same
I’m honestly glad you are in my homework or island I should say god bless to all my fellow Puerto Rican’s
The problem is thAt the power company are bein run by the Goverment. While the people really wants them to be privetly owned.
We have privately owned power companies here in Australia; Bad service and high prices.
You guys care about the earth so much thank you for showing us the world and maybe some people might help 👍🏻 job

By the way, I really enjoyed the content. You have a very good journalistic style about you. I'd like to see more things like this.
Pray for PR. Blessings to my country(not really a country). So lucky to have family that have survived and are doing well.
Thanks for visiting Puerto Rico 🙏
It's about diversity in power generation and redundancy. It's a lesson every nation and state needs to learn from.
After watching this video, I feel compelled to get a Tesla Power Wall for my house in Texas!! Great video!! 👍
Thank you for showing what's going on in our Island...
Yes Puerto Rico is part of North America and it is hard to see the devastation...after 7 months already. God bless you ...great job.
Wow thanks. I am born and raise in PR move to North Carolina to join the service and is great from you to make this video. Gracias

Corruption playground
Mr Reign if you are talking about the government of Puerto Rico yes
Yes, but the same happends in US.
yes the government
the mayor is a criminal should be locked up..

America should be embarrassed at their less than mediocre efforts in rebuilding in PR. I thank you for shedding a bit more light on the situation.
You Guys Are Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those wind mills were probably useless

It seems crazy to say you own a national park. By definition, it would be owned nationally for the people.
Thats funny you own a National Park fishy
The park is not owned by the government, my great grandfather was the one who discovered everything in that park in his land that he owns. Just so you know
It's so amazing to hear people saying that things could be built to withstand 200mph winds. SMH
Hey what’s up I live in pr and it was nice to see you here making this video. Thank you for that. Are you still here in pr??
This is the most interesting video I have watched on TH-cam
Hi I’m not from America and I had never been to Puerto Rico before so thanks for educating me P.S. I’m from Thailand
Dan: this is crazy but, this is america
Childish Gambino: You wot m8
If this were cuba, the locals would have found a way to repair or reuse the broken turbines and solar panels.
1)NO! We don't want that crap off of the North Carolina coast.

Thanks for coming to PR, I appreciate it a lot
That termite hill was huge. It is crazy how big it got.
the spiders are usually called field spiders. hands down the most docile spider ive ever seen. they wont bite unless you try to crush them.
After Katina it took over 3 years to get the area back together. Still working to this day. If you go to new Orleans still Dr damage.
I'm not a big fan of spiders ether. I'd be gone that instant. Lol.
Love you guys .
Hurricane Irma was on my birthday.we had to pack up my house with my pets hoping my family would not die. And driving to my ants. We could of lost my house and our life and car. And it was on my birthday. You vids help go throw that and forget ever thing
Hi Dan I’m glad you got to see everything I actually live there and experienced the hurricane pass but we’re all good not at least
It’s sad to see these people suffer Hurricane Maria just destroyed everything in her patch hopefully this hurricane season isn’t as bad
Do a draw my life about the Philippines and all that
I was watching this and our power went off from Nassau in the Bahamas 🇧🇸
Be Safe.
Really big damage still there. Hopefully they´re successfull with the re-building their own country and especially the power.
Yes it is American but it is an isolated island and that is one very big obstacle to overcome. I was born in Oklahoma and the tornado damage can take a very long time to repair and or cleanup. im from puerto rico and when i was there before the hurricae everything was so so awesome but my grandma still has no power
The power is not 100% recovered after 7 months
GIO_360_0 exactly
Not even close. Their main power plant is not up and running. Critical parts have to be manufactured, then shipped on container ships. Initial estimates were 6-9 months to get that done. In the mean time, instead of setting up generators, Elon Musk has shown up with solar panels (he apparently didn't see the damage done to the last solar farm they had), so at least a tiny fraction of the island will have power when it's not overcast, raining, or night time. Who's picking up the tab for all of that power supply that's so efficient, they're still having blackouts?
Hi whats inside you are one of my fav youtuber and i hope we can get ove 1 mill subbs
Wind mill V hurricane level wind. Hurricane wind wins.
You know what i Think ??? Hurricane season is only a month away and they're still rebuilding the structures like it was before. What could possibly go wrong ??
Power lines don't just carry wires! They also carry cables to hold themselves up.
Thanks
I’m a puertoriquan and it was devastating to see my island in crumbles
i really miss that place because that place was my childhood
I you miss it so much go back and help clean up.
I lived there for 2 years then moved I feel u
Alot of the damaged solar panels are still usuable. I have spider cracks in mine and they still generate full output.
Awesome video keep up that hard work like me in basketball
