So many 'goosebumps' moments in this episode: Ymir sitting in the desert looking at the paths, Eren saying his titan's name (and the show's name), and of course the end when Eren K. says "Whose memories are those?". Really sucked hearing about the 13 years thing, so I can imagine Mikasa's feels. Too bad all of these scenes are eclipsed by Sasha enjoying an apple in bed 😍

in the manga, the reason why Mikasa seems like she lost weight was because she was giving her food to eren, that’s why he assumed they had plenty to eat.

I don't know about that, i really doubt Eren would accept Mikasa giving him her food. And i don't see a way she would trick him into thinking it was his or something. Losing her appetite because she found out she's gonna lose Eren and Armin, basically the two people she cares about the most in the world makes way more sense.

King fritz(the first king of the walls) using the power of the founding titan is the one who erected the 3 walls in the island of paradis 100 years ago not Ymir. Ymir died like 2000 years ago. King fritz is also the one who vowed to renounced war and passed it on to the future generations of the royal family within the walls that's why they never did anything about the pure titans roaming outside the walls

So just as a note, we've seen titan shifters see memories of the past users. We saw it with Eren and his father obviously. We saw it with Armin and Bertoltdtdtdtd (sorta). And we see it with the Founding Titan and the vow to renounce war.
However this is the first instance that we see a previous user speak about something that they should seemingly have no knowledge about. Mikasa and Armin had not even been conceived yet since Eren and the crew are all around the same age. Just something for you guys to take note of!
I really recommend one of you or both get a notebook cause after this it's gonna start getting tough to keep track of everything.

@@cjjackson2423 "Shingeki no Kyojin" comes from japanese and could be "Attack on Titan" (the name of the show) or "Attack Titan" (the name of Eren's Titan). Isayama was clever because he knew that people will assume that it has to be 'Attack On Titan' because of the story, then we realized that in fact it's 'Attack Titan'.

"To save Mikasa, Armin and everyone else you must see it through" that's quite the important line right there... Also memories transcending time is something that has been teased before in the show. One of the very first scenes in S1 episode 1 was Eren having this dream that showed some stuff that hadn't happened yet and when was woken up by Mikasa he was crying but didn't know why.
But he didn't had any Titan powers then, then how was he able to have those memories??

Future Eren can send back memories. Attack Titan can send memories through time. Child Eren was going to be the Attack Titan in the future.

About what Kruger said at the end, in one of Eren's dreams in season 1 we saw Grisha saying the same thing to Eren when he was injecting him "If you want to save Mikasa, Armin and the others.."
At this point of the story with the reveal of the name of Eren's titan was when I realized this isn't the story of "Attacking the Titans", but rather the story of "The Attack Titan"
Also before it was the name was revealed as the Attack Titan, many fans just called it Eren's Titan or my personal favorite the Berserker Titan
The owl said “Shingeki no Kyojin” which is the Japanese title of Attack on Titan. It directly translates to The Attack Titan the same way Shiso no Kyojin translates to The Founding Titan
It should be named the show as "The Attack Titan"

Surprised none of the top comments are mentioning but Kruger/Grisha/Eren's titan "the Attack Titan" in Japanese is "Shingeki no Kyojin" which is the name of the series. Attack on Titan isn't an accurate translation of the name for the series but was a choice made just because they thought it sounded better in English. So learning the name of Eren's titan is the title drop for the series.
Season 1, Episode 9 - When Eren turns into a Titan to protect Mikasa and Armin, he recalls his dad saying the same words Eren Kruger said. “To save Mikasa, Armin and everyone else…”
The reason Grisha didn't get to his mission (of acquiring the founding titan) right away was because he didn't know who had the founding titan. The king was a fake and the real royals were managing from the side as an influential noble family (I assume they were the Fritz but assumed the name of Reiss).
This particular season of AoT really had some bangers. Including some of the most action packed scenes in any anime, and then you get these that are basically exposition that give you chills haha. Such an awesome story.
That's what we get when the writer do the exposition right.
The Eldians only had one ( the founding ) at that point in time,
The Marlyan government assumed the Eldians had 2 because they didn't have ( the attack titan ) which was Kruger's titan. Kruger had that titan without anyone knowing it.
It’s crazy to think that grisha not leaving the gates would’ve changed the entire story. If he didn’t leave then grisha and Faye would’ve lived a weird miserable life grisha wouldn’t have been a restorations since Faye lived, Dina would’ve found someone else, eren wouldn’t be born to stop Annie Reiner and Bert, mikasa would’ve been sold to child traffickers, armin wouldn’t Have become a scout and would’ve became someone that ventured to the outside world(Like his parents), Jean would’ve became a MP (probably dies) Sasha and Connie would’ve died (probably) without Eren a lot (more) people would’ve died
At this point in the series, you have seen 8 of the 9 Titans. At the start of the series, the 7 Titans that Marley controls are the Armored, Colossal, Female, Jaw (Reiner's friend and later Ymir), Beast, Cart (the duck titan shown in the Battle of Shinganshina), and another that has not been seen or mentioned yet. The Founding Titan was taken to the walls with the royal familly. The Attack Titan is the 9th titan that has remained independent throughout the wars and appears here with Kruger.

@@MRST0R I’m not spoiling anything. They’re several episodes ahead of this in their watching to the point where I could even say the name of the 9th Titan without fear of spoiling anything.
@@MRST0R and besides the Titan names themselves are not spoilers since they’re basically just descriptions of what the Titan ability is, which in both cases we have seen. If I were to go deeper into allegiances, backstory, motivations, identity, etc then we’d be in spoiler territory. I’m also pretty sure that jaw Titan was even a fan term well before this point in the manga anyway or may have been named in the bios of one of the manga volumes. Hell the title of the show itself spoils the name of Eren’s Titan before we’re even aware that humans can transform into Titans. There’s really just no discernible information that can be pulled from just knowing they’re the Jaw and Cart Titans.

"Shingeki no kyojin" is also the title of the series and that's pretty wild because it's "the attack titan " not attack on Titan
Yes. When this manga became a hot topic in Japan, many people laughed that they made a mistake in the grammar of the title. Some linguists quoted ancient grammar and claimed it was grammatically correct. From now on, it's a stupid discussion. Everything was Isayama's plot.

I don't think they realized why the name of it translated into Japanese is so mind-blowing.
In fact, most English speaking sub watchers probably had no idea that Shingeki no Kyojin is *literally* the original name of the Anime.
For any of those watching for the first time, this reveal changes the meaning of the title in Japanese.

@@DJS12345678 Tons of people miss it, probably because they didn't really start watching when the show first aired.
When season 1 came out, the name was actually highly discussed. Not a native English speaker, but even I can tell you that the name "Attack ON Titan" is weird as fuck, unless they're riding titans into battle.
So back then we looked into it and found other interpretations, like "advance" instead of attack, so I henceforth believed it to mean "advancing on titans" like they're pushing ahead in the war against the titans. That or it meant "advancing titans", like the titans that march on the walls.
So when they namedrop the show like that, so many years after those original speculations, it's almost as big of a mindfuck as "whose memories are those".
It took years, but the name of the show finally and truly made sense. I don't think I've ever reacted as much to a title drop as this. Not even to mention the myriad of "press on/keep going/move forward" moments that you start to remember from all throughout the show. Literally the entire fucking show is about moving forward.
I think people forget that Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are only 15. They joined the scouts as soon as they were old enough. Their characters are written with far more maturity than most at 15 though not unrealistic given the circumstances that forced them to grow up.

Remember when Grisha told Eren that he had to see this through if he wanted to avenge his mother and save Mikasa and Armin and the others? When he injected Eren? He's repeating what Kruger told him. 👀
Just to clear up some confusion with who had which titans during the time in which this episode took place. Eldians Had only the Founding Titan (The Reiss Family), and The Attack Titan (Kruger, then to Grisha). the seven that Marley had control over during the great titan war was the armored, the colossal, the female, the jaw, the cart, and the beast making that 6. The 7th one for you guys is still a spoiler so I won't say. Now in current time after the fights in the last few episodes, Marley only has 5 now, and Eldia has 4 titans, but only 3 that they can use because Annie is the 4th and is in a crystal, and Marley has the same of the 7 listed minus the Female, and the Colossal. Hope this helped. Keep up the good reactions :D

The Attack Titan is the only Titan that can look into both the past and the future memories of its inheritors unlike others who can just look into the memories of the past inheritors, It was our Eren's memory that triggered Kruger to say the "If you want to save Mikasa and Armin" line

Not sure if there's going to be a movie or another season. That future knowledge paradox won't be resolved even in Season4 episodes. It's explained in the last dozen issues of the manga. Like the King of the Wall controls the Royal host of the Founding Titan, the Attack Titan controls its own host and the last host is actually Eren Yeager directing its actions from the far future. So if you think about the Attack Titan's knowledge of a possible future endgame event&then directing subconsciousness of its hosts, the title of the first episodes makes sense. It's like the groundhog day but happening in the 2000 yrs starting since Ymir died until the end when Eren dies.

Kruger's and Eren's Titan name is actually the name of the anime. Shingeki No Kyojin = Attack Titan. Lot of people miss this epic moment because they dont know the original japanese title.

When i was rewatching the series i commited to reading all mid-episode little infos and that's how i understood when kruger talked about mikasa and armin... the info on this episode said that the coordinate where all subjects of ymir link together can acctually "TRANSCEND TIME"
Diana was drawn to grisha's house cuz she said "no matter what form she becomes she will always find him" before she was tossed over the wall.

It is not explained very well in the anime but when Kruger said their names it is connected with what eren said (they are connected in one path and that path is the founding titan) thats why Kruger asked “whose memories are these”

Eren touching Dina Fritz (a royal) allows him to bypass the vow of renouncing war that all the royals are forced to succumb to when they inherit the Founding Titan.
Eren is not a royal, therefore he can use its powers.

Eren holds the powers of the attack titan and founding titan. Grisha got the attack titan from kruger, then proceeded to infiltrate the walls and EAT the Founding titan from the royal family. Eren has 2 titan powers in 1.
That sentence that Kruger says in the end, its the exact same thing Grisha said to Eren, right before he injected him and got eaten.
Dang I wish I could tell them the names of all the nine titans but I’ll say this Eren has 2 right now the Attack and the Coordinate/Founding Titan. The beast Titan is Zeke, Armored Titan is Reiner, Colosal was Bertholt but now Armin, the Female titan is Annie, and the last one we know of in this season is the Jaw Titan which ymir had.
Oh and also the Cart Titan the one that walked on four legs that we saw a little bit of in this 3rd season
