The studio kinda goofed up on not bringing more attention to that line at the beginning (when Momo's talking with her friends). It's just a throwaway line there, with nothing to tie it with the actor, and I doubt anyone (supported by none of the anime-only reactors catching it) would be able to pick up on it without reading the manga. Maybe a copyright issue with not using Ken's likeness (given they didn't use Obama, either)?

During that scene, he says one of the actor's lines unintentionally, "I'm an awkward fellow after all" and happens to have the same name, which checks all of the boxes for Ayase.
the right translation should be that hes old fashioned and not awkward. thats why he reminded momo of the actor and the "giving the girl the jacket" trope. but some Translator seems to make ken seem awkward, instead of a chad.

Just to put your fears at ease, this anime doesn’t have any sexual violence. There may be some dirty jokes, but at its core, it’s still Shonen and has a touching and heartfelt storytelling, so I want you to relax and enjoy the anime. 🙂

Ken Takakura is a old-school typecast, and that's why the manga translator chose to translate that way, but it's not exactly the context nor does it adhere to nuance. "awkward" is an acceptable translation, maintaining the meaning of a social klutz. I am ACTUALLY a native Japanese, and also natively fluent in English (as you can tell) and I'm telling you they did not "fumble" the translation. The translation you "prefer" is simply much more liberal with its localization, not necessary accurate.

Not really. Mushoku tensei requires you to stomach a protagonist who’s a pedophile, who sexually assaults children throughout the show. Really not the same thing at all. I don’t begrudge people for liking mushoku tensei, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the story, but have a little more self awareness about what other people are willing to tolerate
Thankfully, people are saying that they tone down on the “sexual activity”, because “lemme gobble that weenie” was hilarious and tame, but the alien abduction part (even if it is somewhat accurate) took this to a whole different level

The thing with dandadan, and part of what makes it so great is that it’ll have you laughing from the pure absurdity that happens in the plot and then every once in a while out of nowhere it’ll hit you with an absolute gut punch that’ll leave you crying
@ 9:30 I don't know if anyone told you about this, but the chi (ki in Dragon Ball / Japanese culture) and chakra originating from the abdomen is the same concept as "tanden" from Hell's Paradise. Also remember how Iroh in ATLA was teaching Zuko how to redirect lighting by letting the lightning travel through the stomach (tanden) and out the other arm.
While watching your reaction, I realized. She said he is keeping her first time for her hero Ken and as you said, the story is about her helping Ken getting his Winer back. So I think over the story, she is going to fall in love with him, they get his Winer back, and at the end of the story, now the he has his Winer back, she can give him her first time xD
the alien being interested in bananas is a reference to the Barney and Betty Hill incident where the guy got abducted by aliens and when he's back on earth he had the urge to check his banana even though he felt nothing anormal.
I absolutely get Carlie in this, as fun and hype as all of this was, the alien scene was incredibly uncomfortable, and I hope this was the first that's to come

Not really. Mushoku tensei requires you to stomach a protagonist who’s a pedophile, who sexually assaults children throughout the show. Really not the same thing at all. I don’t begrudge people for liking mushoku tensei, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the story, but have a little more self awareness about what other people are willing to tolerate

I don't know if anyone told you about this, but the chi (ki in Dragon Ball / Japanese culture) and chakra originating from the abdomen is the same concept as "tanden" from Hell's Paradise.
Also remember how Iroh in ATLA was teaching Zuko how to redirect lighting by letting the lightning travel through the stomach (tanden) and out the other arm.
