Actually, Kaori-san, it is difficult to find the best BECAUSE this is Malaysia. Everyone has a different interpretation of what the taste should be, so we can only find those closest to our personal tastes. My favourite nasi lemak came from a convenience store, and not even a proper shop, at that.

The crunchy part is not ginger. It is called Kerak which is the crispy part made from the spices of the chicken.
Dulu bangsar ada satu nasi lemak stall only jual at night (back in 2000ish i ingat)..we use to go there as students n ask the abang to tambah extra kerak which we call Ganja..

I'm a nasi lemak lover. I agree that it's hard to find the best one in town. Every shop/stall has its own distinctive taste. Perhaps that's the reason nasi lemak is Malaysian favourite, can't stop trying and eating 😋😅

Kaori, do try Village Park Nasi Lemak. Go with their signature fried chicken (drumstick is the best). I think their rendang is good but hvnt try so cant validate. They do grab delivery too cos their shop is always packed.

I love nasi lemak but I don’t know what’s the best one either 😅 they all taste great in general but my favourite has to be the ones wrapped in banana leaf, the simple ones.
How to define best? Every variation has its own merits. Hopefully Kaori-san find one that suit your palate soon.
I'll recommend one that I had recently. Yicha Kawkaw Kopitiam, they have 3 outlets I think, the one I went was at SS15.

try everywhere, you might find the ones that you'll like! the basic of nasi lemak is the same, it's the taste that is different. don't be surprised if you like the cheap ones more than the expensive ones!

Maybe not many know this but when I was growing up and got sick, my father would bring me to this government hospital called Tanglin Hospital and after that we’d have the nasi lemak there. It was perhaps the only nasi lemak sold then, and the best. I think after years of not selling when I was much older, several years ago, they started selling again. I like their sambal sotong, I’m surprised you can get it on Grab food now. Also delicious are Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa in Kg Baru and people say, Wanjo. I also like nasi lemak you can order from food panda like Nasi Lemak cop merah 223 but maybe the sambal is too expensive for Japanese. We Malays I think don’t know why the Chinese and Japanese are crazy about the nasi lemak at Village Park as to us we know way better ones in our neighbourhood or a family member can cook the sambal really well. To us, the sambal is so so, the fried chicken is okay but maybe a bit too much seasoning and the price kept going up and is quite ridiculous. Btw, check out a fusion Japanese restaurant called Kaito at Glo Damansara.

@@kaoriinmalaysia it’s right opposite klinik kesihatan tanglin, in the open carpark area. Very nice nasi lemak. You can visit the botanical garden for a nice morning walk and then go eat nasi lemak tanglin for breakfast 😄

Check out Mamalee nasi lemak, located a few doors away from the famous Village Park. I quite like them. In my opinion, I feel VP is overrated nowadays. If you think they're good now, they were so much better way back before they got really famous.

spend time accross Terengganu you'll find the best Nasi Lemak ikan tongkkol/bilis. You just need to try all Nasi Lemak at Terengganu. Here we have no fancy nasi lemak, it wether with "ikan bilis" atau "ikan tongkol" not like KL-Selangor nasi lemak when you can add another "Lauk" like "Sambal kerang, sambal udang, ayam goreng etc." and we lucky enough to meet nasi lemak with slice of boiled egg or with "Kangkung" in Terengganu. We are pure Terengganu usually consume about 2-3 bungkus of Nasi Lemak just to try which is tasted best for each stall we visit and teh tarik also 😂

Kaori-san, the BEST Nasi Lemak in Msia are most of the time the roadside stalls and only open for specific time of the day as it is usually sold out early.
However, i would recommend Village Park Nasi Lemak in Damansara Uptown if you like a good one. Its so good that even our politicians would go. However the chilli is quite spicy for Japanese taste though.

wow, haha.. u came all the way to Kepong(also where i am staying now) 🤣 but i felt ss2 branch is taste better than kepong branch though.. another option you can try is their village park nasi lemak located at damansara uptown nearby ss2 also..
since you go to ss2 as well, i recommend you this place (restoran lim mei yoke) they are famous for prawn mee,curry mee and cham loh mee,) 😍😍
