Yes, the "chanpuru" in Goya Chanpuru has the same meaning with "campur" in Malay.
The Goya Chanpuru wikipedia in Japanese even mention this trivia bit.
500-700 years ago, Ryukyuan Kingdom traded a lot with Southeast asian nations back then, when the lingua franca is Malay (in Southeast asian)
1:16 Sea grapes are also popular in coastal Sabah such as Semporna - locally called latok
I also suspect チャンプルis campur in Malay. In ancient time, during Malacca Sultanate, the admiral used to frequent Ryukyu Kingdom

In the past malacca sultanate do have diplomatic and trade relation with ryukyu kingdom. So there are probability that how the dish have a malay word and if im not mistaken campuru also mean mix in ryukyu language. Beside that if u listen to ryuku folk song title asadoya yunta, one of the lyrics " Matahaarinu chindara kanushama yo" sound similar to malay language "matahari mu sinaran kami sama yoo" which mean your sunshine lighten ours too.

For any non-Japanese, Okinawa Ryukyu food is like Thai food in Malaysia, A bit similar but very different. In fact, Okinawa Ryukyu language is totally different from Japanese. Most of the Japanese cannot understand Okinawa dialect (language) at all, it's like a foreign language to Japanese except for Okinawa people. Even Okinawa culture is totally different from standard Japanese culture. The old calendar new year 旧曆, which is usually the same day as Chinese New Year is still celebrated In Okinawa Ryukyu area But Japanese in general only celebrate western new year.
@K W But the Japanese government claimed they so called never annexed Okinawa Ryukyu region. It's always been part of Japan since ancient time. Hee hee hee hee hee 😁😁😁😁

Ah this, reminds me of actually walk into some backstreet restaurant by random due to local recommendation (English menu doesn't exists here and i only depend on google translate lens to get things moving, also I am the only foreigner in this fully packed restaurant) in Kokusai-dori and ordered "tafu campur" instead of "Tofu Chanpuru" and the shop actually understand it😂😂
Look forward to visit there again when they are open up for tourist again.

Unfortunately I disagree with the food review given. I ate the skewers and ordered the beer and it was all below average. For example I ordered the Highball and it felt diluted and didnt even came with a proper Suntory glass.
