out of all the places in the Warhammer universe to live, the Mootland seems like a pretty decent place to settle down. When there aren't vampires snooping around that is...
From this video I`ve learned that it`s hard to be an old man with a golden ring in the Empire. Especially if you`re from Averland or state-nobody-wants-to-visit
The namers are funnier when you pronounce them "Ung-rim", "Dwag-rim", "Big-rim", "Glog-rim", "Bog-rim", "Bomg-rim", "Dong-rim" and finally "Thorg-rim". Grombrindel is the only one not with rim in his name, therefore he is sus and quite possibly a half-ling instead. Probably stole that name from someone and called it borrowing.
Fun fact: You can buy a tasty meat pie at cheap price from Halfling vendors in almost every Imperial city. Unfortunately, it is also called Roiling Gut Pocket because the Halflings use their amazing cooking skill to hide the sorry state of ingredients (and sometimes mystery meats), resulting in many trips to the toilet afterward. Fun fact 2: There is an Empire-wide Halfling organization for equal right, called Quinsberry Lodge, specifically because the Halflings are most oppressed non-human minority within the Empire (with plenty of attacks and outright pogrom - especially by the Stirlanders, throughout the history), since both the Imperial Dwarfs and Elves are wealthy and powerful enough (both as a group and individuals) to escape persecution and even fight off the lynch mob (and in case of the Dwarfs, with the additional advantage of the Cult of Sigmar literally having 'be nice to Dwarfs' as religious doctrine).
Persecution, discrimination and even outright assaults against Dwarves and Elves living within the Empire probably still happen, they're likely just less frequent, both due to religious, political or social reasons as well as just the fact there's just less of them around. Also that such incidents of racial violence against elves and dwarves probably tend to be less...'note worthy' in most cases. (the sheer brutality and cruelty of it I mean)
@@novaterra973 True, dwarves and elves might tend to be more capable of fighting back atleast in a physical fight against would be linch mobs or other racially motivated attacks but I think it's more about *they can get away with fighting back or even killing in self defense or against potential assault too.* What I mean is that a Dwarf in say Altdorf were to defend himself from drunk, racist, dwarf-hating humans and managed to fight them off maybe even kill one or two of them then he's likely going to get off Scot free as far as the law is concerned but it's the strong possibility that he won't face serious retaliation outside the group that assaulted him. The other Rieklanders (where Altdorf is) probably won't raise too much of a fuss over such an incident because one it's not seen by most as sociable acceptable to harass a dwarf for no other reason than them being a dwarf (try to haggle them in a deal sure, or wary of sticky fingers maybe..) and two because for many humans in Sigmar's domain they see most dwarves (broadly speaking) as at best mankinds most staunch allies with similar or compatible interests and this has been proven multiple times over the centuries and generations of cooperation and comradeship between the two races. Over the generations of fighting together in countless wars and battles against hordes of monsters and mutual enemies strong, lasting alliances have been reaffirmed time and time again. Not to mention the dwarves historical aid to reconstruction efforts after said conflicts which has engendered mostly high opinions and mutual respect in the popular consciousness of many Imperials if not outright good will, barring personal friendships and bonds, grudges and hatred between individuals or subgroup to subgroup relations. That's not even counting the numerous gifts given and contributions the dwarves civilization has made to the Empire from famous landmarks and engineering projects like dwarf made or designed bridges and walls to roads, fortifications and other vital Infrastructure which has made dwaf kind pretty synonymous with reliability further cementing their image as decent, hard working folk that are not be too harshly treated. (when possible or convenient..) Now ofcourse individuals are not stereotypes positive or negative, not ever dwarf is a friend, reliable, hardworking or good with crafting. Contrasted with halflings whom started out their notable place in the Empire's history as takers of people's lands and homes when the ill fated decision of the all ready (at the time and even today) hated Emperor Ludwig the fat (lovely moniker..) to give parts of Averland and Stirland to the newly founded (at the time) province of the Moot or Mootland province. This basically set the tone for Averland's and maybe more so Stirland's rocky and turbulent relationship with the Moot and the Halflings of the Empire for centuries to come. This along with the Halflings steadily growing influence on the Empire and control of its vital bureaucracy through their status as an Imperial province and having their own elector vote on selecting the Emperors of the Empire made already distrustful and resentful humans all the more adverse to halflings, mainly in those provinces that had to now seriously compete economically with the raising agricultural and tobacco industry powerhouse of the Mootland in its early years. This continued on with building tensions until a Stirland elector count managed to win an election and became Emperor who made it practically state policy to discriminate against and even encouraged assaults or mass riots against mainly halflings living outside the Moot destroying their homes or businesses. This set off a near Empire wide powder keg of racial violence and even full blown progroms against halflings which saw the uprooting of their enctched positions within the Empire's bureaucracy leading to an eventual drastic reduction in Halflings living outside the Moot and with most halflings coming to see humans as at best necessary allies but could quickly turn to viscous enemies and so most halflings today live in the Moot as far away as possible from the world of men at large outside of vital trade and necessary cooperation. (again baring friendships, relationships and bonds between individuals and subgroups) Ofcourse things are alot better now as far as discrimination and hate against halflings goes due in no small part to halfling rights organizations like the *"Queensberry lodge"* a halfling run group that sought to aid oppressed or discriminated halflings across the Empire and protect halflings from racial violence or attacks. This along with general trends of most humans becoming much less antagonistic toward halflings and it being seen as "unfashionable" to be harsh to the small-folk or at the very least are more tolerant of their presence or more indifferent about them save for maybe folks from Stirland or Averland but even that hard cultural sentimentality has grown softer and has become more and more the sphere of outspoken racist groups or individuals than just casual rascism abounding over the latter centuries and newer generations.
