Why cant you pour at an angle? I also live in Florida and every few months I have to add a little coolant to the reservoir because I am sure caused by evaporation. So I just stick a funnel in there and add about roughly 15-20 ounces worth. I have never pulled the reservoir out to add coolant.
If you’re adding coolant occasionally, pull up the degas reservoir, and look for a small crack underneath near the hose. The leak appears intermittent because the coolant dries and seals the leak.
My bottle is under the hood pan(??), you can't get a normal funnel in there, you need one that has a flexible neck or hose. I'm with the dude, just lift the bottle up and out, its not screwed down or anything.
Water in the engine block and in the heater core, so what is the final concentration after adding coolant to the radiator? (I need 70% for -40 up here in Alaska)
for us its about 50/50. in your situation what ever was left in the system should have the correct ratio as long as you make sure what you put back in also does and you should be fine. having a little bit left over of the old coolant in the heater core shouldnt hurt anything
If you want more than a 50% concentration you need to buy the concentrated coolant, not the premixed, and if you add half a gal of distilled (preferably) water to one gal of concentrated coolant you get a 67/33 mix. You can do the math and fine-tune it to your needs.
@@georgerife8729 Yes but if there is water in the engine block and in the heater core, even adding 70% mix would result in a dilution less than 70%. That is why the engine block and heater core need to be drained.
Say 3 quarts trapped. If you flushed with water a few times, then it is almost all water in there. 7-8 total, so you should just add it straight. and then use a tester (recalibrate a generic one if you can't find one for the coolant you have)
We used straight coolant because we forgot to mix it with water. We actually had to flush it all again to replace the water pump a week later, and that's when we mixed the straight coolant with water.
make sure you have the fill cap off of the de-gas bottle first. if nothing comes out try unscrewing the plug all of the way and if none of that works the drain may be blocked and you can remove the lower radiator hose
Your supposed to mix the coolant down to 50/50 or 40/60 when using concentrated coolant. And u didn’t even bleed / burp the system. Thank the lord your not a mechanic.
I never saw a new Ford use anything but dexcool. If they mixed green in it and it was originally orange, that could make a huge clog. I've seen it on a jeep one time. Not pretty..

That’s a blown head gasket, not evaporation.
The 1.5 and 2.0 Ecoboosts have a TSB out for that.

What is the size of hose to put on the drain hole?
How long would this take
They make this thing called a "funnel," prounounced fun 'el. Ingenious device for pouring at an angle. 😛
The capacity for these cars depending on engine is 8.6-10.6 Quarts if i'm not mistaken, so you've done a partial change.
Probably on the hood sticker...lmao.
Incorrect.
The coolant capacity is 7 US quarts.
@@badactor34402013 Ford escape is almost 12Qt. It’s a partial job, forgot to also drain the engine compartment.
Very helpful video. Thank you

did you use a pre-mix or straight coolant when you refilled? I ask because I know it can be tricky getting the ratio correct
We used straight coolant because we forgot to mix it with water. We actually had to flush it all again to replace the water pump a week later, and that's when we mixed the straight coolant with water.
It uses Ford ORANGE, not gold.
Prestone any make any model is the best coolent u can buy
@@totljag1 lol
this orange descontinued, now come yellow, but only 1 gallon fills the radiator, dude?, please answer
where is it located the cap
Hi
I open small tap but nothing comes out. Actually I only move tap for 90 degree ,I didn't wont to use tools because I worry that it can be broken?

My coolant tank keeps leaking when i fill it up. It never reach the maximum level, just stay at minimum. Is that a problem?
Yes I would say you have a leak somewhere
Yes, I changed the coolant reservoir because of a leak in it.
I removed the intake hose to have more space to remove the tab.
How many quarts put

Is it the same for a 2015 Ford Escape Titanium?
i believe so. as long as it has the same 6 cylinder ecoboost engine
It's different, but I took off a bottom hose and did it yesterday. Thanks anyway.
NEVER NEVER Use the cockpit to drain! Pull the bottom hose and *Drain*
Note: I'd use the Orange Coolant.

@@JM811Cars didn't know. I have a 2012. It's got dex in mine. Glad to hear they got away from it. That crap destroyed my 2001 alero intake gasket.
If you live in a warm climate, stick with the DexCool. It will not cause any problems.
04:34-04:36 ---Disgusting. Was that necessary?
