Written in as the details of the Watergate scandal were being unveiled, Dickie's Such an asshole "demonstrates Zappa's interest in government "actions". The song focuses on the FBI's eavesdropping techniques and the tape collection of Richard Nixon (Dickie)... The song follows a blues rock motif with fast percussion inserts and illustrative musical segments,a technique also used In "penguin in bondage"at the same time. This live recording with Napoleon Murphy Brock as lead singer is a great performance,by all mothers!!!! Thank you!!! Frank never ceases to surprise you!!!!
LIVE MUSIC WITH FRANK ZAPPA AND THIS BAND IT'S AWESOME!! I LOVE TO SEE LIVE ZAPPA!! INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE AND AWESOME VOCALS!! VERY BLUESY 💙 I REALLY ENJOYED THIS ONE!! AWESOME REACTION RORY 💙 AND THANK YOU WHOMEVER REQUESTED THIS GEM 😊🩷🔥🤘🔥✌️
Wow amazing Frank Zappa was unique a true genious how he plays the instruments fitting the melodies and his wiggly fingers to play it along with a combination of good musicians who live passionately music 👍🎸🎹
NMB was the best front man ever. And I firmly believe this was Frank’s best stage band ever. What’s surprising me here is I thought I had seen all of the Roxy shows videos but I hadn’t seen this one so this is a special treat thanks to you Rory. So glad to still watch you, a Zappa fan, reacting to Zappa. You are one of the very few on FB that are sticking with it so thank you very much for that too!
Never understood why this didn't make the original Roxy And Elsewhere album. Didn't realize till much later that this performance existed. Great tune, lyrics, vocals and the band just mashes it.
I don't know that a song with a title that calls the (then) sitting president an 455H0L3 would be able to go on an album. That said, ROXY & Elsewhere really should've been a triple-LP, including such great performances as Montana and Dupree's Paradise. About those two great performances: do you recall the teaser video that came out probably a decade before ROXY: The Movie finally came out? Those two songs are that teaser, are great performances, and both of them are NOT even in the movie. WTF??
I haven't seen this before. Thanks. Napoleon Murphy Brock: lead vocal . You've seen him before (on "Montana" I think) and commented on his dancing antics.
Amazing version from the "You can't do that on stage anymore" set, and this vid also has extra content edited from the CD I have, such an epic performance.
Clearly 90-95% of the edits Frank made of the song for Stage Vol 3 and Stage Sampler come from this take - we shouldn't be surprised, he admitted in the Stage Series notes to favouring film footage as a source. In these 1973-74 renditions, the quotes from King Kong and Billy The Mountain are that much more noticeable. Inauthenticity alert - we don't get to hear the You Cheated quote in this video.
Lots about the previous, but considering he went after Nixon and Reagan, yet never made any comments on Carter, not so sure he'd go after the current Prez.
He may not have done a song on Biden and the Dems, but in interviews I think he would be very disappointed in them, firstly because of how censurious they have become. Not that he ever really loved them anyway. I'm sure he'd still hate the GOP with a special passion. Actually, if he lived this long he may have taken a serious run for president. He talked about doing it, essentially the way Biden did - just do interviews from his home, not the traditional barnstorming.
@@rickmerlotti7720 he was critical of US government in general, but he warned about the GOP in the 80s, as Reagan started them down the path to what he called, Theocratic Fascism. What he would say about today's GOP would be scathing.

Napoleon IS THE BEST ever.. Goes without saying. Zappa dancing because he felt good in that line-up.
The best singer/dancer I’ve ever seen live.

Frank loves to take all the CHAOS in his songs and tie it into a Pretty Red Bow with his Guitar. BRAVO!!!!
So rejoicing ! FZ is the best
Now let's bring the Conservative Party up to date. Rishi's such an asshole.
His name is Napoleon Murphy Brock. He' was one of the best front men in the business! As you say, "Fire".

In the interest of being fair and equal you now need to listen to Rhymin Man!
Tall & Tan
From the same album, Promiscuous
@@Royale_with_Cheeze Promiscuous and Rhymin' Man are tracks from _Broadway the Hard Way_
@@Civilizashum
What I meant is that, when Tim Feely suggested Rhymin' Man, I said Promiscuous, meaning from the same album as Rhymin' Man.
Napi!
If Zappa were alive today and performing, what would he write about the former president?
What would be write about the current president?
