damn. i just realized after watching your video that i put mine on backwards lol. it didn't fall out but i wonder if it will leak. time will tell and if so, liiks like i'll just replace it again. it's cheap enough.
Hey brother man I need some advise badly. My car blows a ton of smoke out of the exhaust on startup, and my oil light comes on every week so I know it’s burning oil. And a mechanic told me it’s probably the valve covers on my 08 Chevy avalanche 5.3L. Watching other videos shows the repair on this video as the fix but I don’t understand how that cover or the seal would be causing oil leaking into the exhaust system. If you could clarify I might be doing this job to fix my issue. Thanks a million.
It is most likely your valve cover on the drivers side. There is an update to them so that the pcv doesnt suck the oil into the intake causing oil consumption.
I don’t believe it’s necessary. I just had the suburban back for some more maintenance and no new leaks. I did check the valve cover bolts and they were still snug.
No, the valve cover gaskets only seal the top of the cylinder heads on this type of motor. If you’re getting oil in the cylinder it could be a few things. Worn out piston rings, bad valve seals or a bad pcv system.
Thank you for posting this! I really needed it for doing my own valve covers for my avalanche.
Thank you for this great description and video caption.
Thank you for the step by step I’m be able to do my own with No problems

More likely the valve guide seals. Have the heads redone.. or do like I did. I bought another tahoe 😂

@@KilonovaPlants dude I finally found that out from extensive research I replaced it 6 months ago and it fixed it. Thanks!
I see you didn’t use any sealant for the gaskets. Is that not necessary?

Love the video wish it was more in-depth details and not time lapse
Sorry man, I gotta do the same job on my LS2 Pontiac G8 I’ll be more in-depth on that one.
thanks
Would a bad valve cover gasket be the reason I have oil in my spark plugs?

@@Primer2toneGarage could also have a bad intake mani gasket
Could’ve done without the background music lol
Maybe if you showed everything you wouldn't have to explain so much
