  • Millennials have been called the "burnout generation," but burnout has nothing to do with age and everything to do with the way we live our lives now.

*Burnout is what happens when you try to avoid being human for too long.*

correct, also if you work few months in a row non-stop without day off. Burn-out recovery took me 3 years, insane experience. I didn't even have the energy to go on holiday. I wish I knew back then what I know now.

I think we've seen our parents work so hard on their jobs that it affects social time, and that's precisely what we want to avoid. Also we are more aware of unethical practices that take place to squeeze out employee time.

2:03 - Sinek's passion for spreading his invaluable knowledge cannot be humanly contained. 😏 And, quite frankly, it's contagious. Spectacular!

Something he didn't say directly, but could be inferred: he said that people are disengaged when their bosses don't act like they exist.
Possible inference: social media makes us feel overwhelmed by virtue of its sheer volume. There's so many people posting so much stuff, that we begin to feel like our existence doesn't really matter. Hence, more burnout.

A boss should always talk to their employees. Anyone that doesnt shouldnt be one.

I think we are because we learn too much useless information. I survived cancer twice and lost half my face to amputation.. a tumor destroyed my jaw and changed everything.. I was labeled a freak. I decided to start over, travel South America and start a youtube channel to inspire others who feel ugly and not good enough for this world.. it's all about energy and mindset.. my scars will not define me. with optimism and positive projection you can overcome any mental or physical hurdle. self love from within overpowers any physical shell! go check me out and subscribe if you want to help me grow. i want to give people a spark of change and join me on my journey!

I think it’s more of a *habitual* thing for burnout. If we don’t take care of our well-being, we’ll burnout inevitably.

Thanks for sharing Simon, fascinating!! I will say, the Millennials on our team sure have their hands full, but they're some of the hardest working individuals I've ever met. I couldn't be more proud to have them on our team!

I’ve been thinking a lot about this recently and while I am not focused on this subject on my channel, I’m so grateful that people like Simon are really focusing in. Not only is he a fantastic speaker, he really pulls you into what he’s talking about. So enjoyable to listen to.

Average working hours have increased, burnout is more likely.

True. Most importantly because we are always trying to do a lot of things, all at once. When we are being mindful of our work and our actions, it very easily solves the issue.
