    Hello everyone and welcome back to Brink of Speed. Today I will show you how to find the secret mode inside of driving modes so you can try to beat GM's 0-60 time! I give you some cool points of view in this video. I really hope you enjoy it! Have a wonderful week everyone!

      So you Trust the speedo clock and you are not using a GPS device? What the Heck? These Times der useles. Its proven that the corvette messuring is crazy inacurate. There is no GPS messured c8 wich is near your faketimes. 0-60 is allways more than 3.1+ second

    • @jeremyquade5543
      @jeremyquade5543 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your absolutely correct. My c8 consistently shows 2.7-2.8 but when run with Draggy the 2.7 run is actually a 3.1. The gm dash incorporates a 1 ft roll out. It’s a feel good dash lol

    • @RobertZinn
      @RobertZinn 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DickeJunge_vonderSchaukel I agree that the dashboard's 0-60 times and the PDR's Video overlay times are many times inaccurate. They even seem to show times under the actual 1-ft rollout. Car and Driver and Motor Trend have standardized measuring their vehicles with the 1-foot rollout. This is also used by the NHRA.
      That said, my heavier non-Z51 C8 Hard Top Convertible stingray with performance exhaust (like the Z51) is rated at 3.0 by Car and Driver for the 1-ft rollout. I have done 0-60mph runs of 2.95s proven by both Dragy DRG70 (2.95s) and the PI Toolbox (2.917s) that processes the data contained in the PDR's mp4 file. I was pulling 1.14g.
      RUN CONDITIONS: Altitude 451ft, DA -576ft, slope -0.69%. Outside air temp: 46 deg F. Intake air temp: 54deg F. All Season Tires, Rear tire pressure: 33.1psi, Rear Tire temp: 66deg. Zero tire slip detected. 4.71 gallons of 93 octane fuel in tank. Sport Mode, 3500rpm. Driver weight: 239lbs, Not on a prepared track.
      With two people in the car and a 10.22 gallons of fuel in tank, I have pulled 3.0 seconds for a 0-60 1ft rollout.

    Lowering your rear pressure to 28 psi and raising fronts to 38 psi as can be seen at 2:46-2:48 into the video also helped you to beat GM’s time, which was done at 30/30 psi front/rear.

      Definitely need to have clean pavement too. Helps if you burn off the tires too. 3.5 and lower is probably what you're going to see otherwise

    I don't understand why they have to make it so difficult. You have to do all these steps to unlock the full potential of the car. It's a performance car, people are buying it for the performance. Without videos like this how many people would know all those little steps?

    these c8's are beasts off the line against most anything out there... sure down the end of the 1/4 mi someone with higher hp may catch you but off the line, these are formidable and make great use of the power thats there in a 2 wheel drive platform.....new sub here!

    • @BrinkofSpeed
      @BrinkofSpeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Skip741 x They sure are, and I totally agree, but they still produce a fast quarter mile time as well. I’m thinking after about 130mph they will definitely fall off. Awesome, welcome to the Brink of Speed community! 😊👊🙌

    Hey there! I know this is old however I just recently hit 500 miles in my 2022 HTC. And yes you know it, went and launched the car several times. My first couple were on concrete and I could consistently get 3.1-3.3 and I was upset. I wanted to see that under 3.0 number,,, It just felt like it didnt want to hook up no matter what mode I was in so I pulled onto a "newer" blacktop highway and that's where I was screaming like a you were!!!!. It definitely liked the black top over the concrete. Of the launches my best were a 2.9, and three 2.8's. And the 2.8's actually came in Sport 2 mode, not race mode.... I had to share! I was laughing and giggling all the way home,,,, its a rush and an unreal feeling! Remarkable launch control and performance! Thanks for all your content and also the email help you gave me on the ground effects kit in the past,,,, loving this car!!!!

      The slowest GM will claim for the Z06 may be 2.7 or probably 2.6 twin turbo gotta be at least 4 tenths faster 0-60 with a little more weight and slightly slower gearing to put down better traction and better highway acceleration 2.2 or less and hybrid Zora bragging rights of less than 2 seconds crazy! Pure Electric Car acceleration of the hyper car kind coming out of a hybrid geez

    The 2.8 and 2.9 you did, are those with traction on and stability on? And how many 0 to 60 in a roll can the car take until you let it rest for 5 min or so? Is the 0 to 60 hard on the hard and I assume GM warranty the car for the 0 to 60 launch control mode?

      The 0 to 60 and 0 to 100 times have confused me with the C8 now this video has pretty much figured it out.. tire slip on high 50s on 2-3 shift causing 60 timer to trip early..

    Mike, that was a nicely produced video. So nice in fact I think you helped me figure out how the C8 is posting these mid to high 2 sec runs to 60 on the pdr and dash timer?
    Did you notice how your first run or two at 3.1 and 3.0 (using a 1ft rollout which we knew from Dragy results) all of a sudden drops down to 2.8? You find that a but odd? I do. Here's what I suggest may be occurring.
    The 2-3 shift which occurs in the mid 50s may be chirping that drive tire and causing the timer to trip yet it's still .2 or so away from ACTUALLY hitting 60mph...
    There was a guy on Instagram with a 2.5 and 2.6 on a cold night... see.. the car is shifitng so hard its Spinning that tire just enough to throw it off.
    That's why the Dragys are showing much slower runs.
    How about picking up a Dragy and doing a video with that on v the pdr and dash timer?
    I would love to see that to prove or disprove my theory..
    Thanks again for the great content.. looks like a lot of work. Your superimposing the speedo has finally solved this mystery to me.

    • @BrinkofSpeed
      @BrinkofSpeed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Charlie Jones WOW, this is an interesting theory. I never felt the car have tire spin from 2nd to 3rd, only sometimes from 1st to 2nd. I’ll have to do that one of these days and test it out for sure. Thank you so much for your kind words and support, I really appreciate it. 😊

      Watch that video. Look at the 0 to 60 time and 0 to 100..
      2.70 is 7.20
      2.94 is SAME.. I surmise only way possible is 60 timer is tripped accidentally by a slipping tire from violent 2-3 shift.

    • @charliejonesjr5518
      @charliejonesjr5518 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrinkofSpeed for a car to drop .2 .3 like that and revert back (inconsistent) when tire slip is so so similar and the conditions (10x in a row etc) something is up. Car is NA. Boosted car? I could see it. Not this car. It should be ripping same or within. 1 .2 MAX but watching them go from low 3 to mid 2's caught my attention. Get that dragy and compare please. Compare those 2.8 runs vs the dragy. Tire slip wouldn't matter to dragy. Bet that car is consistent 3.0 ish on nose. Not 2.6 2.7.

    You don’t want the car to squat. That’s old school drag racing way of thinking. In 2020 You want the tires to plant into the ground but you actually want the body to come up and separate from the back tire.

    You need to let the car shift itself. Paddles will not/do not (proven), make any vehicle quicker. Its just a sporty way of driving. Launch control also in many vehicles, does not yield the quickest times either. Both proven by the pros.
