Great video.i dont have time to read the book.keep posting the c8 content.no one as of yet posted the 5 second hold to access the modes w/o turning the car on. Learned some thing new..thanks
Thanks, Jeremy. My C8's still in the break-in period so haven't tried Launch yet. But when you were using Sport mode launch control, were exhaust valves at wide open like they are in Track mode?
Jeremy, Are there any other constraints that are put on the C8 Z51 Launch Control? I've noticed that if I'm on a hill (about 5% grade or more) that 1,700 RPMs is all I get. YES - the brake is MASHED to the floor ;-)... just back from Spring Mtn - Rick M says hi!
@@etdcorvettes Happy New Year! Yes, Spring Mtg was a blast. Was curious if you found other non-documented limitations (e.g. percent grade, loading of vehicle, etc.). y/n? The only limitation listed in the manual is that that steering wheel needs to be straight.
Got couple questions I always wondered about those. Those 0 to 60 times are with in-car timer right? I heard it's not that accurate. So has anyone got draggy or similar app and tested out the 0 to 60mph? And I am interested in stock tires and on street for the 0 to 60mph (not at drag strip with prepped surface etc) Is it close to 2.8?! Because very few cars can do that on the street so I am trying to find out!!! If so that's very impressive! (also how off is the in-car timer? but for PDR it's pretty accurate right?) Another question is I think to get the fastest 0 to 60 you need to turn everything off, so in track mode and with everything off. But is that dangerous on the street and drag strip with stability off? Will the car go out of control easily or not bad and it's manageable? Interested in your experiences etc. thanks for your help
It's pretty accurate, but I have noticed that the DIC displayed time and the PDR displayed times can differ by about 0.2 seconds at times. You don't have to turn everythign off in track mode to get the best time. I've seen some get their best times in Sport mode!
I just can’t get mine to rev to 3500 even though I press the break all the way to the floor as suggested. Must the engine heat be at half way when doing that?
@@etdcorvettes I DID! So my problem was not flooring the gas in one go. I was squeezing it smoothly until it hit the floor, but apparently it has to be a rapid flooring of the gas
Jeremy. Great vid! Question: Does a non-Z51 have PTM if it has FE2 (MRSC) suspension? Does that make a difference in settings you can achieve for Launch Control? Final question: I would think the different rear diff gear in the Z51 would result in slightly better roll-out and launch times. Yes? No? - Gary
Thank you! For 2021, yes, the non-Z51 FE2 has PTM. Use can use launch control in Sport and all PTM modes. And yes, I believe you are correct. Our Z51 launches have consistently been a little quicker than our non-Z51 launches.
But, but, but, you CAN'T have a sub 0-60 time in an American car. You just CAN'T. :D Fun video, and heck, by the time I can afford a C8, I may know how to drive it!
Interesting that your 256 memory card shows 1,000 minutes of recording time because I have a 128 card and it also shows 1,000 minutes of recording time. Maybe thats as high as it can measure.
Owned the car for 2 months+ now and just figured out the launch control lol, thank you
You're welcome...enjoy the drive!
Sounds raw in your garage....love cold starts!!
Indeed! :)
Great video! Pete Doran here, We had a lot of fun at Spring Mountain!
Thanks! Spring Mountain was and always is a blast! :)
FYI, I put in a 512Gb SD card for my PDR and it worked fine. My bet is even a TB or any size will fit as long as it is a class 10.

Thank you...glad you learned something helpful!
Thanks, very informative, and excellent final runs.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Outstanding video!
Thank you!

Yes, they are wide open during launch. Congrats on your new C8!
Now this is what I call Preference... You have an Orange vehicle with Blue interior? Wow.... Well alrighty.. Respect...

No, something is amiss it seems. Did you get it to work? Sorry for the delayed reply.

Once you release the brake, do you keep the gas pedal floored until you reach 60?
Yes, keep it all the way to the floor.
Jeremy, regarding launch control, what is different if it is a non Z51 C8...with performance exhaust? I really enjoy your C8 videos.
You should still have competitive driving mode in Sport Mode for launch control use.
Is it possible to program the launch mode into the Z mode or My mode.......how?
Launch mode only works in Sport and Track modes.
Great video!
Thanks!

Foot to the floor on the brake. Is your gas pedal to the floor as well and it caps at 3500 RPM?
Yes, gas pedal all the way to the floor and the launch control holds the RPM at 3500 until you release the brake pedal.
👍👍

Correct, that's the highest it will show.
Thanks this is helpful. One suggestion from one Jeremy to another - don't stick your tongue out at the camera lol
Too late! LOL
