I have become a better fisherman watching The Fishing Machine !! Second to none , wooo
Richard Gene is the greatest angler to ever live
You are great at explaining science without losing your audience. A true fishing legend. Thank you sir.
Hey, Richard. Great video. Panfish catching is just plain old fun. They're great to get into with kids and grandkids. But us old men enjoy them as well.
Richard, I hope you understand how much y'all mean to us. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
God bless y'all for all that you do. Y'all stay safe out there on the water.
Give Mama Sue a big hug from us and a big thank you for sharing your time with us.
Richard, love you videos, and love to catch bream and chinkapin (that’s what we call shellcrackers in Louisiana). But about 10 years ago I read an article in Field & Stream about a technique to find these fish which has changed my fishing life: drop shot! The technique is the same as bass fishing, but the tackle is different: a bream hook, fished about a foot above a 1/4 oz sinker. I have caught hundreds, if not thousands since I started using this technique! The other secret is the bait : I use nothing but Berkley fake crickets! I buy them by the jar, and I’ve caught as many as 5 fish on 1 cricket! Give it a try - you’ll be amazed!
I been in Lousiana quite a bit and never heard of redear sunfish being called chinquapin (chinkapin) which is a type of tree. Must just be you and your family because it isn't common and it certainly isn't correct. Everyone I know in the deep south call redears shellcrackers.
Google it…
@@darrellwiseman4518 The redear sunfish (Lepomis microlophus), also known as the shellcracker, Georgia bream, cherry gill, chinquapin, improved bream, rouge ear sunfish and sun perch) is a freshwater fish in the family Centrarchidae and is native to the southeastern United States.
@@darrellwiseman4518no we call them Chinquapin in south La. Very common nickname for them. Very common.
@@darrellwiseman4518 it's a type of white oak, I used to buy them all the time back in my stave mill days. ;)
Richard I really injoy watching you. I retired 2 years ago and I am fishing all I can now. I never fished with jigs,I'm learning how by watching you, and I am injoying it. You are a good fishing buddy. God bless you and keep on being my friend
I'm right with you Mr. Richard. Bluegill and shellcracker are by far the best eating fish. Thanks for another great video!!
Love those Bluegill, a pain (for me) to filet, but worth it!
My favorites change, but Small Silver Bass, Rock Bass and Yellow Perch!! Yum!
Thanks, Richard, for being a wonderful American. Always enjoy your upbeat spirit and bringing us enjoyment ourselves. God bless you and Mrs. Sue
Waiting for you to do the “moon walk” in the boat!
Love catching bluegill, and they're my favorite tasting freshwater fish too. Underrated fish for sure
I’ve never learned so much about fishing till I started watching your videos keep up the teaching lessons I need more learning love your videos tell momma sue hello from Nebraska
The only other great fisherman that would give this much information was Bill Dance. Now it's the great dynamic duo of Mr. Richard Gene and Elmo
All Bill Dance was is a Strike King 30 min. commercial.
Hi Mr. Richard. Thank you for sharing another great outing. I really appreciate that you take the time to explain your fishing plan before putting it in action, then allowing us to see the results of your plan as it plays out. May God continue to bless you and your family.
Always enjoy your videos especially panfishing and bass fishing. Your way of simplifying your methods and your enthusiasm is second to none! Thanks Richard for showing everyone you can have fun, catch fish without all the gimmicks that catch a lot of fishermen. God Bless and get them filets ready before Moma Sue gets back with thw cornmeal!
That’s a man right there! Come here boy 🤣
Had my aldridgallen on high!
Thanks again for the lesson!
I am a novice fisherman, and the big "A" that I see on your hat sometimes tells me that you might not be fishing too far from me here in Central Alabama, I am learning a lot from your videos and appreciate you posting them.
Richard. I just stared watching your videos and find them entertaining and full of helpful tips. You have got me fired up to catch Shellcrackers in our lake. I live on Lay Lake in Alabama. I’ve been trying your techniques and have had some success. Only caught small ones. Still on the hunt. Keep putting out great videos.
Thank you, Richard. You really do everything beautifully simply. It's so easy to get swept up in buying tons of unnecessary gear. Great, honest water craft.
Great video 😊 I setup a native fish mini pond with bluegill and pumpkinseed sunfish
Richard, you sir have made me a better fisherman by watching your videos.
Mr. Gene me and my husband love watching you and Ms. Momma Sue, but my favorite part is the way you talk and treat momma Sue, love you both.
Thank you Richard, super info and video like always! I too like so many people have become a better fisherman watching you get it done! We love how you take us step by step on what to do, you are a great teacher! Bluegill and shellcracker are by far the best eating fish. God bless you and momma sue always!😇
You are the best I’ve learned more of watching you than I’ve learned the last 25 years. Keep them coming.
Definitely perfect for dinner time,, they are the best fried with a cold 🥶 drink thanks for the new video Richard and have great weekend...
Thanks again for all you do and show us Richard. I've been fishing since mid April and have stocked my freezer up for the year with those big bull bluegill and shellcracker. I'm a bank fisherman so I take total advantage of spawning season here around the Clarksville, TN area. I use nearly all of your techniques and I catch fish while others are asking me what I'm using😆😆😆 God Bless you and Mama Sue and continue to do what you do😤💪🏾🤞🏾🤝🏾
Mr.Gene is the heart and soul of fishing there is never a dull moment with him.His videos are the most informative of most .😊😊😊
Some of the funnest time of year is when you can sight fish big sunfish in shallow water. It's that time now in missouri. The ultralight setups been gettin a workout lately Gene
Where are you located in Missouri I’m from Troy Mo
Richard, brother i have been following you for a little over a year now. You (in my opinion) are the best in the business! I have used your techniques since last year, i had some success as a first time fisherman last year and with a year under my belt i felt good about catching fish this year. Well, i haven't had any success at all brother :( I don't know what i'm doing wrong and am on the verge of just giving up. i've been out every day for about a month and a half and i have caught nothing. I just don't know what i'm doing wrong.
I’ve been watching your videos 4 years now and I have thoroughly enjoyed every one! We love us some Richard Gene in Savannah, Tn.! Theeeeeeeyyyyyyy!
I hook worms the same way, but use a slip float. They’re on the beds here in Michigan now, catch the big ones on deep beds. I’ve seen them spawn on beds as deep as 10 feet or more in our clear water lakes👍 I use four pound test because I’ve caught many bass also.
Thanks Fishing Machine!! Beautiful setting to enjoy!!!
Going fishing in the morning, going to try this out! Thanks Richard!
Great video as always it was a pleasure meeting you today it made my dad's day thanks for the tips!!!
Love the dark colors those bluegill get this time of year Richard!!! Beautiful fish 🐟
Awesome video Richard 🔥🔥🎣🎣
You truly are the best one on TH-cam I fish hartwell and your tactics have worked for me
Always watching Richard gene good ole fishing yes sir
Man you have the best fishing videos. I’ve learned a lot watching you. I learned a lot about fishing from my uncle and my wife’s grandfather, your techniques and knowledge remind me of them. God Bless.
Richard is best there is hands down!
Bluegill are very tasty! I love catching and cooking em!
Richard: First, I want to say thanks for all your informative videos. I appreciate the details about equipment, technique, time of day/year, etc. I would like to ask you to do a video on make, model, and rigging of your boat, motor(s), trailer. I really like the way its been set up. I am especially interested in the boat, as it has an open cockpit, plenty of room, no bench seat to get in the way, and storage under the front deck. Thanks you. Have a great summer!
Love your videos! I really like using your techniques when I go fishing. Cheers, God Bless
Have you ever done a video showing how you like to clean and cook your bream?
Thank you Richard I enjoy every minute of every video again thank you and may God continue to bless us and you
Those were some monster bluegill! Awesome day, Richard. You are The Man!
The best man doing it gives u good tips and I have caught many more fish by just watching this channel
Love the videos, Definitely love bluegills. You're right they are good eatin. Can you do more clean and cooks after your catches?
Keep on truckin Mr. Gene! I wouldn’t change a thing!!!
I recently caught a mess of bluegill on my fly rod at one of my local lakes in California, man it was a blast made me want to learn more about these fish. Iv been fishing all my life but for some reason I never really targeted bluegill or crappie. Richard Gene I must say you are so much fun to watch and iv learned so much from you, this is my new favorite channel to watch thank you for all the knowledge and the good laughs god bless.
My favorite fisherman by a long shot. I too used to love blugill fishing but i've somehow got addicted to chasing them old big flatheads. This video made me want to just go have fun like I used to. Thanks brother and keep em coming. If you get time could you do a video on flatheads, always looking to learn new tricks. Thanks pal, God bless you and your family.
Richard , your the best, keep up the great videos.
Nice video...God Bless you Richard and Mama Sue (Diane).
Thank you for great teaching videos
Great job 🎣
great fishing info as always ... sure miss fishing in Alabama The Beautiful !
I fish the same way in the fall when the leaves fall. I use a hypo and put an air bubble in the tail to keep it off the bottom (and leaves) and very slowly twitch it in. Killer for walleye, bass, red ear, & gill. My favorite eating is red ear !
I agree blue is the best tasting fish and fun to catch. Love your channel ❤God bless you and your family (and subscribers).
Another great video --- my kinda fishing. "THANKS"
Bluegill are the best eating fish there is Woooo!
Nice fishing there sir... I am headed out this weekend for some gills...they r very yummy indeed...
amazing fisher in amazing fishery. Doesn't get any better.
When I was growing up and started fishing we never bought fish at the store again.
"I feel like fish for supper." meant a trip down to the "bullgill" hole, some crappie, or some clean, French Broad River flathead catfish.
For a second there at the beginning I was sort of expecting you to break into a Richard Gene rendition of Michael Jackson's "Beat it." 😉😋
I do love eating bluegill. They were always my favorite, too.
Oh happy days, Richard has uploaded again!
Size 10 hook 🪝 with the smallest weight leave the button smacked to pull the line out before setting the hook 😊🎣❤️
Down here in south MS, we call them bream. And they fight like they're 3 times their size... very fun to catch, even the small ones.
I can't seem to catch big ones on live bait, for all the small ones beating them to it. Jigs are about the only way for me to ensure a good mess of eaters.
Thanks for Sharing
I agree Richard bluegills are delish!
Thank you for the blessing.
Nice catch bud
Mr Gene, when do you know when to hook the fish if you can’t see the bottom? I’m a fan and I enjoy watching you catch and explain what you’re doing! Blessings brother!
Nice caught 👌
I had bluegills in an aquarium when I was younger. They can change colors in a few seconds. They'd get real vibrant when I fed 'em. They'd bleach out when I turned the light off.
I'm right there with you brother! Sunfish are my favorite eating fish. Catfish is really, really good. As many other fish are. But nothing else quite matches sunfish for flavor and texture. And those crispy tails and fins are a treat that's hard to beat!
In my humble opinion. It's a real waste to fillet a sunny. Scale them, remove the head and guts, score both sides, dip in butter milk and then roll in two parts seasoned cornmeal and one part flour. Give them a few minutes before putting in the Oil and allow the breading to set up on the fish before dropping in the oil. This way you end up with a lot less breading coming off your fish and burning on the bottom of your fryer or pan. Then deep fry or pan fry whole and enjoy. Scoring the fish allows them to cook faser, get crispier and allows the seasoning to go all the way to the bones. Scoring also allows ease of pulling away large chunks of bone free or virtually bone free, sweet, firm meat. And those crunchy fins are better than dessert.
I find crappy meat bland and mushy. I throw crappy back. Not a fan. Same with black bass. Just can't compare to sunnies. Filleting a sunny is fine for children and picky females. But real men eat their Sunnies whole.
I've used that bottom rig that Richard used to catch catfish and bass. A lot of time the set up Richard uses you can catch multi species. 😉
Thanks Richard and God bless
It's a hope to someday to get to Alabama an catch Mr. GENE fishing an catch some fish with him.
Man I enjoyed watching this I love me some bream
My granddad was a preacher and taught me how to fish. He fished all over the world and his favorite eating fish was bluegill (and bluegill roe) Best, sweetest fish there is. ❤️🫡
RG is THE BEST!
Feels like I'm watching Hank parker,Bill Dance, and jimmy Houston all in one video 🍻
Jimmy Houston is a joke...he never won a single tournament...plus he went on his youTube channel and told everyone to get the covid vaccine...hes a little fool
I sure enjoy your videos
I will always click on Richard videos no matter what !!
Lookin like Michael Geneson with that glove 😂
My freshwater taste preferences: Red drum > Crappie > Bream > Striper > Catfish. Great video as always! God bless anyone reading this message. Ya'll have a great weekend. 🐟🐟🐟
Gaspergou are pretty similar to red drum as far as taste goes.
@@tubergonz right on then I would love them. 👍
Getting ready to fish the Adirondack's NY today. Got my new kayak an we are going to do the dang thing.👊💀
God bless you Richard.
Great video
Iv been bluegill fishing catching tons here in Texas but the catfish always get to it first which I’m not complaining yesterday I got 80+ bluegill hand size and 9 catfish
Legend has it that Richard Gene taught Chuck Norris to fish and beat a Sasquatch to death with a Bream Buster!!!
Best in the business
I went out a couple weeks ago with my dad and we hit the crap out of bluegill with mealworms! I swear by mealworms, bluegill eat them up! Great day out with the old man for sure🤙🏻
You got that Michael Jackson look going on
🤓☕️♥️🙏👍 Richard g really are the fishing machine. God bless you and keep the video coming.
Usually, that's all I ever keep is about a dozen. That's 24 fillets, and I am about the only one who eats fish anyway. Love these bluegill and panfish videos.
Nature's pre-seasoned delights. Unbeatable with some cheese Grits and hot sause.
Another good one brother! Roll Tide Roll! 🐘🅰️🏀🏈
Think about getting a polarized filter for your camera. As usual RGTFM does not disappoint, I'm talkin' 'bout WOOoooooo!
Woo WOOO !! Yes Sir Another Awesome video and those are gonna be some great eats. 🍽️ What is your favorite way to cook them. Do you filet them or cook them whole .. Stay Safe and Keep’em coming..
