I performed this song at a marching contest about 20 years ago. I was a junior high school student at the time. I miss it very much. It's cool to hear it now.
My mother litterly played this when she did marching band. I found tape of it and was wondering what the song name was. Finally found out after a year of wondering
@@sregdor612thankfully i’ve never had to march it, but i wish i could’ve. brutal piece to play even while sitting down, but on show day it would’ve been worth it
We played this song my freshmen year at my old high school as our closer. The field show that year remains one of my favorites. Even after watching all the badass 5A bands perform at the competitions my current school's marching band did this year
HAHA Oh man. This, Aztec Fire and a third song that I can't remember the name of at the moment are bringing back great memories of my first year of HS marching band in 8th grade. (hs band alone was too small) We went onto Area that year. I miss playing the Tenor Sax!
I learned this when i was a Freshman in 1985 when i was playing the alto sax Very difficult when playing it in a marching band. Brings back fond memories. Now im trying to learn the piano version
we are doing this for our closer and it was good because we had a homegame and it sounded good for our first performance and our drum majors calculated it that we have spent over 200 hours practicing this and it had a great turn out and at 2:07 that part we do a park and whale and it was amazing and sounded so good
I played this my first year of marching when I wasn't too good at trombone, I look back on it now and I wish I had the chance to do better because holy moly this slaps
I'm do my first show to this tomorrow and I'm really excited! (I'm in guard) I'll update tomorrow and tell you how it went 😊 Edit: It was so much fun!!!! I hit all my counts and I didn't drop any tosses. I wasn't nervous at all, it was amazing. They were taking action shots, and I think mine looks cool! Edit: oct 9, the season just ended and I'm sad now:(
I remember playing this song, it was so fun to play, at least for drumline, well, except for practically running sideways to the front of the field , back of the field, then front again. And we played this at a faster tempo
The visiting marching band played this at my school's last home game and weirdly enough it was in the senior class's first contest show so they all started singing their parts and dancing Took me way too long to figure out what was happening tho lol
everyone: yeah we played it for highschool. me: yeah I played it in 8th grade!... when you and a couple friends who play different instruments play this while your whole band can't figure out the highschool music
You play pep tunes in High School in the stands at football games because its easy. Its made to be easy, so that you can learn multiple of the same length songs in stands.
I was wondering if anyone can help me. I’m looking for the music as a score or MIDI file, or even recorded albums of the marching band music of the Spanish festival Hogueras 🔥? I’ve been searching for a while now but with no luck. This video was great 👍🏾
I loved this piece but we has a different arrangement it was still cool and the tuba part was harder than this version expect the drum break part it was watered down and brass didn't play that part.
I remember playing this junior year and wondering why no one could get the beat right(I played the tromboner). idk I just looked at it and felt notes in my head and everyone hated it but it all came together on the field and our director told us he felt wind when the first note hit, and we all watched the crowd turn towards us. kinda surreal ngl, also the trombone part at the beginning is a lot bolder and has a bit of dirt to it. think “god is speaking to you.”
Looking at some of the comments below -- WHO would EVER play a Kentonesque arrangement AS A MARCHING BAND CLOSER?!? "Malagueña" (a la Stan Kenton & the Madison Scouts) is a mid-show feature that sets the field on fire!!! Trying THIS as a closer is a RECIPE FOR DISASTER, as MOST players won't have the stamina to do this piece justice after even four minutes of playing ANYTHING preceding this
I performed this song at a marching contest about 20 years ago. I was a junior high school student at the time. I miss it very much. It's cool to hear it now.
When you look back at your old marching band songs, but you forget what "That latin one" was called
Latin closer 😠💀
my exact question after 13 years
Literally what i typed in to find this
cant relate #pit
My mother litterly played this when she did marching band. I found tape of it and was wondering what the song name was. Finally found out after a year of wondering
I did the trombone solo on baritone and won outstanding soloist at a marching contest in high school. Some of my best memories 🥺🥺🥺
Oh that's awesome!
I also did that in 2007 🎉 I loved this song. Fellow trombone soloist! Niiiiice
congrats
played this in 8th grade, It was by far the greatest piece i've had the honor to play.
Pretty amazing for middle school. I played this in high school marching band. One of my favorites.
@@sregdor612thankfully i’ve never had to march it, but i wish i could’ve. brutal piece to play even while sitting down, but on show day it would’ve been worth it

This was one of our bands songs for competition and we won it. I still love this song and the trombone solo.
that's kinda epic - marching?
Time to cry and practice on the field

Jokes on you I'm playing this for my band this year as a freshman
@@kevinbouffard9983 i remember play this in 7th grade crying everyday

This is an easier version than the four minute one, I wish I was one of the soloists for my band tho
My band is playing that and when it changes from 4:4 to 3:4 at 0:28 sounds so amazing I love it.
Wow! I haven't heard this since 2004 when I played it in High school. It brought back memories
brings back freshmen year field show
Me too! We did an different arrangement of this for my freshman halftime show!
Storminnormin me too. Freshman year as well

High school or college?
This was parade music for me
We played this song my freshmen year at my old high school as our closer. The field show that year remains one of my favorites. Even after watching all the badass 5A bands perform at the competitions my current school's marching band did this year
My school is using this for Drum Major auditions, and it's a blast to be learning to conduct
My School used this for Drum Major auditions last school year. It was a very fun time studying, conducting and learning this truly amazing piece.
I remember playing this in marching band in 1989. I played French horn and I loved the part that we had.
No offense, but im just playing this in marching now. Are you in your fifties or smth😅
HAHA Oh man. This, Aztec Fire and a third song that I can't remember the name of at the moment are bringing back great memories of my first year of HS marching band in 8th grade. (hs band alone was too small)
We went onto Area that year. I miss playing the Tenor Sax!
Aztec fire is in the song called Latin closer. And we improvised a bass drum part because the original piece is just so boring
Latin closer is the one you’re thinking of
I used this arrangement with one of my high school bands back in the day. Good to see it's still around and not watered down.
Sorry - this already IS very watered down.
@@usmpiano TRUE
My band is playing this arrangement this year. It lives on :)
Ooh that trombone solo! Wish we could play this

That was AWESOME!!! wish my high school band sounded that good i just hope this years show goes well and that i get the trumpet solo for superman.

I’ve never played this piece before, but I love it. As a freshman on French horn, this part looks stellar
The most epic marching band song I've ever had the privilege of playing.
I hope we get this for next year's show
I remember playing this in my 7th grade spring concert.
7TH GRADE!?? Bestie I’m playing this in high school
We played that at the invitational coast at Gaither hs
It was amazing.

I'm in color guard and the band is doing this song while we are all in Disney World over spring break.
Lorelei Dzomba well then we were there with you in Disney! Our color guard and band went too!
We might play this for my school's show next year and my boyfriend lives for that trombone solo😂 he says he HAS to play it
As I play flute under the solo😂
+Jessica Jourden I'm the first trombone in my band, my teacher gave me the music and when I saw the solo I nearly crapped my pants, now I love it 😂😂
The trombone solo is flavorful
I don't blame him, I would probably switch from baritone to trombone for a whole show to play that solo if our band ever plays this.
