measure 24: trombones get melody for a moment and... wait. whats that? could it be? Melophones play it with them? Just like in every piece of music ever? who could have forseen this?
It's simply for layering and "beefiness". Mellophones are just as neglected by the melody. Mellophones either receive the harmony, counter-melody or they double the second/trumpets. I'd a agree that Low Brass and Mellophones are neglected.

Does anyone else think at the part of this song where is goes, “It’s the final countdown”, feels weak. There’s all this build up for what we hope to be an explosive part of the song but we are then disappointed when it’s quiet and the trumpets hop back in before the notes are even over. Just a thought. Also team trumpet. 🎺

Joshua Hofman As a clarinet, playing that an octave higher is np. First clarniets in my band gets slightly higher notes than your C and we even got them above staff C and D in my show this year.
But the octave really doesn't matter, if it needed to be played higher, they would have wrote it higher, it's like this because it sounded best like this.
I love challenging myself with first trumpet parts as i was the only person to have to restart because of a injury, ans get first trumpet spot and this is definitely next on my list of songs
we can all agree if not for my unknown friends in percussion, the band wouldn't know what the hell they're doing. we're the tempo for a majority of songs played

So I play flute in a matching band, it's really fun, but we only have flutes, marimbas, mallets, xylophones, snares, multi tenors and a quite different arrangement. This sounds also very good, but we wouldn't be able to play this. We can play the whole melody with 3 flutes, and it makes so much fun to play, especially when I play the solo part (that's like 10 extra notes)
