    Awesime work :) I have a problem, I did everything you and everything works except "render" window. Nothing is on render window, it's blank. Can you help me?

      First, double check that you've added the Camera COMP and the Light COMP to the network. Also make sure you've set up the Phong MAT correctly and assigned it to the geo1 COMP. Without these components, the output won't work correctly.
      If that doesn't solve it, double check whether or not you've renamed the Camera COMP to something other than the default "cam1". In its default state, the Render TOP is looking for a Camera COMP named cam1, and won't function correctly unless you either update the Camera(s) parameter to the new name of the Camera COMP or set the Camera COMP's name back to cam1.
      Hope that helps!

    Question: how did u have a repeating kinect 'video' playing when you brought in the kinect top? That seems really useful for designing!!

    • @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ
      @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup! Crystal is using Kinect Studio 2.0 application that comes with the Kinect 2.0 SDK (or the runtime, I can't remember off the top of my head) but it lets you record full data from the sensor into their app and then play it back on loop. It's pretty awesome and for all other applications seeing the data it actually looks like a live Kinect device which is perfect for both development and installations.

    Very cool effect :) I have the problem, that - using a movie file in - the movie is scaled during the playing process. I tried many things, but couldn't fix it. Do you have an idea, what could cause this? Could it be one of the noises, which scales the size of the movie? Thanks for your work and answering (hopefully) :)

    • @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ
      @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's possible that it could be the Noise TOPs or the Ramp TOP, but also note that Crystal is using a Fit TOP here to scale the size of the video input from the Kinect. If you've added that to your project with the same settings, it might impact the scale of the video as well. Hope that helps!

    Super cool. Could you do that with movie file in instead of Kinect?

    • @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ
      @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yup you could totally use any other kind of movie file that is a silhouette or can be turned into a silhouette using the Threshold TOP. As long as you have a white texture on an alpha 0 background then I think you should be good.

    Hi, I tried making this but it doesn't allow me to add the Kinect TOP, is it because I'm using the non-commercial one? Or what else could it be? Thanks!

    • @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ
      @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm do you happen to be on macOS? On macOS the Kinect operators don't work because they're a Windows only feature.

      hey Valentina. did you get yours to work? I'm on windows, running 088 (not 0.99 because it wouldnt work on my laptop) and with Kinect 2.0, and running into the same issue.

    hey how are you? I can not edit correctly the parameter translate of noise, a messaje of error appears when i put on the comand. Do you know what can I do?

    • @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ
      @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! The parameter expression should read "absTime.seconds * 0.05" (without the double quotes). I would start by double checking that you've got the correct spelling and the T in absTime capitalized, because the expression won't work otherwise. Hope that helps :)

      Do you see Convert SOP in your list of SOPs? It should be there as it's not a new feature. Would be very strange if it's not there. It doesn't need any licensing. What build version of TouchDesigner are you using?

    • @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ
      @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndreaShotGun38 hmm that's strange. Is your timeline paused maybe? It should at least pass through the same geometry if you don't select any of the options on it. What are you experiencing? Is the viewer fully blank?

      @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Make sure that the Noise TOPs that you started the project with are set to *32bit Float RGBA* . If they're set to 32bit float Mono or 32bit float Mono + Alpha, you'll only get black and white output. Hope that helps!

    is there a way to make this work with a mac built-in webcam instead of a kinect?

    • @Shuttered
      @Shuttered 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      or any webcam for that matter

    • @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ
      @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Shuttered You could use other cameras, but you'd need to find a way to get towards a clean silhouette. So if you have good lighting you could use something like a Threshold TOP to get rid of the dark pixels (things that aren't the person). You could also use RTX background subtraction to isolate the person and then you'd have a pretty clean silhouette as well. Do you have an RTX system?

    • @Shuttered
      @Shuttered 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ I managed to use my built-it in mac camera with the threshold TOP however, i could not get the particles to move. I also for some reason could not get the render node to work? I would not see anything on the node when I added it in. However, i still got an output of the camera visuals overtop the background

    You dont have to use a kinect for this, you can do this with a video using movie in. Clearly the kinect is only looping a video in this tutorial.

    • @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ
      @TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ  ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure, you can use any TOP texture - it really depends on what you’re trying to use the effect for. The Kinect makes it very easy to get an outline of the user via the Player Index texture, which is great if you’re looking to use this as a realtime effect applied to a camera feed. Although in this case we're using Kinect Studio to play back a recording (which makes it easier for tutorial recording purposes) the network can be used with the live Kinect feed without modification.
