Law enforcement did changed through the years when i was in the police force. I had a tattoo but it was on my left upper arm which is a Jesus cross but i covered them. I left in 2019 when i sprained my ankle. I was a no nonsense cop.
I retired in ‘97 after 30 years and we could not get hired if our tattoos showed above the collar or below the sleeve of a short sleeve uniform shirt (I don’t have any tatts). IMHO today’s cops look sloppy wearing polo shirts, jeans, and beards. Our uniforms had sharp creases, our leather was shined, were clean shaven save a trim mustache, and we stood weekly inspections. A sharp appearance commands respect. I readily admit to being old (late 70s) and maybe out of touch, but my two cents anyway.
Yes, a sharp appearance does command respect! I value your opinions and insight! I have the best conversations with our "seasoned" staff and recaptured officers. They have literally seen it all and I am here to learn from them. 💙
What do you think of obese (and often clumsy) police officers? In the olden days, did you not have to pass regular fitness reports? Thank you for your service to the community.
No, I don't believe Police should have tattoos. Most people don't understand that tatts are innately criminalistic, marks to recognize dangerous people, law enforcement should never have marks on them or, at least, have their own markings.
@DontBeStoopid "Stuck"? No, I just recognize things for what they originally were and the purpose for what they were created in the first place. Tats are good ways for criminals to recognize each other, this is all common knowledge at this point.
If the officers want tattoos, let them have them!!!
Yes, thanks for sharing! 💙
If a police officer wants a tattoo, then let them get them. As long as its not offensive, then it should be fine
Agreed! Thanks for sharing! 💙

Sounds like you were still hired with your tattoos but just had them covered. Thank you for your service and for watching! 💙
I like tattoos but I would agree avoid face hands not such a big deal though, I have tattoos but mine are covered by my shirt.
I like tattoos as well! And that's good they are covered with a shirt 💙
You could do a video on piercings! I think that could be cool. I also think it’s a good thing for self expression especially with tattoos.
Great idea! 💙

You need to become a criminal.
Tatoo not covered by a t shirt should exclude you from a Police job.
Interesting viewpoint!
No, they shouldn't. Protocol and decorum are extinct. Officers look like the perpetrators these days.
