    I take 6 mgs. of regular-release with 12 ounces of pure water and in 30
    minutes am out like a chump up against Mohammed Ali in his prime.
    Sent some to a smart, ambitious

    For whatever reason, melatonin actually makes my anxiety worse. I used it for a long time until I got anxiety and then it started to make it worse. I just hate the feeling of being under the influence of anything anymore and it makes me feel trapped and weird.

    The pituitary gland regulates several hormones, including the hormone responsible for growth, while the pineal gland only regulates one: melatonin. Research suggests that the pineal gland actually affects the behavior and function of the pituitary gland by drowning it with melatonin. This can occur to a child when trauma occurs to them and it affects them in many ways. This is what happened to me. I'm 44 and people think I'm in my 20's.

    These videos are very well done and professional. I particularly appreciate the evidence-based approach. I'm not certain a strong case was made here for the use of melatonin for anxiety. We don't necessarily have a causative relationship. Improved sleep in a highly stressed person (a patient with breast cancer or pre-surgical patient) may be what's producing the results. Improved anxiety could be secondary to getting better quality and quantity of sleep. And, as you said, anxiety is complex and has lots of potential causes. Melatonin may or may not actually address what is driving any one specific patient's symptoms. I think promoting general good health and healthy behaviors is always a good idea. Improving sleep is definitely part of that. As you said, patients should talk to their own doctor who knows them and their specific health status before self-treating with supplements.
    Thank you for the well-researched video.

    • @FriendlyPharmacy5
      @FriendlyPharmacy5  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the comment. I made the video with this title as I had observed that there seemed to be some confusion about whether or not melatonin could be used for anxiety. It is definitely complex and I always prefer non-drug or even non-supplement measures first - such as practicing good sleep hygiene and also getting a professional assessment as often these issues can be quite complex.
      Thank you for your kind words and insights as well.

      Your msg is dangerous and so are benzodiazapines. I was on them from 18 to 29 I developed many chronic health problems related to interposed withdrawal. I didn't know how physically dependant the body becomes to them and asked my doctor to take me off many times, his reply you'll be on them for life. So I decided to throw them out and the next day I was in the er convulsing. So I got a new doctor and weaned off of them over a period of 8 months. I went from 195lbs to 135lbs I was sleeping 2 hrs if I was lucky for the last 6 months of withdrawal I couldn't leave my house bc the anxiety was so bad I thought daily about taking my own life bc the withdrawal was so bad. Doctors told me I needed to quit trying to withdrawal from them and just stay on them for life bc the withdrawal was so hard on my body. Needless to say I didn't listen and I've been free from them for 2 years and have way less anxiety then when I was on them. I wasn't even given them for anxiety but for restless leg syndrome and eventually they caused me anxiety bc of the interposed withdrawal and my bodies dependency to them. You may thibk its a miracle pill now like everyone does in the beginning but once on them for years your life will start to spiral out of control. I wish you the best and if you can get off the poison as soon as possible if you aren't already physically dependent. Doctors that are still prescribing this drug for daily use should be jailed. Fda strictly states not meant for daily use 2 weeks max.
