Turn White into Any Color in Photoshop (Even Black!)

  • Using the Basic Concepts of Blend Modes, Easily Change White into Any Color Including Black in Photoshop! Create realistic colors by combining the power of Blend-If coupled with Adjustment Layers and Blend Modes!
    In this tutorial, we will be using Solid Color Fill Layers along with Multiply Blend Mode to project color on the white object. Then, using Curves and Blend-If, we will learn how to add dimension and depth to make the object look natural and realistic.

    Adobe should make a plugin with Unmesh siting in the Photoshop UI, and helping us out with whatever we want. Awesome tutorial man!

    Good tecqnique to teach. Finally, I'm not tired at the end of the video :) You explain the blend mode, and also explain the math. So we "learn" not only memorize... You don't shout, do interesting movements... So good to watch a calm "teacher"... Thanks a lot...

      I'm curious where he learned it. Using blend modes is advanced enough. To use it as an adjustment with curves and masks is not something you learn by chance. This guy is astounding

Video was exactly what i needed, and the amazing editing helped a lot with my attention problems, normally anytime someone opens a menu id have to go back 3 times to see what they pressed, but the way you made everything else darker and showed exactly what you were doing made it so much clearer!

    Love your tutorials! Thank you! I have an additional challenge though, I'm trying to change plain white cabinets to mid grey and also expresso (2 different colors). They do have some grooves in them that add a little depth, but my problem is that I'm not getting enough contrast and thus even with the curves, they still look a bit fake. Any other suggestions? Thank you in advance!

    Great use of technique as always! I'm curious why you grouped the layers and applied the mask, rather than use the clipping mask option on your adjustment layers. Wouldn't that achieve the same goal?

      I have not done this but by looking at this technique, i can say this will do the job, same procedure but select black things & set solid color layer blending mode to "screen” instead of "multiply."

    3 layers + curves + grouping + underlying layer.. lmao such a time waste and you're complicating yourself without a reason
    I can do this with only 1 layer and 1 level adjustment, that's it.
