The body type series has helped me to accept my body so much. Through the eras there was always this pressure to be something to be considered attractive... to be more slender or to be more curvy. Realising that I’m a soft classic helped me understand my body so much more. It also made me realise I’ve been given the perfect body for exactly who i am. Thank you Aly, we missed you, looking forward to the next video.
Same! The previous model I was using, the inverted triangles and pears and houglasses shapes can't even compare to this, which makes way more sense to me. It made me accept myself for who I am 😄
Same here! It’s incredible how accurate this system is... Forget that “Pear, Hourglass, Apple, Inverted Triangle etc” crap, it always used to steer me into confusion and bad style choices. Kibbe’s system is so miraculously accurate and so much more realistic. I pity anyone who still compares their body to an Apple and never considers individual bone structure and the way flesh sits on those bones! Same goes for makeup and face shapes. I never pay attention to “oval, circle, square, heart, diamond, etc” classifications anymore!
I have watched all of the ally arts videos about styling a soft classic but I was wondering if you have any styling techniques or more points for yourself that help a lot if you could share them with you me or anyone could share them with me. cuz I'm a soft classic thanks.
I love that!! And same, I felt awkward to be tall and curvy and not fit in cute teenage clothes without starving myself. Now when I dress soft dramatic I always get compliments and I feel like I’m meant to be the way I am 💕❤️ every body has beauty that suits them thanks to kibbe and alyart 🙏
11:48 I want to add that this is the "Teddy boy" style, that started around 1957 and by 1962 was already over. Its important to divide the three eras in the 60s: The Jackies (1960-63, was just an extension of the 50s and had the same makeup) the Mod (1964-66, had the twiggy look) and the nostalgia-nouveau(1967-1970, which people usually mistake by "hippie" but there was never a "hippie" fashion (to claim that was is to claim that the movement had a fashion industry behind, and that is far from truth, LOL). It makes a lot easier for people who never seen 60s fashion to understand. :) Oh, and the mod fashion was more about looking like a child, be it boy or girl. It was a context where boomers blamed parents for the wars and everything wrong with the world, and so was born the "Youthquake" movement. =D Yes, I am obssessed with the 60s =P
Super interesting! I was trying to find more information about the nostalgia-nouveau trend you mentioned but I got a bit lost on the internet :p. Do you maybe have a tip on where I could find information/examples of that :)?
yess everything that i was thinking. i would recommend the Ultimate Fashion History on yt to anyone who wants to learn! its very very extensive AND fun. i feel like Aly forgot in her research for this video to think of a decade not as one consistent thing but as a constantly changing one where the beginning is a continuation of the previous decade and the end is the start for another. fashion is not dictated by our calendars anyway, really.
gal strauss I don’t think she was going through a history of trends through the decades... just if you looked to the past this is what works for your body type. Thank you for the body type series. I always felt like I looked weird as heck in the things that I thought I would look good in! I’d see myself in a photo and be confused. But now I see why. I would wear bootcut jeans, a fitted casual t-shirt, sneakers... wash and go casual wavy hair, only mascara... etc. and I am a ROMANTIC body type. Ahhh! Amazing and scientific as always! It's uncanny, I was just compiling a look book of iconic Soft Natural makeup styles throughout the decades (1950s to now) and I was just thinking how much I liked the early 70s! It's very interesting, if you look at the Soft Natural women who looked good, their style tends to either be behind or ahead of the curve, because they're sticking to the lines and styles that suit them e.g. Jane Fonda looked very similar in the 60s and 70s because she found that Soft Natural style and stuck with it.
At this point I just click on your video because I just LOVE the way you sound. The way you talk. Your voice/accent/tone/etc. Even when it's not relevant to my body type or skin tone or temperature or contrast or relevant to what I wanna learn for my looks specifically.

I love it! Can't wait for the seventies! This helps me understand it so much better! I want to dress more 70's and 60's style, but I am romantic-soft classic, and I always feel like these styles would not be too flattering. Do you have some tips maybe for my case?
MJBpeace I’d look at what Joan in Mad Men did as the series went on-she began dressing very 50s because it works so well for her curvy body type but as the show went on she began dressing with the new trends -especially colors and fabrics of the time but still kept the silhouette well tailored for her body

CAN'T WAIT FOR PART TWO!! Love you Aly c:
I clicked so fast. You do always such a quality content and it is so interesting to watch and I wished you would upload more and faster but I now quality needs time. ;-)
I love it! Can't wait for the seventies! This helps me understand it so much better! I want to dress more 70's and 60's style, but I am romantic-soft classic, and I always feel like these styles would not be too flattering. Do you have some tips maybe for my case?
MJBpeace I’d look at what Joan in Mad Men did as the series went on-she began dressing very 50s because it works so well for her curvy body type but as the show went on she began dressing with the new trends -especially colors and fabrics of the time but still kept the silhouette well tailored for her body
ughh i can't wait for part 2! your videos are keeping me entertained through quarantine :)

I'm a bit sad you left out hippie, psychedelic fashion (no, it's not 70s, hippie is late 60s). 😭
Deb Less would you say a lot of that was flamboyant gamine?
YES I love this, and it's finally validating my (soft dramatic) tendency toward 60s hairstyles
Love this video topic, and you look so gorgeous!
