    Just added this to the description box as a note for when you're heading back out of Chofu, but in case it's missed I'll put it here too.
    Chofu station's platforms are on different levels which can be a bit confusing. Always check the information signs carefully before heading to a platform/boarding a train. If in doubt, ask a stationmaster at the ticket gate first😊

    I can’t tell you how much enjoyment I get from your commentary. Some of my happiest memories of my trips to Japan were the flea markets. I scored some great personal finds but how I wish I really understood what I was looking at way back then. Thank you!

    Another great video, thank you. I wonder why you don't have more subscribers as you have a good eye, give valuable information and your filming is really good. I think I'll recommend your videos to some of the US resellers (not on my subscription list) who are clueless when it comes to Japanese antiques and collectables. I rarely watch them as they drive me crazy when they reach over an amazing Japanese item and pick up an object that is 'fun or cute'. I love old Japanese photographs and purchased several beautiful albums at Oi.

      Thank you as always Heather! That's very kind of you🥰The channel is super new, only started this January with not that many videos published (takes about 30hrs to edit so haven't been able to post as consistently as I'd like). I also watch reseller videos from other countries and stop and pause the video when I spot a Japanese treasure! Old photographs are such a joy to find, especially in our increasingly digital age😊

    Camden Market is unrecognisable, it’s filled with lots of London tourist shops, hardly any antiques, such a shame I miss it so much 😮 We went to Tokyo last year! What a wonderful place, with wonderful people!!! I can’t wait to go back

Lived within walking distance some 20 years ago so expected some change, but sounds like the character of the place has been lost😞Thank you for letting me know Michelle! @@tokyotique The antique market is still there in the Stables & the stall where you can buy those vintage postcards. Got some in my visit last December. But @michellebelden1867 is right, there are so many touristy stalls selling the same tatt, just bypass them to get to the good stuff 🤗

    So many treasures! What a wide range of interesting things. I learned a lot too. The glass plate negative and photo are amazing. I agree the glass plate needs light. The IKEA frame is a good solution. I really liked the papier-mache things. Particularly the yomeiri ningyo. What was the square wood box/container with a crank or handle at 6:29? Do you know? I love the Showa era aluminum bento boxes. I collect bento boxes. I also thought the lock with the prawn on it was pretty interesting. Were those animation cels at 14:49? I didn’t recognize the character but it looked like anime. The ukiyo-e ehon may be my favorite. 😊 thanks for a great video! ❤

    • @tokyotique
      @tokyotique  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Jenny! Thank you so much for watching the video and all the items so closely!😍Hadn't seen anything similar to the square wood box with handle before, so did a Google Search. It's an old-school measuring tape! You may have noticed there was a hole in the side? A piece of rope comes out of that that which was used to make the measurements😊You're correct about the pictures being animation cels. I'm not sure from which anime either. I'll have to let the ukiyo-e ehon seller know! He'll be super happy to hear it was your favourite in the video!🥰

    Similar aluminum bento boxes where used in Sweden as lunch boxes. They where put in a kind of oven that was on lower temperature in the morning and then they where warm by lunchtime.

    Oh no! So many competing markets on Sun Nov 10 when I’ll be in Tokyo. Wonder if I can make it to this one at Fudaten Shrine AND the big one at Tokyo Intl Forum on same day. I think there’s also one at Tomioka Hachiman Shrine too. I’ll be busy but very happy! Love love love the drumming ceremony, esp. since it featured women percussionists. Is that unusual? What a great and joyful event. Once again, thanks for sharing your wonderful vlogs. I learn so much.❤

    • @tokyotique
      @tokyotique  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Nancy! Fudaten is from 7am-3pm, Oedo (Intl Forum) is from 9am-4pm (officially, but some stalls start packing around 1-2pm). Are you an early riser? If so, perhaps Fudaten first for a peaceful morning, then onto Oedo...the latter is always crowded and although a beautiful market, definitely caters more for tourists, both from abroad and domestic.
      Alternatively, you could hit Oedo at 9am, leave at 11am and arrive Chofu/Fudaten around 12pm. Again, some stalls there may start packing up from 1pm, but it's a much smaller market and could be a nice palate cleanser after all the humans at Oedo😊If you're a walker, then Jindaiji Temple is about another 20min walk from there. You could do that after and enjoy one of their many soba noodle shops for a late lunch.
      For transfer between the two, could be easier to use Otemachi station instead of Yurakucho (this is for the Intl Forum), then you only need to use 2 trains. Marunouchi line (Metro) and the Keio Line (change at Shinjuku station).
      This'll make you feel better...Tomioka antique market is NOT operating for all of November✨
      Thank you so much for your support from the channel's humble beginnings. I always truly appreciate your heartfelt comments🥰Hope you have a marvelous time here Nancy!❤️

    Hi. I love your videos. You come over as such a lovely person. We’re going to be I. Tokyo (from Scotland) from Sunday 3rd to Monday 11th November. We always go to the Oedo market, but are there any others you would recommend? I think we miss the you’re a few. Thank you. Ali

      @tokyotique  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment. This market is held on the second Sunday of the month…so while you’re here (Nov 10)!! It’s a much more cozy experience than Oedo, less stalls (around 50) and not touristy.
      Another small market that will be operating while you’re in Tokyo is Sugamo Flea, on Mon 11/4. I’m fond of this one too.
      There are a couple links in the description box of all videos that list markets in Tokyo which you can check against the dates you’re here.
      Hope that helps and that the weather is good while you’re here!☀️

      Hi Kathy! Thank you so much for watching as always😍The reason why I don’t advertise my Mercari Japan account on here because it’s not only focused on Japanese antiques and vintage - I sell everything and anything on there I’m including second-hand items my family no longer need😊Most of the recent Japanese vintage I’m picking up is going in the international shop (website almost done). Was there something specific that you’d like to purchase? I think we’re connected on Instagram maybe? If so we can chat there. Thank you so much for inquiring!🥰
