      The Yucatan peninsula is nice for it's beach towns, but it's not as Mexican as the heart of Mexico where the central Zocalas rule and where historic churches prevail. The Mex. culture assures lots of activities - often, free activities that can be fun for all.

    Hi guys, Im 41 born in Dallas parents from Jalisco, fluent in spanish, we have decided to retire early and have been reading up and watching tons of videos on where to move to, Merida and Guanajuato are top on my list

      Update! Merida is too hot so rethinking that relocation plan. I love everything about Merida sans the heat! I am concerned about costs associated with that heat. I have not been so I do not have any references other than you tubers.

    Hey Fam!
    Y’all left out Puerto Vallarta!
    Locals are very friendly, food is extremely cheap, varied and plentiful, every place is walkable, mountains on one side and Banderas Bay/Ocean on the other (both are separated by a mile or so from each other) and average cost of living can be from 700 to 1500 USD for quality accommodations. Hell, we’re here now and LOVING IT!!!! It’s also considered one of the safest cities in Mexico and after being here for the past month and a half, we can easily testify to that!
    ……I think after y’all do some more traveling overseas within the next year or so, that “forever home” you two keep talking about will be right back here in Mexico!😂 It just offers too much of anything and everything a couple or a single person could want….just my 2 cents😎

    You two are a wonderful mix of class and sass...love your style --- don't change it. One thing I would ask you to change is the mistranslated Spanish captions of some of the places you feature. For example. it's Merida not Marita and there are others you might want to double-check the Spanish spelling of. Other than that, your great info is very well presented with fun-to-watch clips of what you're focusing on. The monthly cost of living comparisons of each area are very useful and accurately reflect the research I've done recently in anticipation of moving to Pacific Mexico permanently later this year. I've been focused on Pacific Mexico between Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta because I have visited those areas and was a liveaboard sailor for many years but your video has given me some other boating-related ideas (such as Lake Chapala and Ajijic). I'm looking forward to your future posts . (p.s. Yes, it's my real name.)

      Generally, income for Mexico is much lower than in the USA. You can live well most places for two to three thousand per month - this is a range that works anywhere in Mexico!! Remember: Mexicans per capita income can be 9-10K/yr., perhaps, so 2K/mo. should be enough to live well. I'd prefer Guanajuato over San Miguel de Allende, but these are both attractive places with lots of expats. I also like Huatulco in Oaxaca for a coastal choice and Oaxaca is more economical, too.

    I remember when Mazatlan and Acapulco were hot spots for Hollywood stars and Many Millionaires this was between the 1940's and 1960's Puerto Vallarta also got some fame but more less towards the end of the 1960's and became popular in the 1970's .No one talks much about Acapulco nowadays .( Cartels) As far as Ajijic goes you can find many I mean many low priced places in different towns around the lake ,In the price range of $250'00 USD to $500.00 USD .Also around the city of Lake Chapala not far from Ajijic you can find rental prices for $300.00 USD and lower and also in San Antonio town not far from Ajijic .Los Cabos is expensive but you can get many 1 and 2 bedroom apartments for around $480.00 USD .I think many of the prices you gave are around popular expat areas ,because all these areas that you named are all affordable .Yes you can pay $2000.00 USD for a place in Los Cabos or Ajijic or anywhere in Mexico ,but then you just drive or walk 15 minutes over and the price now instead of being $2000.00 USD per month now is only $425.00 USD per Month.

And what about if you have a car payment, insurance for your vehicle, your cell phone service min. $75 .00 a month food gasoline for your car etc, ETC ETC, you're constantly under lots of stress and may get seek if you don't take it easy. Congratulations again ! can't wait for my retirement 4 more years hopefully I'll see you there. 😂😂😂😂👌

      Los Cabos 2k/ mo. but safe.
      Playa del Carmen is 1.5 hrs from the airport but it also has everything you mentioned 1200/ mo....I'm sure there are more that we just don't know about. But off of the top of my head these came to mind. Happy hunting!

    And for the record also to all of you from the US or Canada and don't speak Spanish........................don't forget your best friend and that is your IPHONE OR SMART PHONE and have it loaded with that translatior app, so you can have that to help you to order your tacos and cervezas and ok everything......................it's so easy. Just watch how those people do it who are on that show 90 day fiance. They keep using that translatior all the time it's so easy. Many expats move to ok where the rest of the expats are because they don't speak Spanish so move where the natives are and use your phone..............very simple.

    Does your cost of living include rent?? If so I disagree with your cost of living for many of the locations you listed. For example, there are some low-cost housing in the Lake Chapala area, but very few, and they are usually snapped up in a hurry. Yes, Real Estate taxes are low but the cost to buy in the Lake Chapala area is very high, even for none major cities in the USA. Also, modern rentals in all coastal areas would ruin your cost of living figures. But I agree with all of the figures if rent is not included. I do love the informative style of this episode and the presentation style. Well done.

    • @TheYarbros
      @TheYarbros  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for watching and yes, the costs include rental costs. We went to Lake Chapala viewed a newly built home and went through their rentals and our costs are in line with what we saw.... Paying gringo prices are always an option but shopping around helps. Real estate in Lake Chapala is in high demand so yes its on the high side but I didn't find it to be unreasonablei. We saw a nice new build with lake views in a great location for 220K (th-cam.com/video/kt2V7HGscmE/w-d-xo.html) which I think is pretty reasonable. Thanks for watching once again!

      Thanks for rocking w/ us but honestly Guadalajara has been the most expensive for us. We are heading to Europe late next year and we are anticipating some.... increased costs of living but our research is showing less than what we are paying now... it seems the closer we are to the states the more we are paying for the lifestyle we like....its all subjective though. You can live well in MX for much less than we spend.
