I call these stopper plates but the formal name is needle stoppers. I purchased mine 9mm and 6.5mm ones from Kriskrafter.com. For the standard bed (4.5 mm), they come as part of the garter bar set. These can be found on ebay also. Thanks for watching!
This is great, thank you. How can I do the equivalent crochet edging at the *end* of my piece of knitting, so casting off with a wider band of crochet, doing it all on the machine like this?
@@TwistedYarns Thank you, great! I guess this isn't a very stretchy edge? (I haven't done it by hand; I tried it on my machine and just got a double-thickness/dense stockinette edge or somesuch, weirdly, I'll have to try again.)
If you got an edge that looks like a thick stockinette, most likely you did the latching on the purlside of the knitting. You need to do the latching between the knitting and the needlebed when you do additional rows.
@@TwistedYarnsOh yes, I see what I did wrong, I latched repeatedly on the knitside instead of switching inwards to the purlside. Thank you! Also, is it a non-stretchy finish? Better for cardigan edges, say, than for headbands? I haven't done a great deal of things in handknitting, so don't know all the basics. Thanks so much.
I got a lk150 knitting machine about 2 years ago....I am going to sell it because I kept knitting with the wrong size yarn(I just ) I want to get a standard guage becouse I use 4 ply yarn, which is a standard guage knitting machine ,NOT a mid guage. I would like to get a standard guage and kept getting dropped stiches..... Plus, thanks for the tip on the crochet edge on the project!!
I got a bulky gauge machine in 2020 and I haven't made much progress because of the gauge. When you say standard Gauge, what type of yard are you using? If I want to use fingering and sport weight yarn, do I get a standard gauge machine?
@@matthewhofele3771worsted weight I would get a 8mm or 9mm machine, which is labeled as chunky or bulky, a standard gauge works best with fingering, lace weight and sport weight or numbers 0,1,2 sometimes if it’s a very light 3 weight yarn.
@@loriemoore3020yes I would get a standard gauge machine, your bulky works best with weight 3,4 and some size 5 depending on the yarn. I have a standard but ended up buying a chunky because I wasn’t able to use most of the commercial available yarns I already had in my standard gauge.

This was filmed during an online live demonstration. This was representative of a straight sleeve and you would take the sleeve off on waste yarn so that you could rehang it and join on the machine later.
Actually, When I read your comment, I had to watch the video again to see where I used the waste yarn! LOL! As you figured out already, it just depends on what you are doing or trying to do at the time.
@@TwistedYarns I watched alot videos before buying the 150 knitting machine so I'd have a general idea ware to start but still playing around figuring things out. I think tonight I might be in luck lol
That is beautiful! Going to try this straight away 😊
Let me know how it goes for you!
I tried this yesterday. What a game-changer!!! THANKS!!!
That's exactly how I felt when I figured it out! So easy and effective!
Excellent video, thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for this... so helpful
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful.
Thanks so much. This tutorial helpedme a lot❤
You’re welcome 😊
Hi. This is just amazing. I couldn't quite understand the name of the stopper plate you used. Could you tell me please . Many thanks Regards Liz.

This is beautiful. Can you do the same for casting off? I am thinking about when making baby blankets so that the ends match.
Yes! It makes a very nice finishing edge also. I'll be doing more with this edging soon so keep watching!
Thankyou. I will check that out.
Thanks!
Love this! Where can I buy one of these garter plates? Having trouble finding them online. Are they called something else?

Tat's a great question! I've been working on a follow-up video for that topic! Coming soon!

Nice edging! Is it “roll proof”? It seems to be, but I wasn’t sure…
Yes, it is roll- proof. Plus you can make it as wide as you like.

I am asking If I should get a standard guage machine becouse I use 4 ply or worsted wight yarn

A standard gauge machine handles 2/24,, fingering or baby well. It is impossible to use worsted weight yarn. Sport is possible.
Thank you!
When I figured this out, I just could not believe how easy it is to do...and fast. I am still amazed.
Is there a way to create something similar at the end of the knitted piece?
I'm working on figuring that out and will have another video soon!
Hi
Will this work on a standard gauge machine ?
Absolutely!
Thank you, I thought I might never use my garter bar, but now it is by my machine ready to give your cast on a go 😊

Where can I buy this 'stopper from" (I am using a Singer SK120 bulky 8 machine
I'm not sure about the size for a Singer but Kriskrafter.com sells garter bars and needle stoppers in various sizes.
which type of yarn you use in this project???
This was "I Love this yarn" worsted weight acrylic yarn by Hobby Lobby. This is a 4-ply worsted weight similar to an Aran yarn.
whats the reson for the waste yarn I ma newbie?
