Hey, were the Yakata Teldrin Octuple-Barreled 4.2-Inch High-Impact Swivel Gun Turrets inspired by the eight barreled pom-pom guns used by the British in WW2? Johnny Johnson just released a video on the pom-pom and I was curious.
Just finished this on Nebula it was great!
I hope one day we have complete fleet lineups for the Union and the Assembly. Their design languages are both so compelling.
This comment has made my day.
After that I would like to see the Alien ships next
I am waiting to see the First rate, we already got the second rate. I am also wishing to see Union capital ships too, they should have a few.
The combat record of the Indria class is just so ubiquitous... and mendacious and polyglotal. With a couple of donkey balls.
"..."
"Affirmative. Continue on."
Trust me, the real code is donkey balls 😂
Just realized all the hidden little details of the ships in this video. Different battles being portrayed, for example, since about three minutes in the Lyrion Point is getting absolutely crushed by the Union Militia at the battle of Addicus.
Was that the battle of the Greenhouse at the end????
AMAL-KARAH!
Looks like it, all ships represented there were there.
We eating good on lore today!
After so many series involving the shining supertech vessels crewed by the best and brightest people of their legacied spaceforces, it's a refreshing thing to read about a scrappy kitbash of a raiding craft used by a underdog militia for a change and rendered so well. Well done! And certainly illustrates the comparative sizes between the Union and Frontier craft too in the video. Quite a engine-to-ship ratio difference!
Please do more ship breakdowns from the soujorn it’s too good
I would love to see the Outrider fully animated
You know, the CDF has beautiful ship design, mighty impressive vessels, lineage and tradition that makes them an exemplary force... but hot damn, the more I see of the Frontier Union's ships the more I start to not just love, but even prefer them. Scraped together but built to be agile, cheap to repair and relying on unconventional tactics? Yes please, that is *exactly* the kind of sci-fi military force I adore! Would love to see more ship breakdowns of the Union, keep up the good work!
I just had to comment this because others haven’t said this from what I’ve seen. Sam Redferns score he composed is INCREDIBLE. It’s some of the best score for a sci-fi property in a long time. I wish the comments weren’t turned off on his videos so I could show my appreciation there. It’s on pair with the stuff John Williams put out throughout his career.
The song that plays when the PDC starts spitting out rounds towards the incoming torpedo
“Clear for action” is just incredible.
I highly recommend any commenters seeing this to go over to Sam’s channel and listen to the whole thing.
I love how both Assembly and Union ships have distinct design languages and both are lore driven.
I absolutely love the design language of Union and Pirate ships and their aggressive usage. I especially love the wicked witch, using radiators to give it “wings” which makes it look like a warbird from Star Trek all the while it’s a heavily modified merchantman which was common during the golden age of piracy. The only thing I think that could be added to it is a jury rigged spinal mount rail gun. That would be terrifying for any victim of piracy and if they faced any first or second rates it would deal a ton of damage. It would also make it unique for the Sojourn and add more to the aggressiveness and out of the box thinking of the pirates of the frontier and the Union.
Also the star dancer imo would’ve made much more sense for the Union. Not only does it fit into their design language but it also fits their combat style of fast hit and run tactics.
The tactics shown with attacking the "top" and "bottom" of a ship and showing off how nibble the craft is were amazing! Keep up the good work!
Okay, out of all the ships I've seen from the Sojourn so far, this is the one I'd most like to own.
It’s literlly a Soviet tank equivalent for space ship. Cheap, under everything, not friendly for the crew and effective only bc of their numbers…
Why?
@@EverydayNormieMadafacka Because it's the style I like most. Love those big 'ol pontoons.
@@Duskboundfair enough.
Insert that top gear clip “it’s good it’s really good but I like this”
@@EverydayNormieMadafackaI mean, worked for the Soviets tbf. They might not have been anything on the Tigers and Panzers but the ability to repair a T-32 on the side of a road with duct tape, chewing gum and hope made them so much more practical
Looking forward to learning more about the Leander class. Also the interiors of Indria Class and Leander class.
Thanks for more Sojourn lore!
Can't wait for the Leander-class breakdown!
Man the animation for this was sooooo beautiful. Keep up the amazing work. Also it be would really interesting to see a videogame set in this universe.
Or a tabletop rpg
@@talscorner3696 Spceships and Asteroids🤣
I love these ship break downs make them feel so real . Make me want a full simulator game where I can run and mantain these ships and go on missions 😆😆
This video is so beautiful! The animations and models arevpretty much on par with shows like g
The first seasons of The Expanse at this point! Awesome to see how much progress has been made. And what an amazing design too.
Can't wait for a lore video on that three-hulled ship we see in this video, and also the Union's Dreadnaught that was destroyed.
I hope that these amazing cinematics mean we'll get an animated show version of The Sojourn someday
Fantastic ship designs and renderings... Wondering if the "bad breath" distance combat is stylized to mimic ships of the line in water?
It is a good day when there is new Sci-fi lore to eat, especially when it comes to ships for me
Happy to see another Outrider breakdown.
Amal Karah
So... we gonna see Advari ships at any point? Or would that have too many Season 2 spoilers?
So cool!
Gorgeously put together and narrated.
WOW.
I love ships in The Sojourn
OMG, the visuals are absolutely beautiful and spectacular!!
Beautiful!
Love these vids
Excellently done.
Beautiful art and animation
another great design and video! great feel of a cheaply build raider ship. lots of exposed parts and "external facing" armor.
octuple barrel turrets, inspiration from the octuple 40mm pom-pom mounts?
Amal-Karah!
Kinda wish we would get deck plans for all these ships
So. What’s that Trimaran looking ship in the later screenshots?
Can we get a lore video on that?
Alessiah-class fast frigate. An Indria's worth of autoguns paired with four railguns.
@@WeWhoAreXul ooooh, neat. Looks like I have another project for Space Engineers.
Are the railguns turreted?
@@nobodyherepal3292 Theres a picture of it on the Sojourn wiki and it's present in some posters for reference. The railguns and autoguns are all turreted. Not a match for a Confiance frigate in barrel-count, but looks like it's made to still keep up with Outriders.
Smiled why I saw this in subscriptions, as I think this is my favorite ship in the sojourn. I would also love to see the Merician Treasure Ship as its my other favorite. For worlds I would love to see Mericia and Teldrin.
So cool
Retreat jump back to home. Gate destroyed. Uncovering puppet masters behind the alien civilization? Maybe? I Enjoy this story, looking forward to next story. I wish all audio books have voice actor cast like this one.
Going to build this in Starfield
Amal-karah!
'Hit and fade' and 'Wolfpack' tactics are not pirate tactics. Pirate tactics are 'Conceal and approach;' 'Rapid first strike' and 'threaten, board and take' needing to hold the space while doing so. At least in the Age of Sail. Modern pirates just try to threaten and board. No pirate unless desperate would attack a fully armed and crewed warship. At least in my opinion. I have no practical experience and if any Naval crew or officers care to correct me I'd be welcome to hearing where I am wrong.
You can call it propaganda if you will.
Maybe submarine tactics would be a better term? Ww2 seen a lot of ambushes and Wolfpack tactics
amazing
It would be cool to see Amazon, Paramount or HBO make a live action version of this series
It exudes a Millenium Falcon atmosphere.
Being capable of more than meets the eye.
Im new here. Got no idea what is going on, but i always love a light cruiser/point-defence ships.
YESSS
Aw how I would love to have these Sojourn ships in a brand new Nexus: Jupiter Incident like game :D
Love the design. The stripped down skeletal designs look like something that would be used in our near future.
Reminds me of the 3d printed firearms in use in Myanmar, only has to work until you capture something fancier
That model is so beautiful it has so much detail
Aren't the Union ships technically three-hulled? Two side hulls and one center?
goodjob to the modeller, as a modeller myself, this is so sexy
Hm. Food for thought.
So like, the only ship left to do as far as the ones we've heard featured within The Sojourn is the Alessiah 👀👀👀👀 Daaaaaamn am I excited for that!!!!
Theres also the Arashi-Sakara- the only Union dreadnought with Bismarck-level connotations- and the Centran Tetriarch class 1st rate mentioned. But yes, we're close to covering all the main character craft.
@@WeWhoAreXul Good god, the Arashi Sakara 🤤 Just imagine the gunsssssss
Would love to see a gate haller
Honestly, this ship design bothers me. The ship is best defended when edge on to enemy ships, providing a small cross section and taking advantage of its sparce armor. But it's guns are completely ineffective in this orientation as the very same armor gets in the way.
Split hulls like this are inefficient with armor but they add visual interest. But paring that with bad firing arcs. Eish.
But ignoring those issues it is still a very cool ship and better designed than a lot of other scifi.
Amal kerah!

Hmmmmmmmm
Зачем создавать корабль предлагающий экипажу ужасные условия?
Have you heard of U-Boats?
Problem with this ship design is that the turrets are on the inside of the "sponsons" and cannot fire port or starboard of the ship. Two massive blind spots.
To which the Frontier Union's response seems to be "just pivot the ship loaded with maneuvering thrusters so the engine isn't in direct line of fire"
Agreed on blindspot directly port/starboard, but seems they prioritized big engines over maximum gunnery.
The ship it is based on which has the same engine nacelles has the turrets on the outside where they should be. So likely it was an artist justifying their job by making bad engineering decisions to make the ship look more different. @@WeWhoAreXul
7:13 to 7:30 is Union propaganda grr
