I saw YES perform on three different occasions and the experience brought my emotions to such heights I took would cry tears of joy feeling completely overwhelmed with positivity. They were very special.
What a beautiful tribute Rick to a former band mate Alan White a very talented drummer. The backbone of Yes for many years, with Chris Squire the bass player. A phonomal rhythm section that had amazing success for many years. Sadly no more, but their legacy will live on for many years too come. We'll done Rick 👍👍👍👏👏👏.
Alan would love that you couldn’t share those memories before Gigi and the kids! Beautiful tribute Rick... the piano piece was so bittersweet 💔 it was a beautiful thing getting to share a part of life in Seattle with an amazing music family-- Alan and Gigi were so much fun together and Alan will be so missed RIP Alan and thanks again Rick
Wherever he is, Alan White surely heard this beautiful tribute. Outstanding job, as always, Mr. Wakeman. 🎹 R. I. P. Mr. White. 🥁 Say hi to Mr. Squire for us.
Lovely tribute, Rick. As a drummer, I always loved his work. He was especially great on Awaken - he absolutely nailed what the song needed - one of my favourites. We’ve lost one hell of a rhythm section.
As much as one can love another, I do love you, sir. You and your band have given me such happiness, and your music will be forever. I am truly a lucky man to have been alive to witness the phenomenon of Yes. Rather than mourn the loss of a friend and talent, I will choose to remember the joy of the music. RIP Alan, thanks for everything. And Mr Wakeman, sir, thank you for such a wonderful tribute.
Wow, very moved by that. Rick. Love you, mate. Me and Julie went to the Yes gig at the Royal Albert Hall, London, U K.It was a great gig. The music is timeless, and your piano solo of "And you and I", for Alan, moved me deeply. There are some young bands covering Yes songs, some of them brilliant! Xx. Nick
RIP Alan. Rick's playing is so incredibly clean. His left hand patterns are not simple by any means, and the way he interlocks with the right is highly original.
I met Alan back 2002 he was a kind soul and I had a great conversation with him he loved his wife and kids and he loved yes I'll never will forget you Alan thanks for the talk❤❤❤❤❤
My condolences on the loss of our friend Alan. Having followed you Rick since the early days, and still I turn to your music for comfort in difficult times, it is so fitting to have "And You and I" as a closing tribute to Alan. Thank You Rick for the class and style you've always shown, far from the norm of today.
God bless you, desr Rick Eakeman. It is really beautiful. So much energy and emotion in your heart to performance this incredible piece of music.l in such a memorable way. Thank you! RIP, Allan White+.
Beautiful and funny tribute. I once met Alan after a SYN concert in a small club. He could not have been nicer. He put his arm around me, because the club was loud, and answered all my questions. I did my best Chris Farley impression of a fan as I told him he was my favorite drummer and how amazing his work has been. Thanks for a lifetime of great, truly great music.
Wow, beautiful....brought my heart up into my throat!! A favorite Yessongs of mine, was just listening to it last week... Met Alan at a couple of meet n greets -- very affable guy, made you feel appreciated as a fan! (Howe did not -- arse!) Met Oliver Wakeman also... Like his father, the apple does not fall far from the tree... Saw Yessongs in '75 or 76, changed my life...Chris's playing made me want to play bass, and eventually buy a RIC or two... Have read Rick's two books, both wonderfully funny... Own some of Rick's works outside of Yes, beautiful solo piano work! An incredibly talented man... This was a fitting tribute, I'm sure reflecting the fun in the relationship between the two men!!
I followed Alan via his work with Yes and he was a fantastic drummer! Only met Alan once in Issaquah near Seattle, 2016, not long after Chris’s passing! Alan was gentleman by all accounts! Thanks Alan!!
I always loved the drums on Instant Karma. Thought it was Ringo until I found out it was Alan a few years later. We will miss him. Hope we all make it to the great YES reunion in the Big Sky!
As usual, a lovely piano rendition of a classic tune by Rick, dedicated to Alan White. If we ourselves live long enough, we experience the departure of friends and family. It is merely a passing of time. Life is not so much an endurance race as it is a blessing to have been alive for whatever time we are given on this earth. Time, can often seem unfair, but it halts for no one. Regardless of how special or precious. We all realize this, as we experience it. Rest in peace Alan. And, thank you Rick, for your heartfelt levity, although you have lost a dear, musical brother. God bless everyone. Enjoy life. PEACE.
Oh, man.... I just found out via this upload, damn. I had the pleasure of speaking to Alan at the 1st YesCon in Cherry Hill, NJ in 1985 (?) It was hosted by Ed Schiaky, who has also left us.... His highlights for me are Ritual, Sound Chaser, Release Release, Hold On- among many others. One of County Durham's finest !! Thank you Mr. White for the musical treasures of a lifetime. God Speed, Alan White. 🚬😎
Rick Wakeman always delivers what is required and more not just because the situation demands it, but because he is sincere and possesses talent on many many levels to entertain. A huge admirer of his music and more recently his comedic life stories.
It's tough for one to watch legends say farewell to their legendary friends, and bandmates...esp. when those legends have provided the bulk of one's life's soundtrack. Great playing and tribute, Rick.
That was a lovely tribute to Alan. I saw the two of you perform together many times and met the two of you on a couple of occasions. I told Alan that he was an excellent drummer and he seemed taken aback by my comment. He was a modest man. You were wearing a T-shirt that read "Farting is my only pleasure."
Bravo Rick 👏👏👏. What a beautiful and inspiring composition; I can envision YES playing it. Thank you for the glimpse of your heart for your bandmate. What a profoundly special relationship you had. I am deeply moved. Thank you.
I was fortunate enough to meet Mr. White on two occasions - at a drum clinic in San Diego and in LA after their first "Talk" concert. On both occasions he was very nice, courteous and genuine. Someone very unique in "rock" music.
oh gosh - this passed me by... RIP indeed. One of my very favourite drummers... much as I love Bruford, the heavy edge Alan lent to Yes propelled them into the stratosphere. He'll be sorely missed.
I only saw Yes in concert 12 times, all in the 1970s. Losing Alan and Chris was like losing a family member. I attended the Led Zeppelin reunion concert in London in 2007 and got to see Chris rock out with the opening superband, it was great (then Zeppelin played for almost 3 hours and kicked ass). That was my eighth Zep concert. Wish I would’ve made it to my 13th Yes concert. Wakeman, I saw you on Top Gear years ago, always amazing. Thanks man.
Alan was so great in concert and he will be missed. Rick always has such a great sense of humor!❤😢 Wow you played my favorite tune and reminds me of my late wife Rebecca who died many years ago at a young age. This brought tears to my eyes!😢
You made me cry only just found this tribute. Sorry I was late. I will never forget Tokyo with Alan and you. He was a great, very generous Caring man! Thank you
Rick you are so human. Not just a rock star or piano player or synthesizer player, but a fine human being that has a very nice persona, not filled with ego even though you are a fine keyboardist, you always lighten up the mood moment. And it must have been a joy to have you as a bandmate. Long live and keep playing music. I like you so much for all you have created and for not letting the success confuse you as to what is important in life. Just plain thank you for some fine music.
Just beautiful. I thought nobody could replace Bill, but Alan smashed it and this tribute brought me to tears. Yes, the best of the best bands and Alan provided much of the power, the light and shade such great music required. I thought Close to the Edge could never be surpassed until I bought Going for the One. So many wonderful pieces and a big repertoire, fantastic live, Yes are untouchable. Brilliant how Rick captures the essence with just the piano. RIP Alan and Chris.
Lovely arrangement of And You And I.I have never heard it played so well.Rick is so good at adding twiddly bits to a song! And lovely words too.Just the right combination of anecdote, remembrance and sincerity.
Rick has inspired me from my teenage years and the first time I heard the LP of Journey to the Centre of the Earth. A wonderful tribute from one legend to another!
Rock royalty bringing a tear to the eye with this fitting tribute to Alan and a beautiful fluid and moving version of And you and I…Rick, you are the master and one of a kind ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Whether it's with music or comedy, Rick Wakeman never lets you down.
I just love him. Wish I could just give him a hug.
hahaha i love your name!!!
YA DAMN RIGHT ABOUT THAT...😁✌️🍻
agree 100%
I have heard "And You and I" about 1000 times. This time I cried. Bless you Rick, and godspeed Alan.
You can feel it in Rick's touch that he felt massive love and respect for Alan while playing it.
I saw YES perform on three different occasions and the experience brought my emotions to such heights I took would cry tears of joy feeling completely overwhelmed with positivity. They were very special.
Alan was a fantastic drummer…he will be missed along with his buddy Chris Squire…..Rick beautiful tribute for Alan🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

Legends never die. RIP. Alan played the drums because he loved the music. Not the fame. Not the adoration. The music.
well said sir
couldn't put it better
What a lovely rendition of and you and I.
No better tribute to Alan than this. Thanks Rick for share it to us. Both of you "are" great. Your kind of people never dies.

We’ve lost one hell of a rhythm section.
Great Man...
Yes, Awaken is beautiful
And Yes, we miss this team of musicians so tightly fit together…Alan And Chris!! And on another Truly great album from Rick’s ‘Criminal Record’ !!
Rick Wakeman is a good egg, always has been.
Having met both Rick & Alan, I can testify they were both extremely friendly and true gentlemen. Chris and Alan are now Heavens finest rhythm section.
Same as me, met the pair and I can say the same things as you. I also met Chris, he was a bit harsher but, hey, he was Chris Squire...
Such a tasteful digest of CTTE...damn we're losing our favorites far too quickly. 😢
As much as one can love another, I do love you, sir. You and your band have given me such happiness, and your music will be forever. His right foot was melded with Chris' right hand immaculately, every single time I listen to them live, that's always there.
