    Always happy to see a Cyberpunk upload from you Jon, keep it up. I’m excited for the possibilities when the core rulebook for Red is out and the community can avidly discuss it.

    Hey man! My friends and I just picked up 2020 and after our first session last weekend I’m hooked, very fun to run and my players were laughing and role playing the whole time! Never a dull moment in the dark future. Your videos are super cool and I’m glad to hear the thoughts of a veteran player and get some more perspective on the game/setting/and rules. Just wanted to say thank you for providing some help for new players and refs 👍

    Bear with me if these are covered in the books. My group hasn't let me run the game yet. Two things which would fit in.
    1) 3D printed guns. Maybe a job for your party is to steal a corporate firearm design for a criminal group's manufacture. Conversely you could break up a criminal gun shop for the corp. Investigations via hacking into the design file's origin (checksums, metadata, whatever leaving clues).
    2) The Judge pistols from Judge Dredd. A biolocked gun could be sweet, especially a 'rooted/deregulated' one.

    2:47 are there also gunsmiths who can take scavenged parts or other raw materials and machine them into usable equipment? Crafting systems can be clunkier in tabletop than computer games, but do you know if any of the Talsorian books cover it or decent attempts made by GMs to come up with a system like that? Either a skill players could pick or some NPCs they might interact and trade with. Thanks for the content, glad you got a nice rig for 2077!

      I'm sure there's a 2020 supplement out there that mentions something. But if you can wait till Red releases, there's a competent easy to understand system for upgrading, customizing, and inventing weapons. It's really amazing.

    I really like your approach! CP2020 is such fun for gun geeks.
    In my 2020, I have this big list of basic firearm templates for each weapon category (including some homebrew ones like Very Heavy SMG that clacks out magnum rounds at slothful cash register speeds). It's built around the idea of object-oriented programming (y'know... object class, object ID and tweaks) which is a pretty cyberpunk approach to industrial design.
    Weapon category defines : range, damage, semi-auto ROF and automatic ROF (I've ditched 3-rnd burst).
    Make and model of weapon describes : Weapon Accuracy, Availability, Concealability, Reliability, Magazine Capacity and Price.
    THEN after that for more detail each individual weapon may be modded by a Tech (flange-guided flared roller-assisted magwells that allow fast ejection and speed reloading as a free action, smartgun functions that add ergonomics for forward-assists and automated slide racking that grant a bonus to clearing jams, holoprojected pop-up sights, recoil compensators, built-in suppressors, etc etc)
    Combat NPCs work with the Category only and their ammo and reloading is described contextually,
    PCs and Story NPCs get to play with make-n-model specifics and the mods if and when relevant.

      Nice! Those are great ideas. 2020 did a great job facilitating gun fun.

      I use a lot of my interest in guns to bring realistic gunsmithing and options to my games. That shiny new Malorian or Arasaka pistol out of your price range? How about buy a second-hand early 21st Century gun - pick a reliable brand and get one that's mechanically sound - for a fraction of the price. OK, the finish is worn and it's not the most fashionable, but there's numerous ways to fix the finish - Cerakote, plating, etching/engraving, Parkerizing etc - and you can get a gunsmith to make mods to suit your taste and your budget. Now you've got a cool custom weapon for a fraction of the price.
      I've got PCs and named NPCs running about with old Walther, Beretta, Taurus, Ruger, Heckler und Koch and CZ firearms, some with very distinctive and unique looks.

    Is this 2020 or Red? I was going to buy red but I’m loving 2020 about the details that combat have. I’ll probably get both

    My PCs were all able to get second-hand late 20th century or early 21st century guns from their fixer - good brands, well looked after, still going strong with plenty of useful life left in them - for reasonable prices.
    Old guns like this are fairly common in my setting and a lot of the named NPCs have unique, distinctive weapons without breaking the bank due to buying a good quality older weapon and customising it - Cerakote colours, patterns and designs; plating; engraving/etching; aftermarket accessories, custom weaponsmithing etc - in keeping with their personal tastes and styles. The guns have stories and they tell stories about their owners.

      @@gustavesoucy-breton6841 Yeah, I love the aesthetic of 20th Century firearms. I also like looking at some of the finishes people have put on guns IRL - not just camo patterns, but snake/lizard/dragon scales, flags, pictures, solid colours, etching and engraving, inlays, plating etc. There's some amazing stuff out there.

      Interestingly enough, quite a few of the guns in 2077 are described as early 21st century, popular because of their reliability.

    this gun fetish never appealed to me. I don t need all the details when it comes to guns, and I certainly don t need everyone in my game world to run around with firearms. That approach is way too American to me.
    I prefer a cyberpunk world that is heavily policed, most weapons are illegal and the characters have to conceal their weapons and do their deeds in secret.

    • @lordzaboem
      @lordzaboem 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, the default setting for the game is in the former U.S. free nation of North California, so too American isn't a fair criticism. Your take might very well be what's happening in Cyberpunk U.K. of and when we ever get an update on that part of the world.

    • @soulsurvivor8293
      @soulsurvivor8293 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lordzaboem Depends really. In CP2020 firearms were still fairly regulated, NCPD still took an interest in people who walk around in body armour and had assault rifles slung.
      Your average person was packing a registered FedArms 9mm at most, either as conceal carry or in a suitably fashionable holster.
      NCPD would patrol more affluent areas more often obviously, but they would flag you down to check you for illegal weapons and such if you looked out of place.
      Given how even the megacorps are shadows of their former power in Red; the world in general has less law and order so it's less of an issue.
      As for the UK, in 2020 most of its basically equivalent to the combat zone. There is a source book for the UK and Europe that details the situation there.
      Most affluent European nations are bastions of high society and wealth, which is why Eurosolos are highly regarded and a different breed to American Solos.
      They are the Agent 47's, Jason Bornes, John Wicks and James Bonds of the cyberpunk world.
      No idea how the rest of the world, let alone the UK, between 2020 and Red.
